Good old country home cooking. GREAT food and GREAT service. Reasonable prices and the people there are very welcoming and seem happy that you are there. The food tastes like Grandma herself made it and the servings are large. I would like to say that anytime you are in the area you should try this place. You'll be glad you did. read more

Location has moved! No longer on Dent Rd, now at Morgantown mall. Good food and long waits! They are short staffed with the move, so be prepared. read more

They have moved to the mall, and since then they have completely changed. I had to wait over 20mins to get a servicer. My coffee was only refilled after asking several times, and then going to the bar. The food took an ungodly amount of time. I stopped keeping tracking at the 1 hour mark. Lastly, the food quality has also dropped dramatically as well. read more

Food service ambience would be a start the food was bland i had a long wait for a waitress

Honest good diner food. Out of the way, actual location a little down from where GPS told us. Come in sit down and they were busy, but we were served quickly and enjoyed. So, looking for a local experience not in downtown. Here it is. Ambiance, well it's a local place through and through. read more

Food is made fresh to order so it take a little time especially when its busy but its worth it. I just got a simple 2 egg, dry wheat toast, home fries and grits. I received the biggest bowl of grits I've ever seen in my life for 3 bucks! read more

Great local spot for breakfast. They staff make you feel like one of the locals. I stopped in for breakfast several times and everything I got from the Philly cheesesteak omelet to the breakfast bowl was delicious. read more

Chicken fried steak not children fried steak. My mistake/ typo. Doesn't change the fact that the service was terrible.

Service sucked. They forgot about us and delayed are order. When our breakfast came half the orders "home fries" were under cooked. Coffee was bland at best. Only real positive was my son's pancakes were huge. Overall it gave off a get in and get out vibe unfortunately. read more

I wanted a local breakfast. I have no idea where the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from. This place has a ton of health code violations. Skip it unless you don't mind other peoples hair in your food. If you are cool with that then chow down. I was there at about 10:00am on a Wednesday and I sat at the counter and the stool I selected allowed me to see into the kitchen where I could see the heat lamps, the deep frier, and the corner of the workstation they have to the right of the doorway. There were 4 employees that I saw working that day- two younger women as waitress/hostess and two older women cooking. One woman had short grey hair (working the workstation near the doorway) and the other had long black hair (she was working the frier). I observed the woman with grey hair retrieve her cell phone from plates stacked on top of the heat lamp station. It turned out that the plates were clean and used in service. I am not sure who got that plate, but it appears that is the spot she keeps her phone as it was there throughout the time I was there. While I was there a table of 3-4 women were served their order. I noticed them because I heard one of them exclaim "oh my God" after the waitress left the food. I turned and saw that the woman was pointing to something on the plate and when the waitress came back over the customer showed her and the waitress took the plate, containing bacon and crinkle fries, and walked to the counter next to me. She pointed to the plate, showing the other waitress who took it into the kitchen, showing the woman with grey hair the issue with the order which turned out to be a long black hair. The hair was wrapped around a piece of bacon which the waitress unwound and she threw the hair away. The woman with grey hair put the plate down on the counter shared by the heat lamps and I watched her rip the bacon in half and throw the formerly hair-wrapped end in the trash and put the plate under the heat lamp. No other food on the plate was discarded. After about 6 minutes of the plate being under the heat lamp the grey haired woman said "order up" and pulled the bacon/crinkle fry plate out from under the heat lamp. She then took both hands palms down and put them on the bacon and fries and moved them around. My guess is she did that so it looked like a new order of fries and bacon. The plate of food was then served to the same table that it came from. Once the plate was delivered, a new plate was given to the waitress as the customers had discovered several hairs tangled into a ball between two pieces of toast on a different plate of food. The waitress again showed her counterpart behind the counter who said "Goddamnit" and took the plate back to the woman with grey hair. I did not see what they did with that plate of food as it was taken out of sight from my vantage point. However, unless there is another trashcan in the kitchen aside from the one next to the heat lamps, they did not throw that plate of food away either. I did notice that no one in the kitchen was wearing any sort of hairnet or hair restraint. I also did not see the woman with grey hair wash her hands after picking up her cell phone, but there may be a sink on the frier-side of the kitchen that I could not see. read more

Acting manager was very rude. Waited over 45 minutes to receive soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. When I went to let the manager know that there were two tables who came in after us that were served before us, she got huffy and stated she didn't need our business. This is not my first visit to this restaurant. Usually staff is very nice and understanding when things go wong. It's a pity that this manager was so rude! I really liked this restaurant. I no longer recommend it! read more

Well,we tried breakfast at the new place on 7-12..And once again, ownership had learned nothing about organization in a restaurant. No host stand,ya know,Everytime you go in there it's a free for all..People seating themselves, servers that have no clue where they have tables,no idea who came in before who.My server yesterday was Zach.. informed me it was his 1st day waiting tables.Within 30 seconds,I could tell this poor kid had zero training and he got thrown to the wolves on a Sunday morning breakfast crowd. We both ordered the open faced omelette.. food comes out a half hour later, and both plates are incorrect.. Takes another 20-25 minutes to get this resolved..Foodwise,it was ok,nothing special,Ownership has a potential gold mine with this place.. but they're too damm cheap to actually hire someone to host..won't be back, too much chaos going on.. I hope they find their way..and I wish them the best... read more

Always in the look out for a good breakfast. I was traveling through today and this place's name jumped off the page. I had to try it out. The place was fairly quaint, unassuming, and downright wonderful. The service was great and the food was really good. Normally, I have to add pepper or salt to the biscuits and gravy to get the right flavor. This plate was absolutely perfect. The flavor was fantastic and the gravy to biscuit ratio was spot on. Not sure I will ever be back in this area as I have only been in West Virginia this one time, but I highly recommend stopping here for a quick good meal. read more

I liked this place! The ambiance was just as you would expect from a homemade breakfast place, it was cute and felt 'homey'! There is a sign on the door warning you it might take awhile to make and serve your food, so really do come prepared for a bit or long wait. Other than that the people were very very nice and over was pleasant! read more

Great hometown place, comfortable vibe like the name suggests. Pancakes are enormous! Give it a try

Good ole time country cooking. Daily specials, home made desserts and soups. Reasonable prices. Closes at 3pm

Excellent good. Great customer service and extremely accommodating. And the food was definitely southern.

Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly local place. Limited parking. Cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee and visit with the locals.

Food was very good and service excellent. Don't let the outside of the restaurant dissuade you

Amazing food. I had the hot roast beef special. Soooo good! Before going there, I'd read it was in a dive like atmosphere in one review. That's not true. It's not in the most "atmospheric" location but it's where the locals go for some serious down home cooking....and justifiably so. Friendly service too! Get there! read more

Was really excited to eat here! Went for breakfast this morning. Waited over an hour for food, people who walked in way after us got their food at the same time as us. When we asked what took so long, and why people that came later got food at the same time we were told they called the order in previously. We asked the said people if they called in their order before coming and they laughed and said no. We were also upset because our waitress never checked on us while we waited or after we got our food. We were told by staff if we wanted better service to come earlier in the day (we came at 11). It was the bare minimum, unmet. When I made the comment that I wish the waitress came over to at least bring us refills, I was told that I'm young... meaning I don't understand. I work in the service industry, and I wouldn't treat my customers like this on any level. Ultimately don't go to this place but if you do make sure you go early if you want basic service and your food at a time under an hour. read more

Service was rather slow. Certainly a local joint, kinda felt out of place being there. Lol. Food was ok but not great. Old school booth to eat in, rather small space. I'd go back in Pinch. Had a Mexican omelette, nothing Mexican about it other than salsa on it. Even with the perceived negative review, don't let it keep you from giving them a try, just wasn't for us. read more

Food took over an hour. The menu was Basic. The food was Bland. The iced tea was warm. Don't recommend.

Decided to take my Pop's out for a a late breakfast and came upon this little gem-quaint restaurant with wonderful atmosphere. The food took a bit to come out but it was worth the wait! A group of us met up here after an evening exploring Morgantown. This place is easy to miss as it's a small building with parking in the back. The inside is small and cozy and the bathroom may have been an old broom closet. 5 of us were seated at a table and ordered shortly after arriving. I had the large biscuits and gravy, coffee, and home fries. All came out hot and delicious, nothing crazy or over the top, just something Grandma would make. The home fries were very crispy and the biscuits and gravy were just right. Overall this was a solid place to come on a quiet morning. It's good plain breakfast food for a good price. Would recommend this place as a solid stop to fill up without breaking the bank. read more

I was at Ruby Hospital and wanted to grab lunch, but not fast food so found Grandmas Kitchen. I'm so glad I did. It's small but welcoming - and lively with conversation. I loved the atmosphere and family photos on the wall. The waitress was busy but greeted me, grabbed my drink order and hurried along. I ordered breakfast and it arrived pretty quickly. The pancake was HUGE but very tasty. Loved the bacon and sausage too! I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the hospital area... read more

This is a hidden gem on the side of a road mom and pop. Legit, family grandmothers in the back making your breakfast/lunch. Came inside and sat ourselves at the bar. Immediately offered coffee/water. Food took just a tad bit of time but I attest that to how busy they were. The food was homemade, loaded with real potato's, eggs, and bacon that tastes like it was a local pig farm. The French toast is home made. I mean everything here taste like home. I was so impressed with the friendly crew, how homey the food is, the excellent affordable prices, that I plan for this place to be a regular at least 2x a month for me on the weekends. That says something about this place. Hidden gem, but found now! read more
