Just did business with this chocolate shop for the first time after many years of being customer to a chocolate shop in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The gentleman who sold first box of chocolates to me had little exposure to my auditory handicap. The chocolates tasted great just like the old chocolate shop I patronized for years before moving to Florida. We held our daughter's birthday party at Chocolates by Michelle. All of the kids had a great time and went home with tons of chocolate. Stopped in today to buy some much needed chocolates. There was nobody else in the store so I figured they would be happy to have a customer who was looking to buy everything they had that was gluten free. Whomever was there working didn't even great me and when I asked what they had that was gluten free or friendly they rudely said they have nothing like that. If they don't have gluten free that's fine it's their choice as a business to not have something to offer to all customers. However customer service is key and how I was rudely dismissed for asking about gluten free items is the farthest thing from good customer service. Therefore I will never go there again or recommend this business. read more

$70 tower and wanted me to buy the $10 boxes that they put the candies in, which wasn't discussed. Yes, they are pretty cute "holiday" boxes but that wasn't discussed, nor worth $10. I spoke to them twice about what I wanted in the tower they were putting together, and I said a mix of white, dark, and milk chocolates and maybe 1-2 other treats (pretzels, Oreos, cookies, etc - mainly whatever they thought would be good), but I reiterated about three times that I wanted 80% or more of chocolates. There were 3 boxes - the smallest box had 18 pieces of chocolate - 2 white, 6 milk, and 10 dark. The other two larger boxes were of treats. Granted, most of the things in the boxes were good and at least my parents were happy with what was given. It was just frustrating, when I was called 3x to ask when I am picking up the tower, telling them twice about what I want inside (and then not getting that), and then getting a bit of an attitude when I don't want to purchase the boxes that I had 0 idea about. Worth the chocolate? Yes, probably. Worth the customer service? I don't know.... maybe worth a second try. read more

I can't believe my husband drove all the way out from Tampa to find my favorite chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries. The dark chocolate orange is my absolute favorite . If you haven't been to this chocolate shop I definitely would recommend a trip. The attention to detail and customer service is amazing. This is the first time in my life that I have ever had chocolate covered strawberries that weren't soggy. They actually dipped them while my husband was waiting and then gave him instructions on how to make sure they stayed fresh. I was looking for a local chocolate spot to get some chocolates to bring back home and unfortunately this is not the place. All the chocolate taste stale and way over priced, we got a 9 piece box and a couple other items and it was a little over $30. I was really hoping to like it but this is not the place. I really wanted to like this little shop but it is filled with all "brought in" candy and chocolates where I expected the chocolate to have been made on site. The prices they charge for the chocolate reflect that of a real chocolatier but they are not fresh and much in the window has turned from the heat and the half pound of cremes, jellies and cherry cordials that I purchased were hard. I bought a gift basket to a favorite horse back riding teacher. Basket was filled with chocolate horses. Michelle has 1000s of shapes so you can pick something for any theme. Absolutely Awful Experience for Valentine's!! I submitted my order online three days prior to Valentine's Day for a box of chocolate dipped foods. Scheduled a pick up for Saturday the 13th at 3p.m. When i arrived it was not ready. The printout of my order was laying in a pile with many others...? The owner was very frazzled and very disrespectful to the poor people(employee's) she set up for this disaster!! She took on more than she could chew. She started pulling these items from all over the place shelves with curtains and bins not dated from everywhere. She asked the girl if they had any bacon left? The girl replied under here! The bacon in my husbands box was all broke and undercooked under the chocolate. In the garbage it went. Then he went to enjoy the chocolate dipped strawberries and they were sitting in puddles of their own juice with brown mushy spots all over them. He took a bite in the dark and that is when we realized the grossness of that!! In the garbage those went!! So out of the forty dollars i had to throw $22.00 dollars in the garbage and also was very embarrassed that my husband was so disappointed the effort was to make it a special gesture and not just a bag of drug store candy!! read more

The chocolate here is very good. They have lots of variety from truffles to candy apples. There are tons of molds you can have made for chocolate shapes and it's almost overwhelming when you walk in because there's so much to choose from. read more

I arranged a private class for my partner's birthday and was very impressed! Michelle taught the class personally, gave us some background about how her business got off the ground (she saved cigarette money!) and showed us around the back of the store where she has thousands of chocolate molds and other items which help her and her staff create her amazing chocolate works of art. She demonstrated how to make chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, bacon, apricotes, marshmallows, etc, and then we made them. She make fudge which we used to create little coconut and sprinkled covered fudge balls. She showed us how to make little chocolate mice (SO adorable: a stemmed cherry and a Hershey kiss and little almond slices for the ears, easy for even beginners to do once she demonstrated how). Because it's the Christmas season, she also made large three-dimensional chocolate globes which we decorated to become edible Christmas ornaments. She presented my partner with birthday balloons and a decorated cake. All in all it was a wonderful experience. We learned a lot, had fun together and came home with several pounds of the chocolate goodies we made ourselves. She has general classes with at least six participants which are scheduled on a regular basis, and I'm sure those are lots of fun as well, but for really individual attention you can book a private class, which is definitely the way to go if you want to give your loved one a really special memory.
