A good place to eat and run if you are on a tight time break, as their Buffett will save you time and get some food in your belly with no time. The overall experience was a positive one but they can do an upgrade on their item served within the buffet and maybe do a lift up for the exterior and the interior that could bring some light and joy to the customer and staff. read more

I ordered beef and broccoli and chicken frrice, when i get home open the package noticec i got brown rice and beef and broccoli, i called and made a comment and what they told me its funny, they told me that there are stripes of chicken on brown rice, i never asked for brown rice and i ordered 2 different dishes Any way they are not unrest and food doesn't have any taste. How the mighty have fallen. Chows was our "go to" place for take out. The food, while not earth shattering, had flavour and was, usually, well cooked. Was, is the operative. The past couple of orders have been sub-par, to say the least. Pineapple chicken has been tough and the only taste was the cherry sauce. The chicken balls, themselves, were greasy and unappetizing. General Tao? He would be rolling over in his grave. It was so overdone as to not be edible. It was tough, even with a steak knife to facilitate cutting the pieces. The egg rolls were the same, tough as leather and just as appealing. The rice was "meh", bits of chicken but hardly any taste. We ordered chow mein and spare ribs. Chows is a splendid little buffet with a pleasant and warm decor. It has a south sea feel with bamboo dominant theme. I ordered her today for lunch at work, I ordered the general Tao chicken, and asked for it SPICY. I guess that means they just add a packet of hot sauce to your order because the sauce was anything but spicy. On the plus side they use real chicken and nice big chunks. Not like some places that that are a 1/4 chicken and 3/4 batter. The thing that will prevent me from ordering there again is they don't do a General Tao sauce to my liking. read more

What a great experience we just had... NOT! We ordered take out, and I sent my boyfriend in to pick it up while I waited in the car. On the takeout menu there is a coupon that simply says "4 free egg rolls on orders over $50, must be mentioned at the time of order." I was looking at the menu online and don't have a printer at home, but I figured it would be fine since I mentioned it. Nowhere near on the coupon does it say you need to hand them a physical copy. So my boyfriend goes in to get the food and the lady at the counter tries to charge him for the egg rolls since we don't have the coupon. He protests, and she makes several colourful references including calling him an ass, and referring to me as "an idiot" and "the dumb girl on the phone." What wonderful service! I love kitschy Canadian Chinese food but should have turned away when I saw the rundown outside of this place. Went for the lunch buffet. 2 of my chicken balls had bones in the brown/grey meat inside. Fried rice with no veggies or meat, just rice and soy sauce. Strange hot dogs in a sauce. The interior decor feels exotic and original. I love eating Chinese food and I requested the owner to make me an authentic vegetarian meal. He was amazing, he asked me a few questions and customized my meal to my liking (added spiciness, soft tofu and curry). Extra bonus to the whole thing is that they let me stay after hours so I could wait for my ride back home. What I witnessed was a good person who tried really hard to please a customer. Chow's is a special place lol - when you dine in :) The owner is kind of a nut - you'll see. The food itself - if you eat during regular eating hours - be it the buffet or take out - is one of the BEST I have tried in all of Montreal. Prices are Good - BUT ..... after regular hours ..... beware :) Food " appears " to be reheated, reused and overcooked and or mushy. I'm trying to support local restaurants that are opem for delivery during the COVID crisis but I'm taking this place off my list, I've been ordering from there for years and now they've decided to enforce a new minimum, and instead of saying you'll know for next time and letting me order they tried to impose more food on me. Why would I order extra food that'll end up in the garbage, and increase my spending? I'm all for encouraging local businesses, but I'm also on a budget during this crisis... We just ordered Mothers Day take out from Chow's. We expected Chinese cuisine. What we received was 60 dollars of rice and sprouts. The won ton soup was good but rest went into the garbage and was tasteless sludge. read more

My personal go to fast food chinese buffet. $8 for all you can eat lunch special. Good selection. Place is dated and food quality so so. But price can't be beat. Egg rolls are the best I've ever had. General Tao is good, and they even have deep fried spare ribs, which I have not found any where else. Not a place to bring a date! Service is fast and friendly. Located on dorval Ave, adequate parking in the back. Have had take out , but prefer the buffet. Dessert selection is ok , but I don't go for the desserts. Supper is about $12. Good crowd on Sunday's, which is the cheapest day for the lunch buffet. read more

Don't know which was worse, the food or the service. I ordered a "chicken" fried rice, yet there was no chicken, rather pieces of the BONE of the chicken. Worst experience! Have ordered here for years and decided to go in for dinner tonight. The delivery man was coming in from what I assume was a delivery he walked up to the buffet and proceeded to pickup a handful of jello with his bare hands, shove it in his mouth and walk in the back of the restaurant. A few minutes later he came back out and left with more deliveries. The whole event was so casual it only makes me wonder what goes on behind the scenes... needless to say we didn't stay for dessert! As a buffet, this restaurant is great!The price is low and the food is good for the price, but to order, I recommend to go further and get food of better quality. I ordered online and waited for 45 minutes past the delivery time before actually calling back. Their delivery guy didn't even show up until another 20 minutes. By that time, I was hangry (hungry + angry) and I told myself that if the food was at least good, I would be okay with it. The problem is that most of the chicken was bones, their chow mein was the same as the buffet one which would have been great if I paid 5$ for it, but I paid much more!! Ordered general Tsao's chicken and wonton soup to go. I'm from New Hampshire so Chinese food is different but this is the best general tsao's chicken I've ever had. Real chicken perfectly cooked and excellent fried rice. However, the wonton soup was terrible. The noodles were too thin and over cooked. Overall very good food, excellent service. Since the coupon will not print from the on-line offer you cannot get the two free egg rolls. Wow...talk about customer service. Two f'n egg rolls and they cannot give it to you for a $40 order. ordered a dinner for two last night...plus a side main of general tao chicken as they won t let you substitute chinese and shezuan menu items even if you offer to pay a surcharge,,,delivery was quick and food was warm...only positive thing about the meal....egg rolls were supermarket style of lowest quality ..ribs had little meat on them and taste and texture was not enjoyable...the chicken fried rice had little more than flavoring, soy, msg and rice in it,,,now for the general tao...worst ever ...someone forgot to bread n fry,,,all get got was chunks of white meat simmered in a viscous soy based sauce of not quite medium heat,,,evil stuff...we paid 40 bucks for this meal..(36 plus tip)...we ended throwing out 75% of it,,,worst chinese take out ever...it had been a few yrs since we had ordered there,,,they used to be quite good back in the day but something bad has happened to this old school restaurant...avoid take out at all cost,,maybe buffet is better value but i will not waste my time to find out..one burn is enough, read more
