I came to the mall today specifically to get my free pretzel for national pretzel day from Auntie Anne's. There's also a Wetzel pretzel practically across from this beer and wine store. I did not partake in that because the line was way too long. That's why I decided to stop in choice Wine and beer before heading out to the parking garage. I specifically had in mind what I wanted to buy. Flying Dog Truth Unleashed IPA variety pack. I found one 12 pack left. It was $25.99, but they had a 10% off all beer sale, which saved me $2.80. I didn't know they applied a credit card surcharge of 3.00%. Is this a new thing? I would have paid in cash. Had I known they did this since I had enough money in my wallet. I'm sad that Costco in Wheaton doesn't have any alcohol (or any costco in Maryland) but it's awesome that this place is right next door AND they'll allow you to bring your shopping cart in, so that makes up for it. The staff here are also extremely friendly and very helpful. They'll give you honest opinions and if they don't have what you're looking for, they can order it for you. They have a pretty go selection of wine and craft beers. read more

Troubling experience at this store today, typically the employees are pleasant and the store overall has a good selection of local beer. Placed an item on the counter to purchase, and totally unprompted, was told by the cashier that what I was purchasing has a "cancer causing" taste to it, and that he doesn't drink it. Proceeded to say he is "old school" and told us how he makes his drinks. Then he proceeded to point out that the brewery on the shirt I'm wearing engages in "price gouging" and sneered at me. I had already been rung up or else I would have just walked out. On what planet does someone working in retail insult customers for their choices at the STORE THEY ARE WORKING AT? Apparently this place has been here for awhile but I've never noticed until last week. Maybe it was because I went through a different entrance than I normally do. It was Black Friday after all and everywhere was packed. After I finished shopping, I figured I'd treat myself with a glass of red wine. thought, "how convenient" to have a wine and beer store in the mall. After seeing those prices, I think not. I didn't want anything fancy but a bottle that costs $10 at most places was $15 here. No thanks! The store was clean and the employees were nice, but limited selections and way overpriced! read more

The workers here are what makes this place deserving of 5 stars. They are funny, kind, and extremely knowledgeable! If you have questions about a product, odds are they've tried it. They also are very helpful if you're looking for something but can't find it. The selection of beers and wines is awesome in my opinion. They cover all price ranges in such a small shop. They carry the more hip and new products which I find to be unique. The beer selection is great, I've never had to leave disappointed. Overall the store is very clean and welcoming. Great location, Choice Wine and Beer!! If you want to get a few Costco pizzas for your friends on the weekend, you can stop here and get some beers as well. Now any mall trip is an excuse to grow your wine and/or beer collection/stash. The staff was nice, the store is well organized and clean, and they have both chilled 6 packs and just shelved boxes as well. I'll have to come back to check out the wine selection fully, and maybe I'll run into a wine tasting like I did last time. read more

I recently visited Choice Wine & Beer to look for a gift for a friend. I was told to find a white wine Riesling; however, being unfamiliar with wine and the nuances of alcohol overall, I was highly overwhelmed by the available selections in this store. I looked for a sign that said either "White Wines" or "Rieslings" or something that could help guide me on my own. There was no such sign available. Two people were working in the store, one woman behind the register and another guy walking around dusting the shelves. After walking around the store aimlessly for about 15-20 minutes, I heard the guy ask another couple, who just walked in and happened to be white if he could help them with anything. He proceeded to guide the couple around the store and willfully answered their questions. The couple was able to get their questions answered, selected their product, and was checked out. Meanwhile, I was left to literally stand in the middle of the store, perplexed and dismayed at the poor level of customer service that I was receiving. The guy then returned to dusting the shelves after helping the couple, continuing to ignore me, a customer, standing in the middle of the store. I decided to share my frustration with the lady behind the register. She apologized and offered to help me. Although I intended to express my disappointment to the young lady and leave the store (because they clearly didn't want my business), she was very friendly. And despite admitting that she was very new and not as knowledgeable about white wines, she at least offered to help where she could. And since that's all I really wanted, I decided to purchase the wine she suggested and another one she laughed at. I just hope the management at Choice Wine & Beer will read this review and remind their team that all customers deserve the same level of high-quality customer service. I suspect that most people walking into a wine & beer store in the mall may not be a connoisseur and would appreciate any advice or suggestions. A little kindness shown to all goes a long way to sustaining and building customer relationships. read more

Great service. Great wine. Great prices! I love a smooth wine in a modest price range. I know that in summer, I like pinot grigiot and in winter a cabernet. But I don't even pretend to have any knowledge of grapes, wines or where they come from. So, I count on staff at the store to advise. At some stores, sales staff use this openness as an excuse to push off low quality wines. Not here. At Choice, the suggestion I got today was spot on. A smooth Pinot Grigiot for under $15.00. I chilled it and am enjoying a glass on this lovely summer evening. Aahhh. Just ask! They'll find your perfect wine too. :) read more

Conveniently located right by Costco and Mayorga Coffee in Wheaton Mall. My "go to" place for wine and sherry. I really do trust their recommendations. read more

This is the only place around here that I've found cool stuff like the Wolffer Estate No. 9 rose cider. Quite a few cider choices, including 12 packs of Angry Orchard. The wine selection is pretty solid too, displayed well. Nice staff. read more

Opened yesterday evening to the public on the eve of the new Costco opening in Westfield Wheaton. The owner, Kiri Patel already owns another business in the mall and will be expanding the wine selection. His desire is to have a clean, safe environment in Wheaton in which to shop for and purchase a nice bottle of wine ranging from $6 to $50. The store will be open during mall hours: 10 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this store. Let's start with the selection. The number of wines they carry is quite extensive considering the size of the business. They pack 'em tight and stack 'em high, so there is definitely something for everyone. If you can't walk out with a bottle of wine at this place, your taste in wine might need to be checked. They carry lots of it at most reasonable price points. As for the beer, their selection started out small, but is constantly growing. This is definitely something I would like to see them focus on. They keep most of it in their fridges, which is great when looking for a beer to drink immediately, but I would love to see them carry a larger selection of more obscure craft beers. Note to the owners: you don't have to keep all your beer cold! The service here is top-notch. One of the associates, Omar, is always enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and you're always sure to be greeted with a smile. Their prices are quite reasonable for the area, especially since the closer you get to the DC border, the more exorbitant the costs. Last, their location couldn't be better. We're all upset that Costco doesn't carry alcohol in Maryland. Fortunately, this place is literally across from the exit, and they allow people to bring in their shopping carts! Four stars, since they're still growing. If they improve that beer selection, they'll be the best in the area. read more

So I go into this place late at night and the only person there is the cashier. Now I go to the back to pick what I want and I hear the cashier laughing out loud with this completely evil laugh. Like had I not seen him when I entered the store I would have ran out of there in a heart beat like in a heart beat. Honey best believe I'm not trying to be the black person in the scary movie that does first I know better!!! Anyways so I'd totally recommend this place the cashier had a great sense of humor yep I totally told him this story. He was super friendly they have a good selection of beers and wines not that great of a selection of sangrias. They had this pumpkin beer that I absolutely love 8.9% alcohol baby like why not love it. Served with a cinnamon sugar rim and you will thank me later!! Since my earlier review, I asked the manager (owner?) if they'd consider carrying one of the less common Dogfishhead beers (Festina Peche!), because I would LOVE to buy it if so. Next time I came in, there it was! Now I buy a case every time I visit, and I'm thrilled because it can be pretty much impossible to find. I really appreciate how the staff pay close attention to what people are buying, what they're looking for, etc., and tweak the selection in response to demand. They're also super friendly and helpful. Choice is now my go-to store. read more

Most overpriced store ever. Staff is super nice but not knowledgeable. Example deliria is $18.99 here whereas everywhere else it's $12.99. Everything in this store has huge overpriced markups. Avoid at all costs and goto a real store with real prices. read more
