They handled each customer with care. They didn't rush me. I know i took too long to decide. After finishing my order I kept adding to it. I had to hurry and leave tge building before I added even more to the order. I ended up with 4 delicious cupcakes and a gooey butter cake. Everything was so good. The gold rush was the last cake that I purchased. I had completed my order. But got back in line to get it. 2 ladies told me that I can go ahead of them. I told them I already ordered and I'm ordering again. I initially got 3 vanilla butter cream cupcakes. Then I saw the gooey butter cake. I asked the young lady to add that too.. My coworkers placed their orders. Their desserts are kind of pricey. At least they are on my opinion. But they are very good. Of course there's parking out front.

Yesterday, Sophia my little fur-baby had a vet appointment that was just a block away. Being a good dog dad, I made sure she arrived early. In fact, we were so early I had time to kill so I made a stop at, The Cup. To my delightful surprise, they had a special on two of my favorite flavors and they were combined into one cupcake. I love lemon & raspberry. The cupcake was called, Spring Fling. It was a lemon cake, with Raspberry cream cheese frosting and a raspberry filling. The cake was moist and soft. Most importantly, the frosting was not overly sweet and did not overly dominant the cake. It was just the perfect amount of topping. The lady working the counter was attentive and made friendly conversation. I was glad to see that they are part of the, Gift-A-Meal program and that they offered Student Discounts to those who attend SIUE. That's community supporting community.

It always bums me when I have to remove a star from a local business. My last three visits to…read moreTeaspoon Cafe have not been what it use to be. However, the people of Edwardsville still love Teaspoons, because it was packed. Things that disappointed me on my last visit that made me decide to take a star away: They are now serving Kaldi's Coffee a STL roaster. I think it is a shame that they are not supporting one of the many local roasters on the Illinois side of the river. Was disappointed that their iced coffee lids were not sip lids. I prefer them, because I am not a fan of straws. I know some people need or prefer straws, but I like the option of not using one. Save the Turtles. Biggest disappointment was my food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and hot and made fresh. They were very good. The English Muffin was also good. It was obvious it was freshly toasted, because the whipped butter spread and melted easily. The disappointments were the bacon and potatoes. Both were cold and tough. It was obvious that both sides were prepared ahead of time. The bacon did have good flavor, but it was chewy and rubbery. My potatoes were on the burnt side of preparation and cold and chewy like the bacon. Damn, when I've ordered this before it was good, not this time. I will at least say, the service and customer service is still good and consistent with what I've had before. Which actually saved them from getting two stars.

Every tea I've ever had here has been off the charts. They have caffeine free options, too! The teapot for two is excellent. I am a sucker for a pick two because I like a lil diversity. The ceasar salad is great. Big fan of the teaspoon pesto sandwich. My partner raves about the chicken croissant and always gets a side salad with olive oil. The workers are nice. Its seat yourself with a number and they clear the table when you're finished. Easy place to bring kids. Plenty of options for seating! Personally love the booth option.

The Good: The pretzels are reasonably priced, especially the combos. For $4, you can get 3 pretzels or a dozen pretzel "nuggets" (some places call them pretzel bites.) Add another $2 and you get a choice of 3 dipping sauces and a 16 oz. drink. So, for $6 plus tax and tip, you will have enough for a meal. They also have mini pigs in a blanket (cocktail weeniest inside a pretzel) and cinnamon versions. The pretzels were fresh and hot and PLENTY for my appetite. Not so Good: The place was very smokey- not sure if they had burned something or perhaps they need commercial vents? It's carry out so I wasn't in there that long. The parking lot is hard to get in and out of due to the location at two very busy roads. Nothing they can do about that. IMO comments: I didn't care for the cheddar cheese sauce - it reminds me of the canned stuff they give you with nachos at the ball park. Lastly, the pretzels had a "sheen" on them but I like mine buttered - the way they are offered at other pretzel places. All in all, decent pretzels and fair prices!
