Absolutely horrible tree service. They don't care about the life of the tree. They lack customer service and public relations. Of course, they are contracted through Consumers Energy. Do not care about the damage that is done to the tree or people's property. read more

A tree fell on the utility lines so this company came out and cut the tree off dropped the tree in my front yard left a huge mess and left it. It wasn't my tree or my problem but this company made it my problem by dropping the tree in my yard. They blocked the entrance to my driveway so not only couldn't I get in my driveway until I personally moved the tree debris to the side where it still sits month later. They had a trailer and wood chipper with them they could have removed the tree they were either to incompetent or to lazy to do so. I hope these guys change their way of doing business because they won't be in business long doing bad business like this. I will not recommended CHOP to anyone for tree services! read more

Chop has been working by the power lines on our road for months now. We have lost power because of them several times, and they are very inconsiderate on our narrow road. read more

Chop Co. cut down trees at 5960 Michillinda and left a mess. 8 -10 ft logs and debri left for me to deal with. They were so polite initially, and did clean up that was visible, but then left everything else behind a mess. Also did not take down trees as designated, left half trees . I called. Nothing done. I am disappointed. I am stuck with all this mess and cost. read more

The Chop crew cleaning the power lines in Orleans township did a great job on my property. They cut the limbs and trees back from the lines cleaning up all brush, logs and limbs. Very professional and hard working crew. read more

Our entire road looks like a tornado ripped through it. Consumers energy hired them to trim trees that are too close to power lines and everything looks horrible. It looks like they didn't even try to make the trees look nice. If my tree is in the way of a power line but would look very bad if trimmed. Then just take the whole tree down and spare my husband the time and energy to take it down the rest of the way. Very upset read more

Destroyed thousands of dollars of landscaping (not just the trees they were hired to trim/remove), even though we tried to have a conversation with them in person to prevent the damage to our property. We had an awesome experience with CHOP. They were prompt in coming out for a quote, offered what we felt was great advice, and ended up being significantly cheaper than two other tree removal services in the area. They were patient with us as we made our decision as to how many trees to take. We ended up taking 8 or 9 trees, and the work crew did a great job taking down large trees in a challenging area of our yard. They had to be very careful in order to not damage the surrounding houses and the "keeper" trees. They pruned two of our front trees for free, and they followed up to repair part of the lawn that got torn up from the equipment. We were super impressed. read more

Do NOT hire these guys or let them work on your property! These are tree butchers not arborists. Consumer Powers contracted them to trim trees, but they chopped the neighborhood heritage trees to bits. These old trees were here years before these power lines and deserved much better treatment. The crew hacked away indiscriminately. They took no care in how the limbs fell causing damage to landscaping which they then mulched to try to hide the destruction. They left some cut branches hanging on others waiting to fall on unsuspecting people. They intentionally parked on my driveway and overextended their bucket causing the truck to heave onto one outrigger and crack the cement. When I called to express my concern they laughed and said we just had to do that. He asked what they could do and when I said they could start to repair the bushes, fix the hack job, and treat the tree (which looks like it's going to die). He just spouted something about having the right. I said they have the right to trim appropriately but not cause property damage and hack the trees, or to treat me like that... and Zach laughed at me. I asked to speak to a manager and he smugly told me I could not. He laughed at me and said what are you going to do, you have to talk to me. I asked how he would like it to be treated that way and he said that's what they do. I called the office and then Joy laughed and said they didn't do that and accused me of being the problem. Well, let me tell you, that's not how to talk to anyone or de-escalate a bad situation that you caused. It would be appropriate if this comes back around to these people and bites them, so maybe they learn and gain some understanding and treat others with respect and take better care of other's property. Customer service is deplorable. I requested a quote and received a prompt response by email. They arborist forgot to include stump grinding which I had specified. The office directed me to contact the arborist via phone. I did so and he quoted the additional cost (approximate) via phone. So far so good, right? No. So, I added a note to the quote to include the approximate cost of the stump grinding. I got back a terse email stating that they were scheduling out 3-4 weeks* and she seemed irritated because they couldn't schedule until I paid 50%. (*The arborist thought it'd be 2 weeks, but okay - schedule a.s.a.p.) No problem. I replied with my discover card number. I got back another terse email "We don't currently accept Discover." Now, the correct response should have been "I'm sorry. We don't accept Discover but we can do MC or VISA. Will that work for you?" But no, I just got a "We don't accept Discover." At this point I'm getting the feeling they don't want new business, that I'm an irritation or an inconvenience, and I said as much. I asked her to call me and I'd be happy to provide her with the info. Next I get an email from the owner stating that they can't do the work for me. Don't bother asking for a quote. No matter how nice the arborist is, they are horrible to work with. Save yourself the frustration. I'm going back to H.A. Irish. read more
