I've been a patient here for over 10 years, and unfortunately this will be my last. The quality of service and work has gone downhill, and my most recent experience was the final straw. First, the receptionist was incredibly rude. I stood at the counter waiting to check in, and she didn't greet me, acknowledge me, or say a single word. Completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. Second, my husband and I have had crowns done here less than two years ago, and during both our annual X-ray they found cavities under the crowns. That should not happen if the crowns were sealed and done correctly. Because insurance only covers replacement crowns after 10 years, we were stuck paying $540 out of pocket--even though their poor work caused the issue. Thankfully one of our newer insurance policies covered a small portion or else it'll be much higher, but still, this should never have been necessary. Between the rude front desk service and the subpar dental work, we're done. After a decade with this office, we're leaving because it's clear the care and professionalism are no longer what they used to be. After going to so many dentist offices in my life, I have never found any dental place as wonderful as Comfort Family Dentistry! I have always been afraid of going to dentist, just because I feel like it's going to be painful and uncomfortable experience. But going to Comfort Family has changed my perspective about going to dental office. The people that work there are very friendly, the front desk is very thorough in explaining how my insurance works and their prices seem to be lower than other offices in the area, and I feel I am getting better customer service and and better quality dental care here! I've referred many co-workers and my entire family including my kids go here. They LOVE the fact they can watch movies while they have their teeth worked on! The front desk is always on top of reminding me about my appointments, by text and e-mail. I use Dr Chens practice in Covington and I LOVE this place! The staff is so friendly and I have gotten top notch care there. This is the first dentist that I have ever had where I actually look forward to going! They have a staff member there named Leilani that I swear should do stand up comedy. Excellent and competent staff from the front desk to the hygenists and the dentists. They squeezed me in for a root canal which I thought would be an awful procedure. It was done with no pain, no infection, not much more than a filling and the final crown is perfect. I've had a couple cleanings and am always happy with the service and the staff. I am planning to bring my 82 year old neighbor here to see about dentures. She is nervous, but I think this is the right place for her. read more

RUN as fast as you can away from this place!!!!! I had gone there to get a bridge and paid half up front. The bridge never fit , so I was not going to pay for it and never had it put in, yet they still wanted to chatge me. When I went back, Gutti said she needed to pull a tooth, The assistant came in and rubbed my gum quickly with the novacaine and Gutti started at me with the needle to numb the gums. I asked if we should wait until the novacane started working and she said no. She was almost on top of me and I asked her to stop and she wouldn't. Then she shot saline solution right behind the shot. I was crying and she was ruthless. I have now reported her to the ADA and consulted my atty. It's all about the money for her. I went to Comfort Family Dentistry for a teeth cleaning and had such a relaxing, easy experience! (I can't believe I'm saying that about going to the dentist!) The office is absolutely beautiful - clean, innovative and warm. Dr Hsieh and Myra cleaned my teeth - they were delightful, gentle and so fun to spend the 45 minutes. I watched TV while they were working on my teeth. The rest of the staff were also extremely friendly and accommodating. **Update- After calling me on the phone and threating me- Dr Chen has now sent me a letter threatening me with legal action if I don't remove this review. She says in letter: "Making false statements and comments on the internet is considered a slander and can instigate legal action". They have now gone to their malpractice attorneys to fight a Dept. of Health complaint I filed against them. Never go there! They did a bad cavity filling- they didn't get it all. I complained for a year- they just put me on medication to "calm the nerve". Then I got an abscess tooth and they told me it was b/c I cracked it and it for sure had to be extracted. I went to a specialist and found out that the infection had completely rotted out the root b/c they didn't get it all and that had they caught it earlier- something could have been done about it. I ended up having to have a root canal (at 15 weeks pregnant b/c they didn't catch it the # of times I had been in there earlier) and no extraction- they were wrong again! So far they have cost me out of pocket- not including insurance costs- $1620. I gave them a chance to correct what they had done- they agreed to repay the $25 copayment from when they first put in the filling. Over a $1000 later and I had to put my pregnancy at risk- they could care less. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

It's hard to find a place where you're comfortable "letting your hair down" especially in a dental office but I must say this office is truly a step above the rest!! I can't tell you how many wonderful things I love about this place from the hours that the doors are open to the hours the doors are closed, the doctors who are fully competent of treating any type of dental issue: There. At the office. Without having to refer you out for every single potentially difficult situation that may arise...but they also know when it would be appropriate to do so because they really do want you to feel completley comfortable and have your visits run as smoothly as possible. They cater to cowards!! And they advertise same day care if you have an emergency they will find time for you because let's face it none of us ever plan on breaking a tooth or wake up with half your face swollen. I was able to get treatment the same day that I did my exam with the doctor. I've always had to schedule those appointments and other places so I really like the convenience of getting things rolling. They have options for people who don't have any insurance and they also offer Care Credit. Most of the staff have been there for years. That tells you a lot about the environment. they are up-to-date with high-tech equipment and there's even an area for your kids to hang out if they don't want to be with you in the room while you're getting treatment. Each treatment chair has a DVD player mounted to it so you can watch movies while you are being worked on. But the best thing, I think, is that my assistant wiped down the headphones and the remote before handing them to me. she also took the time to clean the hand mirror of fingerprints from whoever had previously been using it when trying to show me what was going on inside my mouth which not only made me feel special and in good hands but also a participant in formulating a game plan of attack that would work with my schedule and my wallet!!!! read more

I'm shocked to see some of the other reviews of this location. They are SO different from what I experienced!!! Showed up for two scheduled appointments here and never actually saw the actual dentist! From the beginning, I was shocked by the unbelievably bad reception and customer service on the phone and in person. Very unprofessional attire and demeanor. It didn't seem like anyone in the office knew what they were talking about - definitely immature and untrained/under-educated. When I called to make my initial appointment, I told the receptionist I was pregnant and would be declining x-rays, which she said was not a problem at all. I showed up for my first appointment, only to wait 35 minutes past my appointment time, and then once I inquired at the front desk, was told it would be another 15-20 minutes before they would be able to see me. They were "running a little bit behind today" she told me. 50 minutes late for an appointment? That is not "running a little behind," that is reason enough to call me ahead of time and reschedule, or at the bare minimum, tell me when I come in to the office that I'm going to be waiting for a while and to go get a coffee or something. I worked for a clinic, and I understand providers running late, but that is just unacceptable. People leave work early, or leave their kids with babysitters to come to these appointments - and then to just sit for an hour waiting for your appointment to start? NOT ok. After being there 40 minutes just waiting for my appointment, I had to leave to get back to my son and rescheduled my appointment. Arrived for the rescheduled appointment, was taken back to the chair, and then asked if I would like x-rays today. "No, I'm seven months pregnant," I said. Any physician will tell you that most dental care in pregnancy is safe, but to decline x-rays. She asks how far along I am, as if that matters, since I am declining anyway, and then tells me that x-rays are required for them to clean my teeth. I told her that when I called the receptionist said it was not a problem to decline, and she goes to ask the dentist. She returns to tell me they are required for me to be seen, and asks if I would be willing to do a few anyway, because it's "not a big deal." Absolutely not. Another hour of my time spent away from home with my son being watched by someone else - another wasted morning. I don't know where these dentists were trained or whose daughter was hired to do the office/hygienist work for a summer job, but in multiply pregnancies, I've never had someone insist I get x-rays in order to have a teeth cleaning. The fact that I spent a good two hours of time just sitting in this office and still left without my teeth cleaned, is unbelievable to me. Go somewhere else - the hassle and frankly concerning lack of service offered at this location could never make me feel safe going here for any kind of medical care. read more

Decided to give this place a chance. I had Sarah and Dr. Chen. I felt the doctor was a bit rude. Sarah seemed nice. When I looked at the yelp reviews, I noticed Sarah was one of the 5 star ratings. To me, employees giving a business 5 star ratings to increase their yelp score is very dishonest. I don't know the rest of the staff, but if she wrote a review, how many other employees are giving 5 star reviews. I spoke with someone I know who used to be with them. He complained that the doctors did not keep their promises to him. I experienced this too. I was told that the male dentist would call me back, but he didn't. The waiting room is small, and the dental exam rooms are as well. They do appear to be clean, I'll give them that. All in all, I just don't get a good feeling for this place. Went to Covington and found a dental office there that was far superior. That dentist also went through the trouble of explaining to me my insurance benefits. No other dentist explained it all to me (not just comfort family). That's the kind of service I expect. Not the mediocre, cookie cutter service I received here. read more

Worst office ever, after we moved to area we found this dentist office. All was ok at first, then my child had to have a cavity filled, less than a month later she was still in pain, went back only to be told she needed to have a root canal on same tooth the just filled. Was told that sometimes this happens when it is a deep cavity, ok do why not mention this before hand and give options. On the second one my child no longer trusted this dentist. On my anniversary i had tge very back tooth break, and rather than fux and cap it, i was told only option was to pull. Only to find out later that it could have been saved esp since it had a root canal already. So i too moved to a new dentist. The lone hold out in family my husband who had a few different things done, he is terrified of dentist so he needed a lot of work. He had an inpkant from years ago (different dentist) fall out it was the front tooth, he was told only way to fix was to do a bridge, so we had this done, less than 2 yrs later it has broken out. Broke all teeth it was attached to,. And now at new dentist we have found out teeth where ground too small to hold bridge, and bridge was instailled incorrectly, and did not seal properly, causeing one of the ground teeth to need root canal. And to top it all off insuance will not cover as less than 2 yrs. If you are looking for dentist please run from this one you will only open yourself to pain, and empty pickets. I have a huge issue with the dentist in the first place, was a very happy client at first, then i had to have extractions done, something happened and I developed a HUGE blood clot in my mouth, couldn't get an answer with the "emergency" phone number provided so ended up in the er, which cost me even more $ on top of the extractions, went in the next day and "everything is fine" after a glance. Same thing happened the following day and the Dr then put in normal sutures but charged my insurance for follow up xrays. Then I decided to switch dentists due to the trauma from my last experience and turns out a cavity that was filled was done incorrectly and now need to be redone. I would be very careful going to this office. I have received nothing but excuse after excuse on why things like this are happening, I am currently trying to get them to reverse what they charged my insurance so i can have this tooth taken care of the correct way. read more
