When i said that i requested dreads and not twists she became angry and told me that she had blocked 6 hours of clients for my appt and that twists were exactly the same as dreadlocs. I disagreed and we rescheduled. At second appt she showed me actual dreadloc ext and i was thrilled. About 30 min in i asked for a mirror. When i looked at my right side which she said was "done" there were only 5 dreads. Each ext was coming out of a hexagon with 3" sides ! It looked ridiculous ! I found out that she had only ordered 40 ext even though she told me at consult that the $650 price was due to the fact that my hair was so thick it would require 100. She only ordered 40. I asked her to take them out. She never offered to do it again after ordering more dreads. She never offered to combine the dreads with something else. As i was leaving she said she would issue a refund the next day. The following day i received a zelle payment of $150 ! Both appt fails we through no fault of my own ! Both appt fails were the direct result of her actions. She kept $500 of my payment without even discussing it with ne and now refuses to answer my calls or text messages. Very unprofessional. Borderline criminal actions that cost a single mother of a special needs child $500. I strongly do not recommend.

When she finally called, they admitted it had never been ordered, offering multiple conflicting excuses. They rushed to get a topper in within days--but it was not what she ordered. Still, they insisted it was correct and pressured her to take it, claiming there wasn't time to get another. That makes no sense, considering how fast the one they claimed to have ordered for her had arrived. It felt like they were just trying to push old inventory on her to get rid of her. The topper was clearly wrong. I called about returning it and was told they would accept it back with a $200 fee, which was upsetting considering the circumstances, but my mom is ill and didn't want to fight them. When I showed up in person to do the return, the owner suddenly changed her story--no return allowed, only an exchange, still with a whopping $200 penalty. This was manipulative and completely unethical. Preying on vulnerable seniors is disgusting. Avoid this place at all costs. *In response to owner: I should not have had to accompany my mother to protect her from being pressured into taking something home that didn't work. She was given two bad options and tried to pick from that because she was told they couldn't get anything else and they refused to do any kind of return (even though it was unused and unworn and had just come in). Now I'm thrilled to visit him in his new beautiful space in the Palatine Building. If you already know his talent with hair, you can skip the rest of my review--but if you haven't sat in his chair before, let me offer my perspective. Saul is a confident stylist who really knows color, hair design, fresh style, all the tools, etc. From the minute I sit down in his chair, I know he understands me. Saul listens first in his quiet, humble way. He sees the finished look in his mind and then achieves it right on. My hair always receives raves whenever Saul does it. I have sat with stylists in the past that timidly approach my hair. They seem afraid of using their own scissors sometimes. Not Saul! He is bold. He is unafraid to make big changes if that's what you want--but also skilled to make even the slightest change make a big impact. My natural color is auburn red, but there have been times that I've asked to go brighter in red color. Saul has done highlights, lowlights, multi colors--he's accomplished anything with my hair I've ever asked him for. And ALWAYS with his own self-assured touch. Saul runs his salon with a team that he hand selects based on his and his clients' needs. His new salon is designed beautifully with open space and tranquil color. You can see the contemporary look in the pics that I uploaded--what you can't see is the warm welcome by the professionals who work with Saul. One thing that has not changed? I had a few bad experiences with non black hair stylist doing my hair. So for the last 20+years I only let black stylist do my hair. Yesterday I googled black hair salons. Even though they do advertise they are specialized in textured hair, you will read later that they are PRO'S at any hair texture. I called the salon. I spoke to Dawn, and I told her I had a few huge knots (like dreadlocks) and might have to cut them out after working on them the night before for 2 hours, and one one was beyond repair "so it seemed". Dawn gave me the break down of what she could try, so I went in. Her confidence and display of pure determination, made me say even if she wasn't a woman of color I was going to give her a shot. She took her time not to hurt me as much as she could. Obviously with these type of tangles it has to hurt a little, but for the most part it wasn't that bad. She kept checking in with me. So very sweet and determined not to have to cut them out, after I told her after the 2nd hour if she has to cut them out she could. I really thought that in the end my hair would not be salvageable. Wow was I wrong! She had put my hair in the wash bowel and applied the moisturize back into my hair. I had used Cantu Co Wash and another product, Shea Moisture that literally stripped the hair of any nutrients and the Shea Moisture left it with a wax/glue like feel that literally made the matted parts like a birds nest "4 hours later" sponge bomb tone lmao, my hair was totally untangled and she had also put some more products in my hair and put me under the hair dryer, with a plastic cap. The heat and products gave my hair life again. She and her husband Ron are 2 of the most nicest and genuinely cared about me and refused to let me cut my hair off. I started to tear up from happiness, the night before I was so distraught of the thought of losing my hair. I will be coming back in 2 weeks for Ron to address my grays, and have Dawn give me a facial and do my eyebrows. Yes she does all that too! Dawn you saved my life yesterday!
