Last night .. we Visited Chop at Canada Place for our two-year anniversary and unfortunately left disappointed. Despite noting our special occasion in the reservation, the service was inconsistent from the start. We waited quite a while before being acknowledged, even as other tables seated after us were served promptly. There were also issues with our meals--our steak portions appeared nearly identical despite ordering different sizes, and the concern wasn't really addressed. While a manager did check in after we raised concerns, by then the experience had already been affected. We appreciated the coupon offered, but it didn't make up for what was meant to be a special evening. Hoping this feedback helps improve future guest experiences. read more

The staff here is epic--management is incredibly helpful and completely on top of everything. The only disappointing part of the experience is the food. It's okay and fairly priced at best (a 3/5 for food, but a 5+/5 for service!). The restaurant sits in a prime tourist location right by the cruise ship terminal and hotels. While the convenience is great, plan for a very standard meal that isn't particularly unique or memorable. My chicken dish was arguably awful, though those in our group who ordered steaks were generally happy. We had a party of 16, and anyone who ordered a non-beef entree was relatively displeased. I'd highly suggest sticking to the beef options. This isn't the first time I've had this type of experience at a Chop steakhouse, so play it safe and order the steak. read more

Man at this point im a regular at chop! I've only been in Canada one week, but I've eaten here 3 times lol Graham on the bar is a great bartender and a dope person, shout out to him. My first experience at chop was a group, party of 5, seated in a beautiful, quiet, corner of the restaurant. We were waited on attentively and kindly. I had the smoked ribeye (5/5) with truffle fries and a ceasar salad. One of my favorite combos executed well. My second encounter was with a totally different staff and daypart, where the guys came in for burgers. We came into Vancouver in the morning and just rested until we finally took a walk around the beautiful downtown seaside area when we finally decided on going to Chop Steakhouse & Bar. This restaurant is so centrally located you can see it from virtually anywhere in the harbor area. There is also a reason why Chop is so busy... the food was great. My wife made reservations on the way over so we were already as our small group walked in. We had a delightful seat outside and were able to watch all going on in the area. Being that the weather was perfect also helped. The team here is wonderful and our waiter came right over to our table, introduced himself, gave us menus and brought us the delicious bread and butter. Our order varied from ribs to a burger to just an onion soup. All served at appropriate time and everything was delicious!!! Some New Yorkers tend to think that no one is up to their level. What a meal. Came here with colleagues and it did not disappoint. For appetizers we all got different things and shared. The chicken wings, were pretty good. Crunchy but still hot a juicy. The steak bites were incredible! Really tender, easy to chew, cooked perfectly medium and paired well with the golden mustard and horseradish aioli dipping sauce. Easily my favorite thing I ate here. I ordered the birria spring rolls since the crab cakes were unavailable. They were just okay for me. Crunchy wrapper but slightly dry beef filling. If it wasn't for the dipping broth it would've been on the dry side. The dipping broth by itself for me was eh, but it made the dish better. I would have liked more of the crema sauce and the spring rolls just felt small. I felt a little robbed by the portion size. Would I order this again? Absolutely not. Taste was a 7/10 but price and portion makes this not worth it for me. For my entree, while everyone ordered steak I ordered the Chop Burger. Soft but strong bun, juicy meat patty, hearty bacon and melty cheesy, toppings were a nice refreshing crunch. I could have done with a little less sauce and I wish the patty was a little bigger but still good enough for me to re-order. Overall, good meal, good service and we had a great time! read more

Love, love, love. We came here for our anniversary, booked the same day in the morning and took one of the last spots available. The service was amazing from the very beginning. We got blessed with Alexandra as a waitress, she saw that our table was wobbly and immediately fixed it. Whenever she came to grab our plates she would clean up the table a little bit so there were no left over feta cheese pieces that fell off the plate or anything. She was so helpful with the food choices and was on top of refills and everything. She made the experience a 100/10. The food was phenomenal. The price is so good for how delicious the food is. We decided to treat ourself to multiple appetizers, entree, sized, drinks, and desserts and everything exceeded our expectations (with exception of one of my drinks). The steaks had a delicious crust and big portions, the lobster was delicious and came with seasoned butter warmed up over a little candle. The desserts were AMAZING. I'm not over exaggerating when I say that it was the best cream brûlée I've ever had. My husband doesn't like crab cakes but we got some and he loved them, they're seasoned so well and just overall perfection. Most places don't have any mocktails, and if they do it's like one option. This place had around 5 which is wild, I had the berry one and it was amazing. I got an agave tonic one as well and it was too bitter for me but that's the only thing I didn't like. The vibe of the place is gorgeous, and once it gets closer to the evening they dim the lights. It's in a great spot that after dinner you can walk out and catch the sunset. Since it was our anniversary we received a free cream brûlée which was very sweet along with a card from the staff. Our dinner here on Friday was disappointing. We ordered two Filet Mignon steaks with seasonal vegetables and a side. When we picked this from the menu we hoped what we received would be as described. It was not. The steak did not have seasoning as described, wasn't seared as described and the seasonal vegetables were not fresh looking at all. We only received a total of 6 pieces of vegetables. Over halfway through dinner we were visited by management. Two different gentlemen. This was such an amazing experience. My husband and I were in town for work from the US, and we brought our 11 week old with us for early dinner reservations. The baby was a tiny bit fussy and we felt so bad- the team here was SO kind and patient...and actually reminded us that being out to dinner is worth enjoying...even with a baby. First time to this Chop location and stopped in for a quick bite to eat after the Auto show at the convention centre. It's a narrow restaurant and isn't that big but still a great venue to look out over the Vancouver sails over the other convention centre. Pretty much all seats can see the view. Food was great, appies were had were the steak bites, escargot and the spring rolls. All good and the beef dip was great. Good friendly service and nice spot to eat down in Coal Harbour. read more

1 star overall for door hostess at entry who sat us at worst imaginable booth table next to kitchen entry exit, when many other booth tables were empty. We had reservation as well. When we asked to be seated elsewhere, she gave us half a booth option elsewhere. Then we pointed to all the empty booths to which she then gave us a great full booth. Utterly unexplainable. Great location by Convention Centre and walking distance to Waterfront station. I especially enjoy their outside seating, looking out to the ocean on those nice weather days in Vancouver. Chop is on my list for chilled ambiance and nice for happy hour when nearby. Steak & frites is a popular item to order from their happy hour menu but I find their fries a bit too salty. The steak is fine tho I usually prefer duck or lamb over steak so it's not my personal first choice. Their menu offerings are decent to satisfy a pescatarian diet if one does not prefer red meat, as one can order tuna, crab cakes, shrimp, crab linguini, lobster Mac & cheese, etc. Overall, I find the seafood quality quite consistent. Each time we order their chili garlic shrimp as a sharable appetizer item, I like to add on an order of the community bread to enjoy the sauce, which I find perfectly flavorful, and not spicy. My own Asian fusion spin on bread dipping instead of the usual choice of garlic butter or balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Service doesn't disappoint, it's not of high energy or boasting of cute smiles as you would find in the younger Yaletown restaurants but they provide courteous service as expected of a nice downtown restaurant in Vancouver. I'd recommend Chop for meet up with out of town guests from nearby hotels or for business chats after Convention Centre events. This location is spacious enough with plenty of inside seating. I appreciate that it's easy drop by to get a table with no prior reservation. Friends also find the outside seating area fun for people watching, being centrally located by popular touristy spots in town. read more

This place has good service and a decent happy hour. Depending on where you sit, you may get waterfront views. It's convenient if attending convention centre events. I don't often review restaurants based solely on a beverage, but Chop Steakhouse and Bar was a great find and happy accident as I was waiting for my ship to board in Vancouver. Trying to pass some time I happened into Chop to grab a pre-cruise drink. Chop is clearly a higher-end steakhouse with a great atmosphere (vibe) which gives it their all to cater to a very diverse customer group. Everyone looked happy and satisfied. The service was prompt and welcoming...the Canada way. I wanted a cocktail that was different, but not sweet and the bartender (Graham) prepared a perfectly balanced, herbal Cherry Blossom Mojito that checked all the boxes. Surprisingly busy during the lunch hour, he still took the the time to prepare a delicious beverage which I might expect with a $70 steak and it was prepared as though I was a high-dollar regular. Good on you Chop and Graham. I can't wait to come back in two weeks and run your steak through the gauntlet. Went to Chop Steakhouse in Vancouver for dinner and honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience. I ordered the ribeye medium, but it came out rare--not even close to what I asked for. I also added a side of shrimp, which ended up being super tough and overcooked. Not great. But the worst part? The mice. We were seated in the outdoor area and I saw at least 6-8 mice running around the booths. It was really off-putting. You can tell the restaurant knows they have a problem--there were rat poison traps all over and visible droppings around. It definitely felt like an infestation. For the price you pay to eat here, you'd expect better food and way better cleanliness. Seeing baby mice crawl around totally killed my appetite. Won't be coming back. Super gross. read more

Amazing and friendly staff! Practically next-door to the Canada place cruise terminal. Wonderful view even comfortable with children. Actually the children's plates were amazing. They had a appetizer a main course and a dessert. My granddaughter loved the salmon came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and the hamburger was a little overdone for my grandson came with french fries. My husband and Son-in-law both truly enjoyed their smoked ribeye! While, my daughter and I loved the seafood linguine. For appetizers we had French onion soup which was awesome- fabulous rich and tasty. The tuna Tataki was good and the steak bites were excellent. And we love the bread. I think we order three servings of that. Our waitress and all the support staff were wonderful with us and the kids making sure we had everything we needed and constantly checked on us. I arrived in Vancouver on May 7 since the next day I was boarding my cruise ship. Needed a place to have dinner and found the Chop Steakhouse and Bar. Since I was early there was no wait and I was seated immediately. I had the roast chicken which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My server was Tianna and she was excellent. She checked back with me to see if there was anything else I needed. She also asked me how my dinner was. What a beautiful hidden gem patio! Interior looks very warm and welcoming too. Chop coal harbour is relatively new, it was my first visit and I can't wait to be back. We did come during a hockey game so perhaps that was on us for coming on a busy night. Meats were cooked perfectly medium rare ( why can't other restaurants, always a hit or miss) The bernaise sauce on the steak oscar took it to the next level. The smoked ribeye had a nicely seared crust with a slight smoky aftertaste, wonderful Seafood dishes again cooked perfectly, moist & flakey, and seasoned well Service staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
