The service here was outstanding. They noticed me waiting outside of their store with my dog and came out to invite us to come inside (along with the dog). They offered our dog a cute spoonful of ice cream, which she loved. Staff were really friendly and willing to answer any of our questions. Their hot chocolate was rich and really sweet. I think the flavor is so concentrated that you could dilute it with more milk, but otherwise it was quite good. Their gelatos were all so good. I got the mango, strawberry, and honey lavender. Salted Carmel Sunday was very good. We ordered two at the stand up counter, walked to another lady, told her our order, paid the $26 and I did not click the auto-populated 20% tip. The girl at the register gave me an extremely disrespectful look. The prices seem to be sturdy enough and we paid our dues for the product like I would at a grocery store or Baskin Robbin's. The only downside was that the shop was very small and had a maximum of eight customers. After you get your treat, you can sit outside on the picnic benches. Overall, excellent. While visiting Tofino, wanted to have something sweet and stooped at Chocolate Tofino. This is in a collection of buildings that can be easy to just drive by, so look for the gelato sign. The inside is small so I can see a line forming outside pretty quickly in the warmer months. They will let you sample some flavors before you decide. I ended up with a pint of the Hammerhead which is a secret recipe. Licorice, chai, who knows. The recipe is a secret I think only the owner knows. Also had the hedgehog which is chocolate and hazelnut. They make all their own chocolates in house with Colombian chocolate. Several to choose from. My favorite is the London fog. It's a good thing I don't live closer. Friendly staff. Great selection. Check it out! read more

My family came to the area as tourists to tacofino, but they closed early. So we walked around the area and ate the the grill place next to chocolate tofino. We noticed they consistently had a line out the door! We lined up for a taste ourselves. We each got our own cup, I found the prices to be cheap compared to other places for the large portion! My whole family agreed that the gelato was just alright. I wish it was more flavourful. For reference, I got the chocolate hazelnut. read more

After seeing all the 5 star reviews, I was excited to check this place out. It was pretty good, as you can't really go wrong with ice cream, but not as mind-blowing as some of the reviews make it out to be. For other Vancouverites, I prefer Earnest Ice Cream or Rain or Shine hands down. All the flavours look really delicious, and their descriptions will make you laugh a little. I ended up going for the salted caramel in a waffle cone, which has chocolate flakes in it and apparently Harrison Ford liked it. Well if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me, right? The salted caramel is tasty, perhaps not as salty or "burnt sugar tasting" like Earnest's, but still good. The waffle cones are crisp and well made, the bottom was crafted so there is less chance of melted ice cream dripping out. Tip: If you eat at Wildside Grill first, keep your receipt and you get 10% off at Chocolate Tofino. There is some covered outdoor seating in between Chocolate Tofino and Wildside Grill, plus washrooms behind. If the weather is nice they also have a lot of picnic tables in the area (uncovered). If I'm in Tofino again I'd come back, as it seems like the best place to have ice cream there. But, it's not even close to my favourite ice cream places and not something I'd crave for. read more

Wow. This was amazing gelato. I did a double scoop with "hedgehog" (chocolate and hazelnut) and the vegan chocolate coconut gelato. They were both absolutely delicious! Long line, but for good reason, and if you want your gelato quickly, you can call ahead! Nice area with a couple of shops and outdoor seating. But the staff was nice and let use taste a couple of other flavours before we ordered. We got 2 scoops on a waffle cone for $8.50. The waffle cone was okay but the portion that they gave us were BIG. I'm glad I wasn't eating it all by myself. We also go chocolate covered coco nibs and they were GREAT. It's a bit expensive, but fair priced. I wanted to order their delicious chocolates for a few upcoming Birthdays via online but every time I tried to login to enter my email address, their system kept stating 'Email address is invalid'. I double check to see if I entered it incorrectly but that wasn't the problem. I even created a new account using the same email address and this time, I did manage to login and put items in the basket but when it came to the payment stage, the order just hung there-ugh! We drove to chocolate Tofino and the parking was a little tricky because it's a gravel parking lot with no lines and the cars are parked close together. I think there's constantly a lot of cars because tacofino and other stores share the same parking lot area. The gelato was delicious and creamy! We had the hammerhead and summer strawberry flavours. Hammerhead is a secret recipe so I don't know what's in it but it tastes like cardamom. The summer strawberry tasted like fresh strawberries instead of the artificial stuff. We know a little thing or two about gelato, and when we see it we are usually suspicious... However, we were blown away by how delicious this gelato was. We actually had a lot of difficulty figuring out which flavors we were getting because we wanted them all. It's VERY good and you should definitely get some. What keeps us coming back is the gelato. It really is some of the best gelato we've ever had, and the Salted Caramel bowl is a pretty good deal. Just a few chairs but really relaxing. Staff was really friendly and let the kids try as many samples of the ice cream as they wanted. This is a cute little chocolate shop that we stopped at after a long day hiking. It did not disappoint! Their vanilla bean ice cream with a chocolate cone is awesome! I was also a fan of the pistachio. The ice cream is so silky and smooth. Also, try their chocolate candy. I had the caramel with salt. I didn't eat it right away, forgot it in my purse, and discovered it a week later when back in the states. It was probably the best caramel candy I have ever had. The pecan gelato is pretty good. I would spring for the waffle cone. You'll probably get some extra ice cream as they try to make it look nice and full. OMG, I had to drag myself away from this place or I would weigh 300 lbs! The chocolate here is fabulous, all hand made, small batches, with marvelous flavor and texture combinations. The wild blackberry buttercream is a dream, the hazelnut buttercream is lovely and not oversweet, the strawberry starfish is awesome with a real strawberry inside, the hazelnut rainforest logs are fabulous, oh I could just go on and on and on. After loading up on boxes of these incredible chocolates, I had to have a hot cocoa before I left - nectar of the gods!
