Ed got me in the next day and said it wasn't the thermostat, like I thought, but replaced a belt and the water pump and did a radiator flush. It cost over $600 They didn't fix the issue, it was a temporary fix. I brought it back in yesterday. I had called earlier in the day and told them that the problem was happening again. Ed told me to bring it in. I said I would drop it off at 4. I dropped the car off at 4 and Ed glared at me. I said I had an appointment. He said, "the hell you do". I said I'd called earlier in the day. He grumpily looked through the system. He said they'd look at it and call me. He called 10 minutes later and said it was the radiator and that it would be $530 and they'd call me the next day and it would be done. It says they're open until 4, but they are now closed. They did not call to say it would take longer or to expect a delay. If I'd known, I would have taken the car seat out of the car. It is my daughter's birthday tomorrow and I have no transportation. I have no way to get to work in the morning. I am appalled at the treatment I received. I will never bring my car back here.

"Pity be the single lady who walketh into the mechanic shop alone." We've all heard the old adage,…read morebut I never truly believed it until today. I mean, this is Minnesota, the land of tater tot hotdish and 10,000 mosquito-infested lakes and honest, hardworking mechanics who would never dare lie to you to turn a profit, right? Eh... not so much. Backstory: my brakes had been screeching for a couple weeks. Not being a complete mouth-breathing moron, and understanding how to perform a basic Google search, I quickly figured out that my brake pads probably needed replacing. Easy fix, right? I scheduled an appointment at this Meineke, simply because I found a "50% off brake pads" coupon online. 50% off! Hoo boy! I brought my car in to the shop at 8:30am as requested. The mechanic was friendly enough -- said they'd take a gander at it, and let me know how much it would cost. He then disappeared into the shop, and I busied myself with reading celebrity trash magazines until he reappeared 20 minutes later with some bad news: Not only did I need new brake pads, but the specific style of my car required four hours of labor to put them on. (For the record, I drive a Hyundai Accent, not a DeLorean.) To add insult to injury, he told me that I had copious amounts of brake fluid leaking from my rear cylinders. "If you let this go unfixed," he said with stern eyes, "your brake lines will seize up, your brake pedal will hit the floor, you won't be able to stop, and you will go careening off a bridge into the Mississippi River at 90 miles per hour, ensuring your certain death." (That's what I heard, anyway.) From his tone of voice, I might as well have had bloody spinal fluid leaking from my ass. THIS. WAS. SERIOUS. I asked for an estimate, and he printed one out for me -- $600 worth of labor, and over $300 in parts. And that was with the 50% off. And that, quite literally, would have been all the money I had in the world. After bawling my eyes out for approximately 3 minutes, I composed myself and told him I needed to get a second opinion. "Okay," he said, in that displeased tone your mother probably uses when you bring home a guy with neck tattoos and a 4-gauge septum piercing. "It's your car." And this, friends, was my moment of salvation. Because when my regular mechanic hoisted my car up on his lift and took off my tires, he showed me: there were no leaks to be found. My brake lines were not minutes away from exploding. My cylinders were perfectly intact, my brake fluid levels were full, and the only thing I needed were two new brake pads in the front. Total cost including labor? $90. Approximately a tenth of what I would have paid at Meineke. And presto, my car runs like a wet dream once more. In summary: Suck it, Meineke. I may wear high heels and red lipstick and not know shit about cars, but I'm smart enough to get a second opinion. Too…read moreoften, I've walked away feeling uncomfortable, judged for not knowing as much about my vehicle as the professionals, or worse -- wondering if I'd been taken advantage of by places that inflate prices or push unnecessary services. Thankfully, that was not my experience at Turbo Tim's. From the very start, things felt different. Before my appointment, I received a fair and transparent estimate for the AC issues I was concerned about. When I arrived, Mike greeted me with a friendly smile and explained the process clearly -- no jargon, no pressure, just honesty. One big bonus? They offer a free ride service for locals to and from the shop. I've never had that before, and it made dropping off my car so much easier. They also communicated throughout the day via text with updates, which I really appreciated. When I came back to pick up my car, the bill was walked through step-by-step, and I was told that if the issue worsens, I can bring it back within a year for a free assessment or fix. It's clear they strive to make everyone feel welcome, no matter their level of car knowledge -- and it shows. I'll definitely keep Turbo Tim's in mind for future repairs. And on a lighter note, the shop's fish tank is pretty cool... and there are multiple friendly shop cats wandering around. I hope they're paid generously in treats and love.

As a busy Northeast teacher, it can be difficult to answer the phone in the middle of the day. Their service always makes it easy and goes above and beyond! Prices are easily comparable to the rest of the market if not even a little cheaper!
