That's how I felt about Harbord Coinwash after the disaster that was my old laundromat. It sounds like a basic concept, washers that work and wash your clothes, and dryers that actually dry your clothes, not to a ton of laundromat in Toronto sadly. They had a variety of different sized laundry machines and front loading machines. Not to mention that the price changes based on the level of soiling and heat of the water, which is much appreciated. A cold wash in a front loading machine? My wallet and Mother Earth thanks you. The dryers are some of the most reasonably priced dryers that actually work. In addition to effective washers and dryers, the owner clearly has put some love into the decor of the place, making me feel comfortable chilling out while waiting for my laundry to dry. This is as opposed to some of the much dirtier, never been cleaned before places around. While this place is a little further from me than many many other laundromat, I think the walk is worth it, not only am I satisfied with everything, I'd rather give my money to someone who appreciates their customers.

This happened with both a dryer and with a washing machine. Two weeks worth of laundry usually takes me two triple loads and an hour of drying (30 minutes on two driers), so around $12 in total. The triple load machines take around 35 minutes (actual time varies a bit from machine to machine). Previous management was good, and the new one is great too (switch seems to have occurred sometime this summer). Laundromat hours are much longer now, there's WiFi (which an employee kindly told me about when he saw I was on my phone), and they play a nice selection of oldies. Also really like that it's run by a friendly and welcoming family.

The place looks like a wreck, I know. There are weird plaster animals in the window and two rickety chairs inside. There is no change machine. A little old man checks in from time to time, carrying a margarine tub of coins, but you can't rely on him being there when you need quarters. The appearance of this place chases most people away, but here's my secret: it's totally fine for getting your clothes clean. You'll never, ever have to wait for a machine. All you have to do is bring your own loonies and quarters and you're all good. Inside is a bit dusty so go have a scoop at The Big Chill, browse at the record shop or lounge at the Starbucks while you wait for your jeans to dry.

During a leisurely stroll along the street a car passed by splashing me with mud and all sorts of gunk. It was soaked into the coat. I went to a few of the hoitie-toitie dry cleaners assuring them, it was worth paying their high prices just to try and get the stains out. They refused to try, because they felt it was not possible. The owner of Priority Cleaners took it. Her husband had it cleaned twice and it came out perfectly - perfectly! They charged less than half the others posted prices. She also did repairs and "reconstruction" ... making it better - more modernized, zesty. She has done a great job. Amazing!
