Our house is a 1907 four-square. We have wood blinds, windows with deep sills, and a TON of animals. So, to say we were asking a lot when we looked for a deep clean is not an understatement. However, Viktoriya was quick to respond and their overwhelmingly positive reviews were reassuring. $50/hour per hour per cleaner for a total of $110/hr?! Gulp. That's more than I make, and I'm a RN. But hey, you want a professional job, you gotta pay a professional price, right? But...to prevent a budgetary blood bath, I asked that they be strategic and cap the cleaning at 5 hours ($550.) The cleaning team came a couple days later. We had a list of what was most important: dusting! Wipe out the oven, clean on top of the kitchen cabinets (which get greasy despite our best efforts,) and don't worry about the fridge. We specified that we wanted the interior windows cleaned, and when Viktoriya asked if we wanted "tracks," I said "sure." I'm still not sure what that entails... Our home was not terribly dirty to begin with. We spend a significant amount of time cleaning. But a week later, when I look at things more closely, I wonder where they spent their time. The DVD player/cabinet-o-tech stuff doesn't appear to have been cleaned. There's a bunch of dirt/fluff under the couch- I had assumed they'd pull them out and clean underneath them (which I hate doing, hence I hired cleaners...) The night before they came I put the oven through a cleaning cycle, and I know there was ash in the bottom, but they sprayed it with some cleaner and failed to wipe it out (see picture) The blinds weren't dusted. Sigh. I absolutely hate this chore and I was hoping to outsource. The upstairs bathroom was clean. Most of the window sills were sparkling. (But not the window in the stairway.) Viktoriya let me know that there was way too much to do (as we knew) and that they would, kindly, clean the downstairs bathroom for free. Which was sweet. But we rarely use that bathroom, and one of my biggest nemesises is the mold that grows on the grout in there. Alas, it survived their cleaning. Sigh. Had I spent $350-400 for this cleaning, I would be slightly disappointed, but not surprised. Having spent $550 on this cleaning, I'm both disappointed and surprised. I feel like professionals should be able to assess and prioritize for a deep cleaning. When she asked,the same day, I told Viktoriya that they did a "good" job. I am revising my review. They did an "okay" Job. But if you're going to charge a "WOW" price, you should do a "wow" job. read more

I contacted Chosen Bright to do a move-in clean for a large home we recently purchased. The home was left very dirty. Victoria and I discussed the job and she quoted me an estimate for how long the job would take, and the hourly rate of each cleaner. The Chosen Bright team arrived right on time. I was in and out at the house while they were cleaning. Toward the end of the quoted time estimate I was concerned because there were areas of the home that hadn't been cleaned. When I contacted Victoria she let me know that the home was dirtier than expected and they would be unable to do everything in the quoted time. I gave Victoria my square footage and she gave me the rate and how much time she thought it would take. The cleaner she sent is FANTASTIC! She literally cleaned my place from high ceilings to floor! My apartment is sparkling clean. It was a brand-new apartment when I moved in a year ago. This cleaning is even better than when I first moved in. There was some kind of adhesive on the bathroom and living room floor that would not come off. It's not there now!! Same with the shower dam in the bathroom. I reached out to Chosen Bright Cleaning because they had the best reviews and I like to support great small businesses. I was quoted $40/hr for the first deep cleaning which is consistent with what I've paid other housekeeping services in the past. I was also quoted a flat $150 per cleaning fee for bi-weekly maintenance cleaning, which is twice what I've ever paid. I figured maybe they'd spend a lot more time cleaning during each session than my previous service, so I figured I'd give them a shot. The deep cleaning left all my blinds half dusted (see photos) and other dusting was missed. My decor was moved around or piled up and left rather than placed back in its spot. When Viktoria asked how it went, I explained the things that were missed and shared photos. She assured me those things would be fixed in the next cleaning, and to her credit, the next cleaning (a different gal) did a fantastic job, just like my previous housekeepers have done. The next cleaning (same gal) was likewise great. The only issue I have is I was being charged $150 for 2 hours of work. When I brought this up with Viktoria, I was told that the gal is really fast and it's a physical job, and other girls would take 3-4 hours. Here's the problem: 1) I'm a former professional janitor of many years, so I know cleaning 2) I was there during every cleaning and nobody was running around in a frenzy of cleaning, the girls were even taking phone calls (which is fine) 3) My house is ~1,000 s.f. of cleaning, no kids, and we're neat, uncluttered people 4) Every other service I've used also only took 2 hours (as it should) to clean and charged $80 Housekeeping simply is not a $75/hr job. Period. Professionals with college degrees don't make that an hour. My healthcare professional wife makes half that an hour. A housekeeper employee is going to make $15-20/hr max. Where is the extra $60/hr going? The cleaning by the 2nd gal was awesome, but Viktoria wouldn't budge on the unrealistic $75/hr rate.
