The one thing that did stress me out was the number of unattended children running around super close to the open fire pits. I was shocked they let kids so close without supervision, we watched a group of young kids setting marshmallows on fire and running g around and their parents were in one of the cabins quite far away unable to even see them. It seemed dangerous to allow. Other than that I had a great time! Please just watch your kids if you are bringing them.

Oh just having a beer while the kids played on repurposed tires and listening to live music in Woodbury's own pop-up park behind a slightly ghetto liquor store off of Route 45. The back of said building was recently covered with a colorful graffiti style mural by artist Will Kasso, and that's just the beginning. So I guess what happened was that the FAF decided what we all needed this summer was a place in town to hang out with friends and family in a cool, fun & free art space? And they were right! Volunteers must have worked really hard to create this whimsical space that boasts an outdoor stage, play areas plus games like a massive chess set, bowling lanes and more. The journey is documented on their Facebook page. In the past, we've attended amazing fall arts festivals thrown by this group and marveled at the energy and spirit that apparently still thrive in a town known more for its decline. The FAF has totally outdone themselves with 2016's Lot 323. It will be open every day in July & August for people to just come and chill out. Friday evenings from 6:30-9:30 there are free concerts and a beer stand, vendors and craft tables. At any rate, you can check it out online. Cancel out all the beers you're going to drink with an (untimed) 5K run (literally) by the Fishtown Beer Runners starting at 12. $25 gets you a free tshirt, plastic cup, tote bag, free water, and most importantly, 2 drink tickets (Thanks for the registration Yelp!)! This year's course had a mural challenge where you could win a pint glass for posting 5 pictures. The course is (lightly) marked, and with the help of directing volunteers at each turn, only a few people got lost! The course runs through regular streets and is not blocked off so watch out for cars, pedestrians, dog poop, etc. 2. Super kid friendly - there's hula hoops, a bouncy castle, live music, face painters, crafts, and other games! 3. Drinks - lots of local beer options, which is great. No cocktails or wine, but there was a cider! tall tables for you to enjoy your beverages. 4. Food - not a ton of options (3-4 trucks- Biscuit's Biscuits, Kung Fu Hoagie, Cow and the Curd and a few others), but a nice seating area with picnic tables. 5. Vendors - not too crowded, so lots of space to walk around and enter contests! With less people you have higher chances of winning! I won a gift card basket with gift cards from uber, netflix, and wine and spirits! They also had some cool Fishtown shirts, and the usual cool jewelry, local realtors, etc. 6. Great views of the river and the Ben Franklin Bridge!

What a cute little festival in a nice open space! I won a bib for the 5K through a Yelp contest…read more(thanks Yelp!) and made my way down to the 2015 festival. The 5K was a fun run and super laid back. It was a nice way to tour Fishtown, a neighborhood I usually don't frequent. After the run, I was able to claim my run swag bag and tickets into the beer tent. The beer tent wasn't huge but it had a solid representation of 2nd Story Brewing, Evil Genius, Do Good (a new brewery local to Port Richmond), Fat Tire, St Benjamin, Philadelphia Brewing Company, Neshaminy Creek and Kurant Cider. It was a bit of a bummer you had to keep the beer within the beer tent and couldn't walk the grounds though. Outside of the beer tent, there were about 5-6 food trucks which included Scratch Biscuits, Mom-Mom's, Philly Fry and a few others. I think my favorite part of the entire event was their pet tent area. They had several local shelters set up shop to promote their rescue organizations. They even brought some adoptable dogs and cats to the event. I thought I knew I was pretty well versed in Philly's local rescue organizations, but I learned about a few new ones like City of Elderly Love and Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia. In addition to all of the rescue pups, a lot of festival-goers brought their own dogs. It was adorable city! There were also a few rows of some great craft vendors and services. And did I mention the live music? A stage was set up with acts brought in through WXPN near the beer tent. All of this happened in the huge Penn Treaty Park. I'm definitely adding the Rivercity Festival to my list of festivals to attend again in the future.

Every weekend, Sat. and Sun., and now some sneak attacks during the week--we are subjected to 10 hrs a day of loud music in excess of the local noise ordinance by 100% and attendees taking all the parking spots! Forget trying to sell our homes, as who would want to live here?! This is not the appropriate location for this kind of thing! And since it is operated by the township, they break their own laws and make no apologies or concessions to the residents. It's a "good ol' boys" frat house without the walls. It's a stupid, irresponsible waste of taxpayers' money at our OWN expense. They need to cut the music and charge for parking. I have no idea how they call it a "success" when they rent the tents, equipment, stage, use township employees to maintain it and don't charge a cover charge or a parking fee. The only income to the township is some stipend from the $6 beers. This can't go away soon enough.

The Westmont Farmers Market at the Square, The stores, restaurants and the Square events keep families walking around town. Love seeing the children dancing to the music during the day and adults enjoying neighbors/friends in the evenings. Great events, many family friendly. Benefits and fundraisers for local sports etc. Theme nights like Octoberfest and Severinos Pasta Night Dinner are always a big hit. Beer lines and bathroom lines can get a bit long but it's a popular venue. Mixed age crowd, some bands better than others. Music isn't spectacular /loud but doesn't ruin the night. Events end at 10 so get there early. Home values are great in the area thanks to all Haddon Twp has to offer. We travel back for Haddon Square events. Many people we meet have heard of Haddon Square and talk about the events. Worth a stop.

The TNT track club had 2 qualifiers running and it was a well ran meet. Thursday through Sunday watching the best track and field athletes compete was wonderful. Franklin field will always be one of my favorite tracks ! Facilities are top notch they just need to work on attitudes with some of their staff members as they like tend to forget the athletes, coaches and spectators are how they are getting paid. Kindness goes along way .

I went a…read morefew years ago and remember it being pretty small and close to Headhouse Square, with limited food options. This year was located around Bainbridge Green and seemed bigger and better (although still somewhat limited food). Free stuff: it was a good haul: spun an indego wheel for some gummies, could have gotten some free sunglasses and pens, tote bag, coupon, and banana from Mom's Organic Market, 10 min scalp massage on site from Eviama (amazing!), and the company giving out $20 food coupons for taking 10 selfies was incredible. Also remember to bring clothing for the swap (for every piece you bring I think you get one piece). Saw some girls with free recycling bins. Activities: sit and enjoy live music (West Philly Orchestra was there), climb a free rock wall, do yoga in the morning, learn about lots of green things (think:composting.) Eat and Drink: Kung Fu Hoagies (vegan banh mis) seems to be a staple, this year also had Humptys Dumplings, some boozy popsicles, Bridget Foys tent had mimosas and popcorn, and there was another Asian tent with skewers and spring rolls. These can be bought with $10 food tickets you can purchase at the end. Constructive Criticism: seems a bit ironic that Greenfest exhibitors would be handing out flyers, and food and drinks in plastic and paper plates (although many of these are recyclable). Could be cool to offer discounts for people who bring their own cup? Check it out if you're free, but I wouldn't rearrange my weekend around it.

The fest is coordinated by Clean Air Council Philly which promotes living a greener life in every way you can imagine and in some ways you probably never though of. All the yoga, organic fruit, yummy plant based noms and animal saving you can handle. This year the festival expanded beyond just Head House Square, down to South Street at 3rd. The festival includes really great live music of all kinds, many local artisans and of course, many amazing food vendors such as My Soy Cafe, Nomad Pizza, Flora from Jenkintown and personal favorites (and always a bigger line) Kung Fu Hoagies and Gangster Vegan from Norristown. (Look out for their new brick and mortar opening in University City soon!!) This year there were cooking classes with some of Philly's favorite vegan gems like Ms Rachel's Pantry (fav), Revolution Taco and P'unk Burger. There's a fun kids' corner sponsored by Mom's Organic who is always on hand dishing out FREE goodie bags and produce! (Oh, and they're opening up a shop right here in the city at 10th & Market in Dec/Jan 2016.) The kiddos could participate in FREE yoga, build and play with natural wood toys, sculpting, painting and meditate, even rock climb! Way cool! Honestly, the festival is a great place for us freaky veg-heads to gather every year, but also for anyone who wants to venture out and try some of the most delicious animal friendly food you will ever have and learn about how we can all make the planet a little better!
