Intimate atmosphere, attentive staff, and delicious food. The octopus salad was fresh. The 20oz bone-in rib steak was well seasoned and enough to be shared between two people. The key lime pie was the perfect way to end the night.

The Social Hour at Gotham from 3-6 pm has to be one of the best deals in Vancouver. The regular lounge menu is 30% off, and you can also order from the dinner menu. We love the lounge ambiance; it's dark and cozy, very old school, but with a modern yet not too loud soundtrack. The featured cocktail of the day was a great concoction of rye that blended caramel and citrus flavors beautifully. We started with the shrimp and scallop ceviche, a balanced combination of flavors served on some of the best guacamole in town. Next up was the portobello fries, a unique preparation of sliced, breaded and fried portobello mushrooms served with a flavored mayo. Delicious crust on these. Most of the plates are for sharing, but one entree-sized plate is the steak sandwich, a way to try their prime meat for less than the dinner cost. I thought the meat was fine, but the highlight was the garlic toast it was served on. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding, a deliciously gooey dessert lightened by some vanilla ice cream. Service by Luke was impeccable. We'll definitely add this to our list of favorite places.

The food and service was on point from start to finish. I ordered the crab cakes, filet mignon, and crème brûlée, and everything hit the spot.

I stopped by Gotham Steakhouse while in town and ordered takeout, just the Manhattan clam chowder this time. The place has a nice, upscale vibe even just walking in to grab food, and the staff was polite and professional. The chowder was okayyyy, nothing too special, but it hit the spot for something quick and warm. I didn't get the full experience this time, so I'll definitely order more food next time I'm in town to really see what they're working with. Looking forward to giving it another try.

Amazing date night place. Went her for our valentine date. Food is great and the servers are amazing. Place is immaculate.

Been here many times over the years for lunch, happy hour and dinner. The three stars is for the latest visit this week, the other times, I would give 4 and 1/2 stars. The service was great as usual. The vibe this time just didn't feel right. I chalk it up to the holiday season but being a higher end establishment, you'd think they would bring their A game at all times. This leads me to the food. I was extremely disappointed this time around and I'm never disappointed when I came here in the past. The best part was the crab cake, great as usual. The prawns were way too over cooked. The prime Rib sliders had extremely over cooked pieces of beef, didn't taste like prime Rib at all. The Keg near by serves way better ones. The mushroom fries were watery, unlike the other times I've had them - I was the most disappointed in this dish as I was really looking forward to having them again. On top of that, the bun on my burger had the top layer ripped off from it! For an establishment such as this, you'd think they would swap it out but they didn't. They just served it as is. AND the ceasar salad didn't taste at all like the ceasar I'm used to eating here. It was bland and not creamy at all, worse than white spot, which pains me to say since I usually love the ceasar salad here.

    Yuzu cocktail with Grey Goose

I love gotham! I always have the great service and food! This time, I had a yuzu cocktail with grey goose with their famous cheese bread and beef carpaccio. I had meshed potatoes, Caesar salad with steak(filet) and lobster. Obviously the waiter de shelled the lobster for me, the server is always amazing. Steak was good, lobster was very tender. Caesar salad was fresh cold and crispy. The waiter remembered me from the last time it was funny. The ambiance is good music, beautiful people, and smells amazing!! I highly recommend for date night, cheerful day(lunch here is good too. Less busy), and celebrating or business meals too!

We came on a Thursday for happy hour. Half of the tables were full when we got here and by the end of our time, the lounge area was completely full. We ordered the cheese toast ($8.25), beef burger ($16.50), oysters ($18.90) and sticky toffee pudding ($16.25). The cheese toast was served nice and hot. Very sinful and delicious. Always a classic at Gothams and Hys. The beef burger came with fries and was not bad. The beef wasn't overly dry. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I would order this again as it was a good deal. Sticky toffee pudding was a bit too sweet for me but the texture was good. Service was really friendly and nice. Food came out fast and I didn't feel rushed during happy hour. Would recommend for happy hour. The menu isn't the biggest but it's good enough to satisfy your cravings

Sometimes you just want a classic steakhouse meal, cooked well, and served nice and smooth. Gotham will give you that experience in spades. We sat upstairs in a plush velvet booth - once sunk into it, we weren't leaving until we'd sampled the desserts (key lime pie! cheesecake! Sticky toffee pudding!). Appetizers were solid, as you might expect - the crab cake was tasty but tiny (see the photographic evidence); the carpaccio was somewhat lacking in flavor, even with the Parmesan crisp accompaniment; the Caesar and the manhattan chowder were serviceable. The steaks were perfectly cooked to order. The creamed corn and broccoli sides were compliments to the saltiness of the steak seasoning. We were very glad we skipped the famed cheesy bread in favor of saving room for dessert. My personal favorite was the Key Lime pie - it was just citrus-y enough to really hit the spot after such a rich meal. Peter Sew was a terrific server and we'd definitely request to be seated in his section again (once the upcoming renovations are done - the restaurant will be closed for most of April 2024).

Hubby and I decided to treat ourselves to a belated Valentine's Day dinner at Gotham Steakhouse & Bar. Boy, was it an experience to remember! As soon as we walked in, you could tell this was the dark wood décor of the sophisticated steakhouses in the city. Crisp white linens, monogrammed cloth napkins and tables big enough and spaced wide enough apart we never felt awkwardly close to our dining neighbours. To note, the trek to the bathroom was an adventure and a half down a very cool spiral staircase. Make sure you build in at least one trip to the washroom as part of your afternoon or evening. We were thrilled with our server, Jamie. He was very personable and friendly, and I am sure he made every table under his care feel unique and special. He gave us an overview of the entire menu, highly recommended the decades old tradition of Cheese Toast, and expertly helped us decide on which steaks to order based on our taste references (more fatty or lean? Cooked more rare or more done?) He also helped us order smaller portions of our sides, so we got to experience a greater variety and made sure were satiated with our portions, without having to bring home leftovers. I can't remember the last time I had such a unique and positive interaction with the staff at a restaurant. We went with the recommended Cheese Toast appetizer. Gooey melted and now hardened cheese, with crisp crunchy. I'm not sure how they made the toast so crunchy with the complement of melted cheese, but I can see why it has been a staple for over six decades. For our dinners, my husband ordered the New York Strip, Chicago Style and I was thrilled when Jamie suggested the Filet for me (I had been eyeing that one already, so points for me for being on the right track). My steak was done to perfection, exactly as I had asked for: medium rare, a hint of pink on the inside. I tried a little bit of my husband's steak and it was cooked very well. A nice crust on the outside, and to his desired level of rare on the inside. I thought my steak was better, only because I gravitate more towards medium or medium rare. All steaks were cooked with simple salt and pepper, and I always have a soft spot for restaurants that cook with simple spices and let the flavour of the actual food be front and centre. We shared smaller portions of Lyonnaise Potatoes, Sautéed Asparagus, and Seasonable Vegetables that turned out to be Sautéed Kale and Bacon. Special props goes towards the Kale and Bacon. My husband acknowledged he never thought Kale could taste this good, and I agreed! A truthful note for potential first time patrons. If you are looking for a place that gives the most bang for your buck, you may be a little disappointed with Gotham. The restaurant separates the entrees from the sides, and the prices of some of the steaks could make your heart skip a beat. However if your idea of bang for your buck includes getting truthful recommendations from the waiter, experiencing steaks you never thought could be so delicious from just salt and pepper, having a top notch dining experience for a very special occasion, and preparing yourself for the prices beforehand, then please keep Gotham on your "to try" list.

We are a group of 4 guys from Da Bronx, NY in town for a convention who wanted a good steak before leaving town. Our Lyft driver Yuri (who we took out to dinner elsewhere) said Gotham was the best around. Tonight we experienced the best meal of our trip. Dark, warm steakhouse, nicely dressed tables. Stephane was the perfect waiter. Jamie another waiter was warm and friendly and sat down for a few as he had lived in NY for a few and knew of Sal's pizza in Mamaroneck, which we all know. Meal was fantastic. Service was top notch. Anyone in town who wants a great steak, this is the place. 4 food snobs from NY

Celebrated my partner's birthday at Gotham and had a great time. Walked in to a dark, New York style steakhouse. Service was amazing, the steaks juicy. Unfortunately they don't disclose the farm the meat is from, but they reverse cook their steaks and they were both cooked a perfect medium rare. I think the rib steak is usually harder to get exactly medium rare as we've visited other highly rated establishments that haven't gotten it exactly right, but Gotham did! We also got the cheese toast which everyone has highly reviewed, but I personally think it's something you can make at home - Texas toast, butter and marble cheese. The sides we got were ok - we got half orders of the lyonnaise potatoes and fried mushrooms but they're nothing out of this world

Food: best way to enjoy Canadian prime steak, the cook on everything is spot on, no flavor spared, nicely portioned and presented, maintain a high level of quality Service: people here are very caring, they not only treat like family, but also provide you with more than you thought you came here for Ambiance: very easy on the eyes, not too bright , nice paintings, almost like a prestigious steakhouse in New York, could be busy at times with children, but overall acceptable level of liveliness

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant".
