I Love this place!!! I've Been there many times before, since I live close. I figured before that I could only afford an occasional treat since it seems very high end. Then my Daughter told me about the raw Dog food she found here and started giving to their 2 big Dogs, how reasonable the prices were, and how much it helped her Dogs. I've started buying it for my Yorkie, and mind you, she's a picky eater yet I was able to return the unused portion. Today, when I went in I was looking for the food my Son recently started giving his dog and couldn't find it. The girl working asked if I needed help. We looked together but couldn't figure out what kind it was. She offered to look it up on the computer with his phone # and found it! She was so helpful and nice. I was smiling on the way out. Secondly, I buy one brand of dog food, two different types same size for years upon years and I'm supposed to be on bag number seven, but I purchased it today and was told this was bag number two, which is a complete lie. My family and I were driving through CO from CA on our way to MA. We stopped by this store and I loved it so much. On our road trip we'd stopped by a lot of stores for cat food, but this one stood out because the employees were so nice and helpful. They had a good variety and selection of foods both wet, dry and raw for cats which always feel rare for the cat section. They had a clearance section with lots of choices at the front of the store and a cute shop kitty near the checkout. Really liked the atmosphere and options available here. My favorite pet store in the GeeJ. Unlike Petco, they don't have an expiration date to the '9 bags of dog food, get the 10th one free!' deal. They keep track of your purchases by taking the IPC code and marking the date on a flash card. Good ol' fashioned mom n pop pet store style. Everyone that works there is very in the know when it comes to what they have and what works well for what kind of dogs. It makes buying a $40 bag of dog food that much easier. They have a wide selection of both dog and cat foods. My dog is a very sensitive eater, and they have a bunch of variety when it comes to 'foo foo' dog foods that isn't just the "Science Diet". As to the building itself, it is really a really fun store. Well laid out, and fun for the dogs to visit due to the treats, smells and toys. read more

Best pet store in GJ! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of any pet item you can imagine. Plus they offer a self-serve pet wash that is clean, with tools and towels provided, and a powerful dryer. The wash was just $10 for 30 minutes of use (it's only $15 for a full hour) and because we were first timers and new to the store our first wash was complimentary! Do note however, they only have one wash station and it's best to call and "reserve" it beforehand. This is a local business worth supporting! read more

We love the staff! We love this store! Chow Down is one of those stores that really gives back to both the customers and the community. Not only are you getting really high quality pet foods for a good price, but their staff is knowledgeable and works with you to find the right food for your pets. The prices for many of their items are comparable, and in some cases less, than the big box stores. We've always felt special and important when we shop here, like old friends. They keep track or your purchases for free bags of food which is really convenient. When they don't have something you need, they are really happy to help order it in for you. Best of all they support our community and pets in need! I appreciate so very much how they offer store space for kitties from local non-profits like CLAWS who need new homes. I'm on my second puppy now and the first time I came in I was greeted by an extremely knowledgeable staff. Chow down is not only a friendly environment but they are one of two stores in town that sell Fromm brand cat food, which is the only food I feed my cat. They provide the cheaper price which makes it even better! I'm in town visiting my parents but am tempted to move back just for this store! They have my dog's favorite toys, snacks, and food and a vast variety of brands. They also have all kinds of outdoor gear, harnesses, etc. The most impressive thing is the antler I just purchased. It's at least 1.5 inches in diameter and 6 inches long. In comparison my home pets store's antlers are either cut in half or have little marrow. My dog is going to the happiest ever when I bring this home! read more

Just went here for the first time this weekend with my pup after seeing a TV commercial. I wanted to support a local pet store instead of the big-brand stores. The employees were really friendly and helpful and sweet to my dog and son. They have a great selection of natural, organic, and local pet products. My dog's food was in stock and even a couple bucks cheaper than Petsmart. Plus they offer buy 12 bags of dog food, get the 13th free. The toys and treats were a little on the expensive side though. My favorite pet store for my puppy Luna. The staff is very knowledgeable and are always so helpful explaining nutrition. They've helped me trouble shoot problems with my puppy's nutrition and they have high standards for good quality foods and treats. Although toys and other products are on the expensive side for me, I always go here for her food and her favorite treats (tendons and lamb ears). I liked Chow Down and their employees. However the groomer is terrible. Cancelled appointments and weeks to get in, only to be cancelled and not overly concerned about clients. Very seldom is Sara there, so I don't know why she couldn't work more to accommodate clients but again, she isn't concerned with clients. My senior dog was treated poorly as she didn't allow him to rest. When asked about this she said all older dogs are that way. Funny at other groomers it wasn't a problem. If Chow Down was smart they would get another groomer to replace Sara, as it has much impacted my decision to patronize this store. In my opinion go to Orval's they are great and cater to your senior dogs needs. read more
