Acting manager was very rude. Waited over 45 minutes to receive soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. When I went to let the manager know that there were two tables who came in after us that were served before us, she got huffy and stated she didn't need our business. I wanted a local breakfast. I have no idea where the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from. This place has a ton of health code violations. Skip it unless you don't mind other peoples hair in your food. If you are cool with that then chow down. I was there at about 10:00am on a Wednesday and I sat at the counter and the stool I selected allowed me to see into the kitchen where I could see the heat lamps, the deep frier, and the corner of the workstation they have to the right of the doorway. There were 4 employees that I saw working that day- two younger women as waitress/hostess and two older women cooking. One woman had short grey hair (working the workstation near the doorway) and the other had long black hair (she was working the frier). I observed the woman with grey hair retrieve her cell phone from plates stacked on top of the heat lamp station. It turned out that the plates were clean and used in service. I am not sure who got that plate, but it appears that is the spot she keeps her phone as it was there throughout the time I was there. While I was there a table of 3-4 women were served their order. I noticed them because I heard one of them exclaim "oh my God" after the waitress left the food. I turned and saw that the woman was pointing to something on the plate and when the waitress came back over the customer showed her and the waitress took the plate, containing bacon and crinkle fries, and walked to the counter next to me. She pointed to the plate, showing the other waitress who took it into the kitchen, showing the woman with grey hair the issue with the order which turned out to be a long black hair. The hair was wrapped around a piece of bacon which the waitress unwound and she threw the hair away. The woman with grey hair put the plate down on the counter shared by the heat lamps and I watched her rip the bacon in half and throw the formerly hair-wrapped end in the trash and put the plate under the heat lamp. No other food on the plate was discarded. After about 6 minutes of the plate being under the heat lamp the grey haired woman said "order up" and pulled the bacon/crinkle fry plate out from under the heat lamp. She then took both hands palms down and put them on the bacon and fries and moved them around. My guess is she did that so it looked like a new order of fries and bacon. The plate of food was then served to the same table that it came from. Once the plate was delivered, a new plate was given to the waitress as the customers had discovered several hairs tangled into a ball between two pieces of toast on a different plate of food. The waitress again showed her counterpart behind the counter who said "Goddamnit" and took the plate back to the woman with grey hair. I did not see what they did with that plate of food as it was taken out of sight from my vantage point. However, unless there is another trashcan in the kitchen aside from the one next to the heat lamps, they did not throw that plate of food away either. I did notice that no one in the kitchen was wearing any sort of hairnet or hair restraint. I also did not see the woman with grey hair wash her hands after picking up her cell phone, but there may be a sink on the frier-side of the kitchen that I could not see. read more

I liked this place! The ambiance was just as you would expect from a homemade breakfast place, it was cute and felt 'homey'! There is a sign on the door warning you it might take awhile to make and serve your food, so really do come prepared for a bit or long wait. Always in the look out for a good breakfast. I was traveling through today and this place's name jumped off the page. I had to try it out. The place was fairly quaint, unassuming, and downright wonderful. The service was great and the food was really good. Normally, I have to add pepper or salt to the biscuits and gravy to get the right flavor. This plate was absolutely perfect. The flavor was fantastic and the gravy to biscuit ratio was spot on. Not sure I will ever be back in this area as I have only been in West Virginia this one time, but I highly recommend stopping here for a quick good meal. read more

Was really excited to eat here! Went for breakfast this morning. Waited over an hour for food, people who walked in way after us got their food at the same time as us. When we asked what took so long, and why people that came later got food at the same time we were told they called the order in previously. We asked the said people if they called in their order before coming and they laughed and said no. We were also upset because our waitress never checked on us while we waited or after we got our food. We were told by staff if we wanted better service to come earlier in the day (we came at 11). It was the bare minimum, unmet. When I made the comment that I wish the waitress came over to at least bring us refills, I was told that I'm young... meaning I don't understand. I work in the service industry, and I wouldn't treat my customers like this on any level. Ultimately don't go to this place but if you do make sure you go early if you want basic service and your food at a time under an hour. read more

I was at Ruby Hospital and wanted to grab lunch, but not fast food so found Grandmas Kitchen. I'm so glad I did. It's small but welcoming - and lively with conversation. A group of us met up here after an evening exploring Morgantown. This place is easy to miss as it's a small building with parking in the back. The inside is small and cozy and the bathroom may have been an old broom closet. 5 of us were seated at a table and ordered shortly after arriving. I had the large biscuits and gravy, coffee, and home fries. All came out hot and delicious, nothing crazy or over the top, just something Grandma would make. This is a hidden gem on the side of a road mom and pop. Legit, family grandmothers in the back making your breakfast/lunch. Came inside and sat ourselves at the bar. Immediately offered coffee/water. The reason why I gave this restaurant a one star was because it took an hour for our food to come out and when our food came out half of our food was cold then I turned over to look at the kitchen and I saw this yellow stuff on the kitchen tile wall which looked like grease then I saw this bug that was crawling over the floor.
