AFTER READING SO MANY POSITIVE REVIEWS FOR CHRIS HANSON I DECIDED I MUST SEE WHAT THE HOOPLA IS ABOUT. I am a skeptic about most hair stylists after many disastrous hair cuts and colors but decided to be brave one more time and check this stylist out. I arrived on time to my appt and was pleasantly greeted by the staff at Foxy, then by Chris. I immediately felt comfortable with her as she was friendly and not at all egotistical as many are. Chris asked questions to make sure she was understanding my desires, which made me feel she really cared about what I wanted. Once she went to work I experienced a wonderful shampoo massage, and I felt like I was the only person in the shop. I had her complete attention, no "double booking" and she even cut off people who started talking to her, making me feel as if I had her undivided attention. As she was drying my hair she explained how I could accomplish the same results at home, but did not try to sell products. In fact, once she even recommended a shampoo that is available in all stores, not just the beauty supply stores. When she was finished my hair looked better than it had in years. My mom and I feel very lucky to have found Chris. She is not just talented in her field, but also very patient, able to listen to her clients and willing to give feedback. She seems to enjoy what she does and does it with passion. She is very compassionate to those patients that are in need of a wig due to cancer treatment. She goes beyond the haircut and will help you find the right wig for your face and hair color and style, she will help you order the wig, and give the final shape so it looks as natural as possible on you. She also cut my hair and was the nicest haircut I have had in the last 9 years. Chris just moved to Livermore. Although we are about 45 minutes away from her new place; we just didn't mind the drive. I think Chris can easily charge more for her services, but she is very reasonable priced. She is great at getting back to you either by phone or email. My mom and I think that Chris is very professional, with keen eyes, and hand skills for your look! I am a very picky person and I don't regret the trip to her place. Chris is honest and her work is exceptional. She really takes the time to create beautiful color and a perfect cut. As evidence, check out her own hair - she colors and cuts it herself! She first began as a barber then later became a beautician, so she really understands hair cutting angles for both men and women. Her prices are not inflated. If your cut, color or style isn't quite what you had imagined, she will adjust it without an attitude and without additional charge. She does not push products. If you like a product (or styling tool) that she uses and you would like to purchase it, she will find it for you. I don't normally like chatting with hairsylists, but I find myself completely at ease with Chris. Her clientele continue to increase in number not because of a sleek, contemporary salon with a coffee bar and a trickling fountain - but because her personality, concern and abilities are unforgettable. read more

Can't think of anything bad to say, Christine was friendly, looked like she wanted to do my hair, not like she was there for the money, and when I left my hair looked great! This is not a luxurious salon, but you don't pay the prices upscale salons charge and the work is just as good if not better. In fact it is not a salon at all, Christine is the only hair stylist in a nail shop. I personally liked the informal atmosphere. Christine is sensitive to talking when I want to, or just resting and reading as she performs magic on my hair. There is no attitude, just good old fashioned service with a smile. One more point, Christine looks great, too many hairstylist look so bad they scare me out of the chair. Seeing a stylist that has good taste makes me feel more secure sitting in the chair. She is a hair color specialist and I love her cuts as well. She is also a star at helping you get your hair back into condition without resorting to cutting it off if some other stylist has damaged it with coloring products and processes. I respect her. She is very professional and businesslike...she stays on task and on schedule, so arrive early if you can. She knows her stuff and you will be the beneficiary of her highly technical expertise and dead-on accuracy as she selects the cut, color and products for you (she uses top products but does not stock products so she is is never is a position of 'pushing' products she has on hand). Her prices are great because she keeps her overhead low and doesn't take herself too seriously as those less talented often do. read more

Last week Chris did my hair for a special occasion. I will admit that I was fearful, but I was immediately comfortable that Chris had my interest at heart. After I explained whart I wanted she was honest and explained that my hair just would not do the requested style but she could do a similar style. I must say I was impressed when she brought out a hair piece that she used to thicken my own skimpy locks. Chris is all about solving hair problems and has the experience to know what works and what does not work. When she was finished I was amazed that my hair looked better than ever before. (OK, it was not all my own hair) No one could tell that my skimpy locks had help to look so good. She is a 10+ in my book. read more

Two years ago I found Chris and my hair has never looked so good. When I started I had hair that was frizzy, breaking, and the color? As bad as it gets! It was sort of a greenish blond that my former hair dresser kept telling me was natural for my skin tones. Today my hair is healthy again, a more balanced blond tone, and my cut is easy to care for and looks like it could be in one of those hairdo magazines. It took time, but I learned to stay out of "chop shops" and plan ahead for my hair care. I agree Chris is a fine stylist, but what really makes her special is her unpretentious personality. It seems that hair care professionals in general either have no concept of good service or they act as if they are all hollywood designers. I don't want to be treated as if I don't exist. I don't want to be a color. I want to be treated as an equal participant in the relationship I have with my hair stylist. If I have concerns I want them to be addressed in a professional manor, not like I am trying to get something for nothing. Chris has always fullfilled my expectations. Having hair loss is devastating and their are so many business that are so money hungry. I bought a 6,000 dollar wig from a company in LA. That company and many other places were charging me over 200 dollars to dye it a few shades darker. I'm so grateful for meting Chris! She charges me third of that and does quality work! I also appreciate that she truly cares about me and how I am doing. She goes above and beyond. A plus is she has her own salon in her house which keeps everything private. I have hated my hair for as long as I can remember. I made an appointment with Chris for a trim and consultation, and today I have hair that I really LOVE!. Chris admitted that the trim wasn't much improvement but she did explain that extensions could give me the hair I wanted without the hefty price so many charge. She does not really recommend them for extreme lengthening, but to make wimpy hair look fuller. As proof she wears them in her own hair and it looks great. I met Chris through our mutual interest in horses. I liked her imediately so deided to try her for my unruly hair. WOW!! Did she do a job! My usual dismay after seeing the result of many hair dressers completely dissappeared when she actually "fit" all my hair into a short, sleek bob style. So many had tried before but each time I came out with a mushroom instead of a bob. I don't know where all my hair went but now I can style it easily and it looks great all day! OK, so I don't usually like to recommend two people from the same establishment, but I have watched as this stylist has worked magic on customers that were obviously difficult. She is a specialist in helping people who have lost hair find ways to address the problem. Her extensions blend perfectly, and yesterday I watched as she placed a hairpiece on a woman who had very little hair on top. You could tell how excited Chris was that the piece looked so realistic on the customer! The customer herself was obviously delighted, and everyone was amazed at the outcome. read more

My only regret is that there is only one Chris and she stays busy! I watched her complete several customers as I had my pedicure and was so impressed at her professional attitude and careful execution of the job at hand. I actually am a retired hair dresser and rarely see someone with this level of talent in our profession. When my appointment time came Chris was on time, had cleaned her station and sink after the previous customer, and ready to give her complete attention to my color and cut. I made an appt. with Chris for last Wednesday. When I arrived she greeted me and made me feel comfortable from the start. I explained that my hair is very important to me and I could see that she understood. She did not try to talk me into cutting more than I wanted, and she did teach me several new ways to make my hair shine and look thicker. I did have a glossing treatment and it has made the hair look much better. I am happy this hair person took time to listen and create my vision of beautiful hair. I do recommend her. read more

It is becoming more and more difficult to find good hair dressers that aren't over-priced, but Chris is as good as they get. Her skills include color, extensions, wigs, just about anything one might want for their hair. AND she is great at everything! My hair is very difficult to color as it is very resistant to dyes. Chris is the only one that has been successful, I don't know what she does but my gray is finally covered! And the cut works well for me at home. Chris IS the best hair stylist I have found in many years! She actually listens, and works to create the look I want rather that the look of the day. No chatting with the other stylists, talking endlessly about herself, trying to impress me about how good she is. This is the real person trying to make me look good. Chris is the first person I have felt strongly enough about to write a review for. i found her on the yelp site and am really happy I did call her. Chris really looked at my hair as an individual, not just another cut. She asked relevant questions, suggested appropriate products, and styling techniques, and did not charge an arm and a leg! Chris is with out doubt the best hair dresser I have ever been to. I went to her with very damaged hair from over coloring and a previous butchered hair cut done by someone else. She worked her magic and I left her salon with an awesome hair cut and a color that took years off my face :) One could'nt ask for more than that !
