I can…read moreonly speak for the time I attended, so as of the year 2001, Bunnell was prettier, and had a better student population than Stratford High, socioeconomically speaking. The school property was clean and well maintained. Most of the classrooms were large in size, and usually had a full-class. The laboratories and facilities were very good and well taken care of. The teachers, for the most part, were excellent. I don't have any complaints about any of them! PLUS, the "Bulldogs" (Bunnell) always kicked the "Red Devils" (Stratford H.) butt!

When I graduated from Bunnell it was a beautiful new building in the best 60s style. When I went…read morethere again in the early 90s for an evening ballroom dancing class, all the glass in the front entrance had been replaced with black plywood. And there had been a lot of glass. More black plywood was in the gym. A sign high on the gym wall announced that mooning the cheerleaders was prohibited, as was giving them the finger and cursing them. This was for the benefit of those who might have thought it was OK. When I went there again 10 years ago, the front entrance was sealed. The front office had been modified by adding a small door and stairs, and visitors entered there. After entering, visitors walked a narrow pathway with plexiglass walls, so they could be observed before gaining admittance. A police car was parked outside, right in front. I imagine police are on duty there full time these days. Driving through the parking lot, now trimmed in weeds, was no fun. It had been filled with speed bumps. Is it even possible to plow it in the winter? I had gone there to inquire about class records, to be used in planning a class reunion. They told me there were no records. Were they telling the truth, or were they just flipping me off? I don't know. I admit it sounded unlikely. Can I blame the school for reflecting the dismal societal changes that have taken place since I was a student there? I don't think so. It's just a building, after all. I must have grown up in a golden age. I had no idea what was in store.

My high school years were the best of my life and I miss the community so so so much. This school gave me the foundation I needed to succeed in the world and I think I'm doing pretty darn well. The teachers were (and still are) into their students. They wanted us to be the best we could and never hesitated to stay after school to help us. I'm tearing up thinking about it. They have ruined the senior year of girls graduating in 2018 by putting their current financial crisis on them. They are too young to suffer such a burden. Good evening, I am writing as a deeply angry and disgusted…read moreparent. Today, when I picked up my son Leonardo, I was informed he had SLEPT ON THE COLD TILE FLOOR because he was "hot." That explanation alone is UNACCEPTABLE, but it gets worse. He was WET when I picked him up this afternoon--his hair, his pants, his coat--completely soaked. And when I asked why, not a single staff member could give me an answer. "I don't know" is NOT an acceptable response when a child is returned to their parent in that condition. The lack of accountability, the carelessness, and the indifference are beyond disappointing--they are DISGUSTING. As someone with experience working in multiple daycares and schools, I know that if a 3-year-old refuses to sleep on a cot, you don't allow them to lay on a cold, dirty floor like an animal. You comfort them, you redirect them, and you provide care. The fact that this didn't happen is a complete failure on your part. Even a dog gets a bed. My son deserved far better than this. And yes, I will say it--had Leonardo not been a young Black boy, I believe this situation may have been handled with more compassion and urgency. He was neglected. There's no other word for it. Let me ask you this: How would you feel if you found out your child took a nap on the cold floor? Or picking him up wet and not exactly given an actual clear explanation ? If he was uncomfortable, if he was upset, if something happened--WHY wasn't I called? As his mother, I should have been informed immediately. Instead, he was left in that condition, and no one took responsibility. This is not just poor care. This is unacceptable. This is disgusting. This is neglect. Leonardo will NOT be returning to your center. I will also be reporting this incident to corporate and taking further steps as necessary. I expect a written explanation, not excuses. Do better!!!!! My son attended Tutor Time from March of 2022 - August 2023. Transition from home to daycare was…read morestressful for mom and dad and the staff was wonderful. His teachers have been phenomenal and so patient with him. Special thanks to Mariah and Diamond who had him in toddlers, Amy in Twos and Alyssa and Rachel in EP. Our son needed Birth to 3 services and all of the teachers adopted the strategies needed to help our son grow and thrive. They were even flexible with us about our continued enrollment after summer 2023 which gave us options as we planned for our son's transition to Pre-k and allowed us to breath a little. Sarah, your leadership and your leadership team are truly exceptional and I wish you, Alex and Liz continued success.
