We went to celebrate my birthday. We had delicious food, yummy cocktails, and a charming waiter. It was our typical Chris McD's experience. What happened after we left went above and beyond what one expects at Chris McD's. When I arrived home I discovered the center diamond had fallen out of a cherished ring. My husband suggested we call the restaurant and ask if they had found it "just in case". Can you imagine my surprise when Eden called to tell me all staff had looked throughout the restaurant, even checking the trash, and FOUND IT! The diamond is a decent size and anyone could have easily pocketed it. They could have said they looked and didn't. The staff and management went above and beyond on a busy Friday night to take care of this customer. THANK YOU. read more

We love Chris McD's. We always sit at the bar area but the service is amazing everywhere in the place. It's a flame grilled steak and will forget about going to CiCi City Broiler ever again. Chris McD's has the most Flavorful food. We have never had anything we didn't love . The salad is also the best salad in town and they also have super reasonable prices for this type of restaurant $43 for the ribeye meal $29 for the salmon meal. $7 for half salads. This is one of the best steakhouses I have ever eaten at everyone I take there says the same. It's just the best. I only found the place because I met a couple in an elevator that were ecstatically happy and celebrating. What a great stake they just had so after my pleasant experience, I did the same. Came here for a friend's birthday. We had a group of about 12, and seating was fine ( we did RSVP). The ambiance is okay. It could be better for the price range.. The staff was very friendly. Chris McD's is one of my favorite places, hands down. They have one of the best lemon drop martinis in Columbia (alongside Jina Yoo's), their food is always hot and delicious (I suggest any of their steaks or lobster) and I've never had a visit short of fantastic service. This place is classy without being black tie per se, and I would personally choose Chris McD's over CC's for the cost and experience, any day. read more

Inside the ambiance is very nice, candles on the tables and walls with a water feature. Our waiter was very attentive, although, crushing hard on my husband the whole time. Lol. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine that was decantered at our table. The crab cakes were ok, not great. We both ordered filets, mine had a delicious Gorgonzola sauce with shrimp and his came with a lobster tail. Both steaks and the lobster were cooked to perfection! All cuts of their steak are prime except the ribeye. Very flavorful! Coming from KC we know a good steak when we have one and these easily compared to our finest KC steakhouses. AMAZING!! This was a great find in Columbia! The service was impeccable! The manager was incredibly helpful getting my group of 7 in for dinner. Chef's special Wagyu steak was unbelievable! We also had the lobster risotto and two other steak dinners. All were amazing! Desert was truly the icing on the cake! Crème Brûlée... OMG! WOW! We love this place. One of the best restaurants in Columbia! The steak was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Service was amazing. The price is reasonable for what you get. - Ribeye with truffle fries, broccolini (5/5): I love ribeye, and this was so good. Medium rare, so juicy. And the truffle fries were crispy and a great pairing - Kansas City strip with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini (4.5/5): also delicious, very flavorful. We have enjoyed Chris McD's for 30 years. Tonight was the exception. we were seated out on the back patio, ordered drinks and an appetizer. App came before we had plates or silverware. we ordered a second round with our main course order. two glasses of wine and a martini. food arrived, no drinks. we finished dinner, and finally our server (Avery) explained that a bartender had cut themselves and had to go home. she offered to comp the drinks we hadn't recieved. wow. thanks. . when we left, there were 4 people behind the bar. surely enough to pour 2 glasses of wine and make a martini in less than 40 minutes. This restaurant has been here forever, but won't last with this level of service. read more

Just ate at Chris Mc D's in Columbia, MO 6/7/2025. While our server was very pleasant, I will not be returning to this restaurant. While we and other diners were still dining, we watched another one of the workers sweeping the floor then place the dirty dust pan used to collect the dirt from the floor onto the dining tables that guests eat on. What's worse is the manager came over and made an excuse for it saying they do a deep clean every Saturday. I'm in utter shock. read more

Very good food in an unassuming strip mall location. Our party ordered the smoked chicken wings and the shrimp and crab dip to start. My daughter had the 12-ounce ribeye, which came with a mound of truffle fries and broccolini. Husband ordered the KC strip steak, accompanied by garlic mashers and crispy onions. I ordered the seafood pasta and a peach berry sangria. All delicious. Our server cheerfully packed up our ample leftovers and brought us a dessert tray to peruse, and we left with carrot cake to go. I didn't get a bite, but it looked perfect. Service is attentive. The wait for food is on the longer side but worth it. As always, amazing experience. Do not let the location in a strip mall setting discourage you from trying if you've never been. Seating, the bar area and getting to tables is a little tight and it can be a little noisy, but all of those minor inconveniences fall to the wayside once you experience the wonderful staff and culinary delights. I often have a steak dish, but the seafood and pasta options are also worthy. Out of numerous visits the only con was a slightly undercooked steak. SLIGHTLY! Fancy upscale dinning spot in Columbia. We made reservations which I would recommend. This spot is known for its steaks and seafood. I opted for the amish chicken due a friend having seafood allergies. The waiter give this a thumbs up choice. For me the chicken needed some seasoning but the reduced sauce was good. No complaints on the rosemary potatoes or asparagus which came as sides with the meal. If you want an appetizer and have no restrictions get the spinach salad!! Man that stuff is good. Its a warm salad with spinach, nuts bacon , granny smith apple slices and reduced in a sauce. Yum yum yum. Top it all off with a lemon drop martini and the carrot cake. The moisture level on the carrot cake is unbelievable. One of the best carrot cakes I have had. Just Moist, the cream cheese dressing wasn't to sweet but light and tasty. Its was a mouth explosion with the carrot cake!! I also recommend truffle fries. read more

Very average. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time at 5:30pm. We were a part of three and jammed into an undesirable table, squashed up against a booth on our right and another table setting on our left. Both remained empty until we left at 10 minutes to 7. The restaurant was mostly empty. I never understand hosts that insist on seating parties at crappy tables in a mostly empty restaurant. The waitstaff was friendly, but the long-winded descriptions of the specials were way over the top. Blah blah. It sounded like a panel on a Food Network cooking show...the panko together with the soft texture of the sea bass creates an incredible mouth feel...whatever! Seriously, this is not a Michelin rated joint. Get over yourselves. The food took forever to arrive. By forever, I mean one hour. The entrees were Amish Chicken, rib-eye and lamb chops. After waiting for nearly forty minutes the waiter came by to apologize for the delay, which was apparently due to the Amish chicken, which "takes a long time to prepare." Why not include that piece of vital information on the menu? Odd. When the food finally came, we felt it was average. Not bad, but definitely nothing great for the cost. The ribeye was a joke when compared against a CCs Gary Steak. Not even in the same universe. While it was cooked correctly, it wasn't nearly as flavorful. read more

Absolutely not. It's been 6 hours since I had a "ribeye" that was one of the toughest steaks I've ever eaten. I had maybe 6 bites and couldn't chew it. After settling the bill which was $48 with tip, and only included the steak with broccoli and French fries (gross), I went across the street to CC's and had a delicious salad, bread, baked potato and steak for $35. Don't waste your time at Chris McD...I'd rather eat at McDonald's. read more

This place is an unexpected treat. It's tucked away in a strip mall in middle America, but provided a delicious meal and wonderful service. For cocktails I had a dirty martini and my wife had an old fashioned. Both were great! We switched to wine at dinner, and they have a beautiful selection and nightly specials. For entrees, I went with the filet and the shrimp/asparagus/Gorgonzola cream sauce that came with it was AMAZING. I could have licked the plate clean. Wife had a special that consisted of a crab stuffed salmon. I have NEVER seen her clean her plate until this meal. She truly felt that it was one of the best dishes she has ever tasted. This is our favorite American restaurant in Columbia MO. Ambiance: great place to take a date. Upscale on the inside but not stuffy. Nice booths in the dining room and great bar area. The bar area also has tables Service: from the moment you walk in the door til you finish your meal the service is absolutely fabulous Lamb chops: absolutely my favorite dish here. We ordered 2 to try medium rare vs medium and both came out similar. Both very good and very tender. It's served with blue cheese which I am not a huge fan of so when I remember I ask for it to be placed on the side because my husband enjoys it. Shrimp cocktail: the shrimp is colossal size. You get 4 and it's served with cocktail sauce. We also ordered 2 of these because they are really that good. Lobster risotto: the risotto had a perfect consistency although a bit on the salty side. The lobster was a bit undercooked but it did not impact the taste or tenderness of the lobster Creme brûlée: not a favorite of mine bc I generally don't like this dessert but my husband thought it was good Banana fosters bake: very tasty. We had reservations Jan 6, 6pm. The entire place was packed. We ended up shoved in the back corner with a huge table of people right in front of us. When my husband asked for a table, he was told, those people have reservations. He said we do also. She turned around and left. Easily the best food I've ever had in my life. Atmosphere: The outside looks very unassuming but once you're inside, you realize how upscale and romantic everything is. From the bar to the dining area, it's gorgeous with warm-lighting -- the kind of place you'll beg to go for anniversaries. Food: The best, all the way the best. Perfectly cooked steaks, incredible seafood dip, amazing options all over the menu -- it was so hard to pick. If I could eat here every day, I would. A good friend told me about Chris Mc D's happy hour. At first I thought she was exaggerating, but then I realized she wasn't. We had lobster tail, mushroom risotto and asparagus for half price. I LOVE lobster and though I wish it had been boiled, ir was quite delicious. The risotto was out of this world with the earthy mushrooms and fragrant wine in the sauce. I'm okay with asparagus and these were the best. Now, you're thinking I am exaggerating! You'll need to try it yourself. My husband's bayou shrimp were the largest I have seen in mid-MO. I was expecting small bites of typical bar food but was pleasantly surprised and very impressed with not only the amount of food I was given but the variety of appetizers and quality of the food.
