I have never had a bad dish, let alone a bad meal. We've always gotten excellent service and I would offer it my very highest recommendation. We enjoy this place. Historically we always make a reservation because it's hard to get in if you don't. Service is always friendly enough. Maybe not the most attentive. This was our first time eating at Endwell. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and I had heard Endwell was a good place. They have a variety of gluten free options and have gluten free pasta available. There are no gluten free desserts though. The atmosphere was nice when we first got there, but they got busy and it became extremely loud. We did not know that we needed a reservation but luckily we were able to be seated since we got there early enough. The hostess did tell us that we would only be able to stay for around an hour because they needed the table for a reservation. The service was slow in the beginning, even though they were not busy when we first got there, so we were concerned that they were going to tell us we would have to leave before we were done eating. Luckily, that did not happen. The food was great but the service could have been better. Overall, we were pleased with Endwell. I have a gluten allergy but my husband does not. We had the wings, I had the Eggplant Lasagna, and my husband had the Endwell Hot Chicken (not GF). The service is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. read more

This is....not it. This is the second time I've ever been (the first time for a corporate event so I didn't even see the prices). Last night we got carry out. We ordered Chicken Riggies and the Sausage Pizza. Let's start with the riggies. First of all, the portion size is absurd. This tiny container was $20. Yes, you read that right. $20. Before tax and tip. And the flavor was a miss, the sauce was thin, the chicken was..not great. This dish is NOT authentic. My partner has lived in upstate New York (where this dish originated) and was so excited to try this, and it was sooooooo disappointing. Then, the pizza. The flavor was actually really good. However, everything but the crust was completely soggy (I'm talking the cardboard box underneath was almost black). We couldn't even lift a slice out of the box without needing something to help get it out or the toppings would just slide right off. The drive home only took 10 minutes and we ate right away. Everything was over the top from beginning to end. We were early and surprised our taste buds by some complimentary fried chickpeas since it was before 5pm, due to a scheduled concert at 7pm. We shared a salad which worked well and opened our taste buds to our choices of what turned out to be "pasta treats" we both had. They do not brag about it but all the pastas are either made by them or another local maker of fine pastas (Pasta la Fata) Our server was superb and took exceptional care to see that everything was well timed and satisfactory or above. This might have been easy, since we were the first customers, but within 30 minutes the place was busy and satisfied smiles and comments filled the air. What is odd is that we went there primarily to see the renovation and finishes to the place by a good friend of my son and found it to be perfect for the setting. The food was more than fitting as the basis for his attention to detail. Next time you're in town for a seminar, game, match, court case or on your way between Missouri's two largest cities, stop to eat at the best city in the state - Columbia. I was told I could, but more than likely would not be accommodated because the restaurant had a small dinning room and the restaurant did what they need to maximize the seating. Alex brought the hubby a couple of beers to try. The very good pilsner from New Zealand, only had enough for 2/3 glass (which Alex gifted to a happy husband) then he had the also great brown ale from Civil Life. Chose two pizzas, their sausage and the margarita. That fermented sourdough crust is for the gods!! The bubble crust with the charred bits can hold it's own with a little fold, perfect. What a sweet first experience at one of Columbia's newest spots in town! Given the newness, the wait time was about an hour & a half, so be prepared to nab a drink or snack at another location while you wait (their bar is packed too!). The restaurant itself was small, and sound multiplies here! All of these 'cautions' I assume will subside after the initial high wears off. Outside of these things... Wish I had more photos, but again it was packed, so couldn't. But the interior is BEAUTIFUL! Looks beautiful refurbished, clean, and fitting to the old Italian theme. We were seated at a 'family style' table , which at first was jarring when you're on a date and another couple is directly next to you at the table. But- it ended well, pun intended ;). We were able to swap recommendations and learn about others in our community. Our waitress was also so kind and attentive to us, wish I caught her name! As for the food - hard to rate Italian spots when we've been to Italy , but Endwell was by far the best in town. We got the Antipasti board, which was delicious! Was pleasantly surprised with the portion size here. The cacio e Pepe is one of my favs, and I certainly was not disappointed. Thought about it for days after. Burrata appetizer was amazing, the bread was crispy and sesame flavor paired well with the cheese, honey and prosciutto. Cavatelli seemed handmade and texture was perfect, though the dish itself was a little bland. The eggplant rollatini seemed a little burnt and was just ok. A friend and I visited the evening of Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. She put in our names before 6 p.m., and we were quoted a wait of about an hour, which we spent exploring nearby art galleries and shops. The restaurant texted when ready to seat us. We were shown to a communal table next to a party of four, but we didn't mind because it allowed us to spy on their menu choices and plot our orders. To start, we ordered fried chickpeas seasoned with salt and smoked paprika and a burrata appetizer with a panzanella that included fresh tomato, corn, and arugula. The chickpeas were a moreish salty nibble, and the creamy burrata pleased the table. Our server was attentive and kept the meal moving smoothly. For mains, we ordered the mushroom pizza (featuring fontina, balsamic onions, pecorino, and mint) and a fusili dressed with mushrooms, broccolini, onions, ricotta, and parmesan. All was delicious, and we didn't have room for dessert, despite the tempting tiramisu and pistachio-encrusted cannoli we spotted nearby. Next time.
