We were traveling this afternoon and stopped a the Choo Choo Restaurant mid afternoon for a meal. Service was excellent, however, I cannot say the same for the food. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans and a side salad. The salad was fine as were the green beans. The meatloaf was a strange texture like puréed meat paste and the flavor was like nothing I have ever had before. It had a sour funky taste. My husband eats everything and he took one bite and said NO The mashed potatoes were instant potatoes that were extremely thick and pasty. The gravy set up like a pudding and was so thick it would not slide off my fork My husband's Reuben was made with deli sliced roast beef, NOT corned beef. He said it was the worst he had ever had. His onion rings were not crunchy, in fact they were so greasy that just picking one up the oil would drip out. The lady at the table next to us noticed our disappointment and she agreed. If you're not from here, you'll be disgusted with how filthy it is lol I shoulda took a picture but what's the point. I watched a waitress grab 3 plates of food, and instead of using a tray to take the food to the table , she put a plate in each hand and the 3rd plate she put on her elbow, then she used her TIT to hold there . Litteraly put her tit on the top of the hamburger to hold it there. Not only was her shirt filthy, that's just foul lol whole place is fucking gross. read more

They get one star because I cant give them zero. My husband is working in new martinsville and this is where he goes to eat. Every time he would use his debit card two days later an extra five dollars would be added for a "tip" I called once, they were great, fixed it, and returned his money that was overcharged. It's started again so I called and this time the person that answered the phone was extremely rude. All she would say was if there was a tip being added he was telling them too ( he wasn't, he tips cash at the table) and hung up on me. I'd avoid them completely. But if you do go, use cash so they can't rip you off. read more

We ordered 15 burgers, over $100 worth. They were thrown together, instead of individual sides for each burger they were all in separate containers making it very difficult to distribute each burger. Heck, the lettuce came in one giant bag. Little over cooked, (reminded me of grade school cafeteria burgers) would have been much easier just going to McDonald's and much less expensive. read more

Not a bad diner. Service was good and friendly, menu is large (which could be an issue), and the food was hot. I ordered the De Railer which had ham/pepperoni/salami, banana peppers, mozzarella cheese, and Italian dressing. The only thing that would make the sandwich better would be homemade bread. We stopped today for a late lunch. The place was almost full. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient. Checking several times to make sure we didn't need anything. I had the Shrimp with home fries and green beans. It was good. My wife ordered a pepperoni roll. It was pepperoni with cheese and marinara sauce on a split bun. Not a pepperoni roll by any WV definition I am aware of. However it was tasty. We would go back if in the area. The prices are very reasonable. read more

They use frozen tasteless meatballs in their spaghetti. The waitress was never around was constantly trying get her attention even for the bill never did receive it went to the register and paid but never see the bill itself. The food was good. However the service was terrible. When asked at checkout if I wanted to leave a tip I said sure and she posted on a screen only she could see and gave me a receipt that only had the total for the meal. I asked is that it? She replied "yep" and hurried off. We weren't even checked on throughout our meal. She didn't deserve a tip with the service we were given, but being kind I was going to leave a couple dollars. For all I know she tipped herself more than the cost of the meal. We tried to call the business afterward on our way home with no answer. Quaint "Mom & Pop" diner. We wanted something different and this was it. Prices are very reasonable. We were here on a Saturday for lunch and IT WAS BUSY. I'm not so sure about this place. Friendly staff for sure, but long waits to pay your ticket. They only have one register, you don't pay at your table. You stand and wait at the bar. They only serve beer in cans. Only alcohol they have. The food portions are insanely too large! I ordered the meatloaf, and it could have feed three adults! If you order anything with cheese on it, expect to get loads of cheese! Prices are good considering you get enough food to feed a horse. This place is always busy. Not much in this area to choose from....I'm assuming that's why. Decent place but if you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend this place. read more
