Contrary to it's name, this is not a place that only sells chocolate covered fruits and nuts, as I initially assumed. I probably would never have gone in at all except my bookclub needed a last-minute location change and someone looked up this place. It was wonderful! It's an anime-themed cafe with chocolate treats, yes, but also an espresso bar, bubble teas, taiyaki, cheesecake cups, and sandwiches, too! It's a fabulous place for a small book club to meet. My middle-schooler loved the place, too! They had a watermelon boba tea and mini Nutella taiyaki. I had a German chocolate latte--and I snatched one of the mini taiyaki, which came in an order of three. All were great, and I will absolutely come back here again (and remember to take pics of our food and drink next time)!

They handled each customer with care. They didn't rush me. I know i took too long to decide. After finishing my order I kept adding to it. I had to hurry and leave tge building before I added even more to the order. I ended up with 4 delicious cupcakes and a gooey butter cake. Everything was so good. The gold rush was the last cake that I purchased. I had completed my order. But got back in line to get it. 2 ladies told me that I can go ahead of them. I told them I already ordered and I'm ordering again. I initially got 3 vanilla butter cream cupcakes. Then I saw the gooey butter cake. I asked the young lady to add that too.. My coworkers placed their orders. Their desserts are kind of pricey. At least they are on my opinion. But they are very good. Of course there's parking out front.

Yesterday, Sophia my little fur-baby had a vet appointment that was just a block away. Being a good dog dad, I made sure she arrived early. In fact, we were so early I had time to kill so I made a stop at, The Cup. To my delightful surprise, they had a special on two of my favorite flavors and they were combined into one cupcake. I love lemon & raspberry. The cupcake was called, Spring Fling. It was a lemon cake, with Raspberry cream cheese frosting and a raspberry filling. The cake was moist and soft. Most importantly, the frosting was not overly sweet and did not overly dominant the cake. It was just the perfect amount of topping. The lady working the counter was attentive and made friendly conversation. I was glad to see that they are part of the, Gift-A-Meal program and that they offered Student Discounts to those who attend SIUE. That's community supporting community.

Even though I am thrilled to have one on the IL side of the river, it's a half hour drive to enjoy. The other day I was running errands and shopping in Edwardsville. I made it a point to do it around the lunch hour, so I could enjoy an calzone. I ordered at the counter as you do and lucky for me, the cashier was patient with me. As I ordered, I kept reading the menu and changed my mind two times and finally stayed with my third choice. Having a love of jalapeños, Pancho Villa was my final choice. Pancho Villa not only gave my fresh jalapeños, it was also filled with red peppers, smoked cheddar, Mozzarella and the meat was Chorizo prepared in Smoked Chili Oil. Yum-Yum and no heartburn. For dipping or spreading on top, I was given a cup of Queso. One nice thing about SOTS, is they offer adult beverages. They have an excellent selection of local craft beers and wines to pair with your calzone. I paired mine with, Pale Ale from Schlafly. The dining room is clean and crisp. It's done in an industrial style. They have regular tables and a few hightop tables, so you can choose which one is best for you. On the tables you'll find linen napkins with reusable flatware. If you can eat an entire calzone, I am impressed. For those of us who cannot, next to the soda machine is a stack of eco-friendly to-go boxes to put your leftovers in, to take home.

Hank's Cheesecake is, without question, the best cheesecake I've ever had--and that's saying a lot,…read moreconsidering I'm from the Northeast and have traveled extensively. The flavors are plentiful, the creativity is unmatched, and the quality of the ingredients is truly unrivaled. I honestly don't think there's a better cheesecake shop that I've encountered anywhere in my travels. The staff is generally very helpful and welcoming, with Lindsy in particular being a consistent standout at the front register over the years. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and have easily spent thousands of dollars on Hank's cheesecakes for both personal celebrations and professional events. The product itself has always been worth every penny. That said, I was disappointed to learn of the new policy charging $2 simply to slice a cheesecake. When purchasing a $25-$400+ cheesecake, an additional fee for a task that takes roughly 20 seconds feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit off-putting. While I understand that rising costs are impacting businesses everywhere, this type of nickel-and-diming can feel discouraging--especially to long-standing, repeat customers who have consistently supported the business. Hank's Cheesecake remains exceptional, and the product is second to none. I hope management reconsiders this policy, as it slightly detracts from what has otherwise been an outstanding customer experience for many loyal patrons.

It was a blend of vanilla custard, fresh strawberries and hard-shell chocolate. It looked so delicious in the clear plastic cup, all three of the ingredients were swirled together. I would have taken a picture to capture the beauty, but with the high temperatures I just started to devour my sweet treat. I was sitting on their spacious patio, so it was melting fast and I was trying to eat it as quickly as it was melting. I would have preferred to been able to slowly eat it and truly enjoy the rich flavor of the custard and strawberries. However, sipping on the melted custard with the chunks of chocolate, did make for a nice treat, too. I'm coming back to try some of the food. The inside dining room was filled with senior citizen couples enjoying lunch. If it's good enough for them, I am confident I'll enjoy it, too. The young staff working the service window were friendly and very professional. They've been trained well, in providing quality customer service.
