Last time I'll judge a prospective salon or stylist by the price and take an appointment without researching the stylist's insta/site. I was overdue for a haircut so took the first available, a $135 stylist, so I figured, I'm about to have a great haircut. I showed the reference and she seemed confident she could do a modified version. I indicated the length visually to confirm that the length would about match the picture. I pointed to below my shoulders and she put her fingers 1+" above my shoulders. I corrected, indicating with my fingers visually and saying "Dusting the shoulders," and she still didn't get it. I should've pushed her to clarify with words, because guess what? I ended up with a cut ~2" shorter than I wanted and instead of a modified wolf cut, I got a short version of The Rachel, decidedly not the same haircut. Btw, it's okay if what I was looking for wasn't possible, or she wasn't super experienced in that type of style, but I expect a stylist, especially one charging $135 (even in Summit County) to manage expectations. She also kept on asking me at every stage, even the styling "How do you want it to be dried? Which brush? Which product?" I don't know, you have the reference, you're the stylist, tell me? (I felt put on the spot, like I had to decide--never had a stylist do this--so I just guessed instead of telling her to do whatever she thought was close to the reference.) While I appreciate the intention maybe is to give people who have preferences agency over style choices, it felt like I was being given mental load I didn't want. Also, side bar, she said something that seemed xenophobic during small talk which was awkward. I'm glad so many folks have great experiences here but it was decidedly not for me (or quite a few other people, I see, as well). read more

She gave me a great pixie cut and did EXACTLY what I wanted. Melanie even stopped by several times to see how I was doing. I live in MA and visit Breckenridge frequently. UPDATE****BCB just called and wanted to schedule me for my bridal 2 days after I booked elsewhere, 4 days after they assured me they call me on Monday or Tuesday with a stylist for an appointment I booked in June. 6 days after I was originally contacted by Melanie asking for my CC info so they could take a deposit on an appt they hadn't finished booking on their end. So it took them a grand total of 6 days to find a stylist for an appointment that was incorrectly booked in June. What a way to do business, glad I don't run my business like this. My daughter wanted a new style and she researched all of the salons within 30 minutes of Breckinridge. After checking all the online reviews her first choice was Bethany at at BCB Salon and Spa. Sarah was great scheduling her in. Bethany was absolutely amazing. She asked all the right questions and did a magical job. She gave a great cut, added layers and framed her face perfectly. Best of all we have gone to Disney for the last 25 years and we found out that Bethany's previous job was Ariel at Disney World. She had so many wonderful stories. Great shellac nails! Great service! I went here with a few girls before my wedding. Everywhere was surprisingly booked and they were willing to squeeze us in for some quick manis and gel for me. I usually get shellac but it still ends up chipping or peeling with in a day or two. I was discussing this, and the girls worked their magic!
