As soon as you walk in this place has an amazing energy about it, the employee who greeted me and helped me through my first experience was so friendly and helpful while also being the cook and other things. Inside youre jamming to nice music and there are games all over, as well as places to sit with nice light coming in from outside. I have to say the gentleman who helped me really went out of his way to make sure i got exactly what i wanted, down to what type of chocolate i like for my shake if sweet or dark Customer service like that really goes a long way. We were asked if we had ever been there before and when we advised we had not we were explained how to order , given a menu and showed where we could sit down. They give it a light fluffy airy texture that taste just light ice cream and add all the fixins' to make it that amazing sundae that you craving but only better. This exceeded every expectation that I had walking into the restaurant. This not only met but exceeded the expectation. There are also so many flavors and toppings to choose from that you can make up your flavor if you wish. The next best part is for those who have gluten allergies.... all of their flavors and majority of their toppings are gluten free. Lastly, the restaurants tables are still spread for social distancing and they are extremely clean. This place is awesome and does not disappoint!! My daughter and I drove to Vampire Penguin on a Monday during the day the week before school started. I heard about them on the Palm Harbor Happenings Facebook page. Their shaved ice is so light and creative. The staff was extremely friendly. I got the tuxedo which is chocolate shaved ice with strawberries and marshmallows. My daughter got the pina colada which had pineapple and coconut shavings. WOW they were both delicious. Came in prior to closing as a family of four looking to enjoy a frozen treat, and was met by nothing other than what appears to be the angriest shortest and quick fused middle manager on this side of the Mississippi. We were rushed to order and refused a table, because apparently stacking four individual chairs would add too much exhaustion for him to bother. So we were pushed off to a bar top style seating where we could not enjoy each other's company... But alas we sat, facing the great views of a dim lit alley in new port richey, until we were about halfway finished with our desserts which was when he insisted we MUST leave. We said "Okay?" to which he proceeded to angrily lecture a young woman in our group about how he needed to send his staff of minors home. Maybe try scheduling appropriately as to not put yourself in this situation where you're literally chasing paying clients out of the door. Do better. Also the decor is lackluster and mediocre. I was so excited to see a new and exciting shaved ice location. Let's start with finding the place. The website and Facebook just state 5500 Main street. No where does it say a suite number so I had to call and ask for directions. The guy answered the phone like I just hit his cellphone. Like "Hey what's up?" I had to ask if it was the business I was searching and then he's like "uh yeah on 5500 main St you can't miss it" but you can miss it because we'd been driving around looking for it. Finally found it and ordered two of the special recipes. Both were missing things that the menu said it should have. When I pointed it out to the girl she goes "oh" and walked away. Not impressed. Might try again once they've been open a while but honestly it left a lot to be desired. Especially after frigid frog in Spring Hill who has amazing flavors and top notch service. read more
