I'd like to preface this review that I only gave 5 stars because I can't give 10! When I pulled in I knew this was a place where everyone knows everyone that walks through the doors. This may also have been the cleanest diner I've ever been. I went to Mary B's for a breakfast meeting. I was going to be here for 2-hrs. Once seated I ordered coffee- that coffee never went below 1/2 a cup all 2 hrs. Also- it's not like they were standing around waiting- they were busy!! My server JAN- had a smile from ear to ear the ENTIRE time I was there. She was even smiling when she turned away from tables heading in another direction- she is the type of employee you want to keep forever! Now- why you're really reading this.... THE FOOD. The coffee was good & hot. The menu is filled with plenty of options- I had trouble deciding. JAN helped! I decided on the Denver omelette with hash browns & sourdough toast cooked on the flattop- which made the toast a 10/10! Please take note- I had to take a bite before I took a picture.... We always have the breakfast buffet and it's never missed the spot. It is absolutely delicious and has anything and everything. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because of the price. We are senior citizens and on a fixed income. The price of the buffet is pretty high for us, but if you look around, everything is pretty much going up in price. But as far as the food and service, it can't be beat. Oh, the hours for the buffet too are great. They keep it open to 1pm which is nice if you have a morning appointment, you still have time to hit the buffet. read more

My husband, my stepdaughter, and myself went to breakfast at Mary B's in the old Shoney's location in Parkersburg, WV on the Saturday before New Year's. My husband ordered an all meats omelet, with home fries, and toast, my stepdaughter ordered French Toast with both strawberry compote, and blueberry compote, and I ordered a couple of scrambled eggs, with bacon, and a blueberry pancake, then my husband and I just shared all of our food. Mary B's has a Saturday breakfast buffet that runs until 2pm, and everything looked really good, but we don't do buffets, so we just ordered a few different things and shared. The place was packed, but service was great. Our server was friendly and professional. Most of our food was hot, except for the pancake. My stepdaughter ordered bacon, and they forgot it, but quickly made it right. The restaurant is clean, parking is off street, free and abundant, service was satisfactory, prices were reasonable, and food was delicious. I think we've found our new breakfast spot when we're in the area! read more

I'm a long time fan of Mary B's Diner on the other side of town. So, I was excited to try this new location out. I was seated nearly immediately after the gaggle of waitresses finished their personal conversations. My waitress was very friendly. I ordered a unsweetened Iced tea, Hot dog with chili, slaw and onions with side of vegetable beef soup with crackers. Very good and definitely recommend read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Horrible service. The menu clearly states you substitute your side for a trip to the salad bar for up-charge of $4.99 So I ordered a hotdog and my side was the salad bar. At the end of the meal I was charged $22.01 for a hotdog and 1 trip to salad bar. When brought to their attention I was told "You ate it and you made 1 trip to salad bar. Yeah." And they shrugged their shoulders. So they charged me for my entree and a whole another soup and salad bar. This was my first and will be my last time here. Garfield Ave. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

My spouse and I stopped by Mary B's for lunch as we were looking for home cooking. We were happy we did. The pork loin sandwich was crispy and tasty. I got the soup beans ( what we call navy bean and ham soup in Georgia) along with green beans and cornbread. Everything we ate was just like grandma's cooking! Our server Zoe was awesome, polite and knowledgeable. We certainly will return on our ninety visit to OH/WV. read more

Came with a local based on reviews and his recommendations. Greeted and seated immediately and hot strong coffee came minutes later andrefilled frequently. I ordered the Big Al breakfast bowl with a biscuit. I was very hungry and couldn't even eat half. Sorry I forgot to take a picture. Loaded with potatoes, ham, sausage, eggs, sausage gravy and cheese. Went to Mary B's on Aug 23rd for the supper buffet. They were not busy at all. Hostess tried to seat us the farthest table away in a corner. Asked for a closer table ans she seated us next to the buffet. All of the supper food had not been put out yet. Waited over 5 min and no server showed up. Female server leaning against the wall and I asked if we could get a server. Finally a male server came out and had the worst attitude ever. We walked out. We have eaten here several times and this was the worst service I have ever encountered. We will not be back. Went to Western Sizzlin of Parkersburg, WV and the service was wonderful and so was the food. read more

I had the breakfast bar this morning. Food was cold. The flyer on the table said the bar was $13.99. I had water to drink. When I received the bill the charge for the breakfast bar was $14.84. when paying the bar I asked the hostess what the 84 cent charge was for. I was told that that is the credit card charge that was added to your bill if you pay with a card. I told her that is considered false advertisement. It needs to be put on the table along with the stand-up card that says the breakfast bar is $13.99. if you're going for the nostalgia of the shoney's breakfast bar. You really need to think of another place to go to have breakfast. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone! They're asking you to leave a star for how I thought the experience was. If I had my way I wouldn't put anything. But I'm made to leave at least one star. read more

Okay, I went here for a gathering and all of us got food poisoning. We were throwing up for days just straight stomach bile. Mary B's brought the breakfast buffet back to life in the old Shoney's building. This town really needed that. The food is always hot and fresh, being rotated and refilled constantly.
