Paletas in Mexico City! Paletas are Mexican popsicles... pureed and frozen fresh fruit on a stick... so yummy and refreshing, especially on a hot day! Gloria, Tim, Alana, and I, were walking around Mexico City as tourists and saw a bunch of people eating paletas. They were standing around a small shop with counter service only. The price was so reasonable that I had three... it's just liquid, right? The gummy bear paleta was fun - sorry to the cute, fruity gummy bears that I ate! The coconut paleta was chewy also - because of the small bits of real coconut in it. The watermelon one (with seeds) was a nice ending... not too sweet and not as much work! This little blue & white store is situated inside what would be the size of a single car garage in America. There are lots of shops in these small spaces. They have a colorful banner facing both sides of the sidewalk, so you shouldn't miss finding it! If you can't find it, look for the place with a good line because it is happening!! I like their blue panther logo. How cute! He's even eating a Paleta! We were hot and thirsty and checked out Yelp for something cool... more specifically, a Paleta or ice cream. We headed here and the rest was history! Their Paletas are so good, so good in fact, that most of us got more than 1 or more than 2 even!! Might as well enjoy as many as possible because we were leaving for the airport pretty quickly after this. I had a Pistachio Paleta. It was very creamy and rich! The staff here are quick and efficient! Once ordered, they unwrap your Paleta, wrap a napkin around the stick and hand it to you. Even though these were frozen pretty solidly, it was so hot out that it started to melt these quickly. There are no frills to this operation. Only one lonely bench for two, maybe squeezing a third on it. It's basically for people to order and walk away with. They do sell these Paletas in multiples... people were buying a small cooler full at a time. You can't beat the price, either! If I ever make it back to CDMX (Mexico City), I will definitely come to La Pantera Fresca! read more

05/20/2018 After a nice lunch in this city, where could we go to cool off? Searching on Yelp for any places to walk to directed us here. You just got to follow your phone to this little place that looks like my garage to fit one car. There is a short line but that can change. Especially if we are hanging out to purchase another one. For approximately twelve pesos and depending on what you select. It's a popsicle with different fresh fruit juices. Some has pulp and some has real fruit. A few people would get the one with the unicorn on it. My first one is the coconut one. I had to choose the one with just juice or the other with milk or cream. Lots of coconut bits to chew on. My second one is Jamaica which isn't really sweet. More of just a red icicle. My third one is a watermelon one with all the seeds in it. Maybe there would be watermelons growing on these sidewalks. If you don't know what you want, the crew can always suggest a good one for you. read more

Looking for a refreshing treat? Well look no further...La Pantera Fresca is the place to be in CDMX. They sell all sorts of sabores de paletas (flavors of popsicles) from fruit to milky, as well as ice cream cones or cups. While touring the city we stopped by and grabbed a few, took a seat on the bench and ate away. People continued to arrive nonstop the entire visit. The prices are really cheap, about 20-25 pesos depending on fruit or milk based. Some of the flavors we tried were coco, mango con chile, piña, pistachio, sandia, and chocolate. Very refreshing during the hot day. Staff were friendly and helpful and friendly and tried to keep the line to a minimum. Would definitely recommend while in the area. read more
