Worst store in Montgomery County. The woman clerk, whom I assume owns the place, is very rude, racist and prejudice. She snatches money from you, returns your change on the counter, doesn't acknowledge customers until after several attempts and just overall bad customer service. On top of that, the store isn't all that clean. There are definitely better places to shop for quality beer and wine. Oh, did I mention the prices are inflated, most of the wine bottle are covered with dust and there is a minimum dollar amount before using card transactions. She was rude to not only my friend but also me. Sad thing, we approached the counter for two separate transactions. So his encounter had nothing to do with my encounter but we both were treated poorly. This weekend was my last time visiting that store. If you want to be treated fairly and with respect, don't shop there. read more

My 21 year old daughter has a PA drivers license and is in Maryland for the summer. Knowing the issues with Maryland not accepting vertical licenses, as her parent I upgraded her junior PA license early and to a real ID so she wouldn't run into problems. Tonight she presented at Party Time to purchase a bottle of alcohol. The clerk was refusing to sell, threatened her that he was going to call the police, and put her drivers license in his little box of confiscated ID's. She wanted him to contact the police, because it's discriminatory and felt they can ensure him that her ID was not fake. Can no one visit, travel, or do an internship in Maryland without being harassed by a clerk who will endanger the youth by forcing them to drive without a license because they are not trained to do their job? I phoned the store to inquire and the man said "many stores don't take out of state". He indicated his scanner is down, and admitted he didn't ask her for other proof. I get that they need to be sure, however confiscating because your scanner is broke, are not trained in out of state ID's is uncalled for as now they are putting people on the roads with no drivers license. He only released it when she phoned me and had me on speaker. I myself was ready to phone the police to get her ID back. This store needs better policies and additional training. read more

Sunday night, the day before labor day. We had an urge to have some "fun". So at 11:45 we are driving around trying to find a beer store that was opened, and whata you know, we ended up at this place. The beer selection was huge and they had everything. My roommate was just listing everything that he loved and they had every single one of them. They also had pumpkin beer! Anyways, this place was really awesome, we roamed around for about 15 minutes, checked out and left. The lady was really nice. She told us they open till 12 am every night except Friday and Saturday which they are opened until 1am. Good to know! read more

Today I went to buy $2.75 worth of goods, but I only had $20 bills to pay with. After "Ms. Kim" (as I'm told she's called) chatted me up with a smile on her face, she proceeded to return to me $7.54 in change for my $2.75 purchase with a $20 bill. Distracted by exchanging pleasantries with a new store owner that I have never met before, I walked out of the store and onto the sidewalk only to discover what I believed at the time to be her "error.' When I went back inside to confront her politely about the miscalculation in change, she proceeded to claim that I had given her "an old style $10 bill" and picked it up out of the register to wave in my face like a child. After several pleas to give me back my $10.00 in change that was rightfully owed to me, I gave up in frustration and had to call the county police in order for her to return me my $10.00. The point of this review is that the owner is a thief who will attempt to steal large portions of your change in hopes that you are not paying attention. After relating my story to several people in the area, they all jumped at the opportunity to warn me -- after the fact -- that Ms. Kim is a larcenous huckster. I don't know about you, but I will never give my money to this thief ever again!!! read more

Great selection of beer but man do you have to watch yourself at this place. I've found beer that expired over two years ago still sitting on the shelf! Also I noticed a earlier review that warned people to be wary of Ms. Kim returning the wrong change in order to pocket some extra cash, while I've never experienced this first hand I've had friends who have. Party time is my go to if I want to grab a six pack of natty boh or a mainstream craft beer. I agree with the reviews about alot of the speciality crafts being on the shelf for too long though. Unfortunately most of party times patrons are only interested in macro brews so they can't really cycle through the interesting ones. Wine selection is very good though. I give them credit for them staying open till midnight in wheaton. They have to deal with alot of BS from the local drunks. So I'm going to give them 4 out of 5 due to them for surviving despite these issues and being located in the hostile business climate of Montgomery County. read more

Moved to MoCo after living in the southeast where I thought liquor laws were restrictive! Montgomery has most of the south licked with their weird no beer in the grocery store and lacking selections due to distribution. But at party time there is a good selection, better than we have been able to find over the past year and half in the area (excluding other counties). We drive over from rockville to pick up beer and she even ordered a case of wine for me. While some of the beers are overpriced (abita, for example), its made up for in the good selection and overall fair prices for the area. read more

I've purchased beer here multiple times...the prices are high but the selection is good. After my last visit I will NEVER be going back. I was sold a bottle of beer that was FOUR YEARS old. Opened it, surprise! it was bad, and I was refused a full refund when I went back to the store. I bought a bottle of Delirium Noel ($16.99+tax) on Xmas eve for Xmas dinner. Opened it up...flat...chunky...completely skunked. Checked out the 'best by' date. April of 2011!!! WTH!? Poured it out, rinsed and kept the bottle to get my money back. Brought it into the store today. I was offered a $15 store credit, no refund, and not the full value of the beer I had purchased. I was told by the owner that I should have put the cork back in so I could bring it in and show her the beer was bad. What? 1) You can't get a beer cork back in. 2) You want me to keep the opened beer 6 days and then show you? Wouldn't you then just say 'well ofc it's bad, it's been open 6 days,' 3) The bottle is clearly labelled best by April 2011...almost FOUR YEARS AGO. Same as the others on the shelf I brought over to her. DISGUSTING. But no, because I can't prove the beer was bad, I don't get a full refund. Ridiculous. So. Bad prices. Ignorant and unaccommodating ownership. Beer sitting on the shelves that is FOUR YEARS old. I hope the 4 bucks from them was worth me never shopping there again. read more

The good thing about Party Time Beer & Wine is that the selection of craft beers is fairly large; the bad thing is that most of it seems to have been sitting on the shelves for a VERY LONG TIME. This is inexcusable. Beer is perishable and stock needs to be rotated. For instance, I found that most of their beer had enjoy by dates of "sometime/2013"-news flash, we're two months into 2014! There were some exceptionally old gems which read enjoy by "sometime/2012." Yikes. This store's problems extend far past expired beer though. The prices are bad (not that this is a surprise, since this is Montgomery County) and the store is cluttered and sorry looking. The worst thing, though, is the smell. I've been to all kinds of liquor stores-some beautifully well-cared-for, some rank and filthy, and many in between-and none have smelled nearly as bad. This place smells like a decaying rat corpse. No joke. Next time it's party time, I'm taking my dollar to another, more reputable establishment. read more

I've shopped here many many times. Ms. Kim is almost always there and she knows me. It's nice to have a local place where people actually know you and are friendly and nice. Party Time has the best beer selection of any place nearby. And on top of that, they appear to overstock stuff people actually like (what a concept!). For example, long after everyone else runs out of Sam Adams Octoberfest, Party Time still has it. The refrigerators aren't as cold as Elbe's but that's fine so long as you're not running home to drink it right now. Unfortunately, they do not take American Express cards which is understandable for a small business though annoying for me personally. read more

My wife and I have been to a few other beer and wine stores in the area but none compare to Party Time. This place has it all an amazing beer and wine selection. There craft beer selection is the largest around. Not only do they have every beer you could think of. They have an extensive collection of wine to choose from. Prices are much lower than the competition. Looks like my wife and I have found our go to beer and wine store in Silver Spring. read more
