Dr. Miller and the entire staff are simply terrific! He was referred by my GP (Dr. Brad Gates) and it was one of the best decisions I've made to make an appointment. Dr. Miller has a very easy going and gentle personality..., which is intangibly important to me and my wife! My initial reason for seeing him was due to my left shoulder causing me pain. Ironically, I had a skiing accident that resulted in a tear of my MCL just prior to seeing Dr. Miller initially. After an MRI, he treated the MCL tear and shoulder pain with PT initially and didn't rush me into making a surgical decision. In addition, he gave me a cortisone shot for the shoulder which released the pain. The MCL healed nicely without any further procedure being required; however after 6 months the shoulder did get worse due to a separate but freak accident, so we decided that surgery was the only option that would relieve the pain permanently. This was the best decision, because the arthroscopic procedure revealed a massive tear of the supraspinatus which required 6 anchors instead of the normal 4 to reattach it properly. The entire experience has been outstanding and thankfully, the pain has been minimal. You can probably tell I really think the world of Dr. Miller and would recommend him to anyone who needs orthopedic care mostly because of his extensive experience and thorough approach. read more

I saw Dr. Miller for knee pain following an injury - my previous ortho doctor was out-of-network with new insurance. I was able to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time and he quickly ordered the necessary tests to diagnose the injury. The surgery to repair my torn meniscus was quick and complication-free and gave immediate relief from the pain. I would absolutely recommend him and would see him again if needed. read more

I had very successful hip replacement surgery about 7 years ago. At the time I gave Dr. Miller a glowing review. Comparing Dr. Miller's follow-up to the follow-up my husband receives from his surgeon there is a glaring gap. I saw Dr. Miller for my 6 weeks check-up after each replacement and haven't seen him since. My husband has an annual check-up visit. Something is wrong with my right hip but I won't go back to Dr. Miller. Probably could have been caught if I had an annual check-up. Just want to warn others if you are looking for follow through, maybe Dr. Miller is not for you read more

If I could give Dr. Miller 10 stars, I would! He is amazing!! His staff is super friendly, as well. My husband had his first hip replacement surgery Tuesday and is feeling great!! He was walking 2 hours after surgery, which was a painful effort before the replacement. The nurse in the hospital, as well as the physical therapist and home care have all said he's doing amazing. It is all thanks to Dr. Miller. He had been in tremendous pain for months, and he even had to start working from home. He has his second hip replacement on the 28th and is actually looking forward to it. Thank you Dr. Miller for giving me my husband back. Dr. Miller fractured my medial condyle (of femur) while doing a partial knee replacement. He told us he had to put two screws in the side of my knee. When I asked him what caused the fracture, his reply was, "osteopenia". About two weeks later, I asked for the report & found out HE had fractured my bone. When I asked his staff, I was told, "That is correct." There are too many issues to list here. I would definitely NOT recommend him. read more

If you are looking at knee replacement, go to Dr. Miller. You will not regret it. He listens to you closely and let's you make decisions without pushing you one way or the other. A 6 1/2 hour stay beats a 3 day hospital stay hands down. No catheter, and near immediate mobility are wonderful. The team is friendly, efficient, and professional. I had everything I needed at home days before going into surgery. They answered my questions and politely laughed at my lame jokes like they had never heard them before. Dr. Miller and his staff are first class. I started seeing him over a year ago. I am an avid golfer and over the years I had done extensive damage to my right shoulder. After making due with cortisone shots, I grudgingly gave in to an MRI which showed a fully torn rotator cuff and a torn bicep. We decided on a date and Dr. Miller performed the surgery in February. After an initial 30 days of immobilization, I am a month into PT and the movement and flexibility is surprisingly far along considering the extent of the injury and operation. I couldn't be happier with the results so far. I come from a medical family so I'm generally pretty rough on docs. I had bilateral knee replacements on April 16th and am now two weeks out. I'm already walking without assistance and am diligently doing my PT - I was so fearful of surgery, but Dr. Miller is amazing. My experience thus far has been fantastic and every PT or medical assistance staff would tell me I had the best surgeon when I tell them Dr. Miller repaired my knees (his skill and precision are well know in the DFW orthopedic field). To anyone needing new knees, don't do anything until you talk to Dr. Miller. On Dec. 31, 2019, he did a dual knee replacement for my 79 year old husband and it has been an amazing, out of this world experience. My husband had NO PAIN after the surgery and took NO MEDICATIONS other than an aspirin twice a day to prevent blood clots. After one week he graduated from his walker to a cane and after another week he was walking unassisted. He can drive again and is getting back to his chores around the house. From the hospital and staff to the visiting nurse and physical therapist afterwards, it has all been an outstanding experience. We have two trips to Europe scheduled for this spring and now we know we can go without any problems on the cobblestones or stairs. Thanks, Dr. Miller. You are the best there is. read more

No stars. The receptionist treated my mom shabbily when she tried to ask a question saying she was on break. The scheduler discouraged another family contact being added because my mom is over 80 and she could. My mom needs info! The doctor only told my mom he would operate but gave no details on what he would do. Office only sought right medicare insurance. No costs have been revealed. To date & 1 week from surgery she has no explanation of what is going to happen to her with knee surgery from doctor. Very bad info to patient. I told her to cancel immediately and call to report to Medicare (CMS). read more

Had a torn meniscus (MRI) in January, Miller only wanted to do surgery-never volunteering physiotherapy. He also made a snide comment about how I injured myself doing roofing-not appreciated. Not a great bedside manners. Never discussed options and then initially balked when I insisted on that option-one call always do surgery if something doesnt work. Bottom line, went to physiotherapy for 3 months and can now I can go up and down stairs all day long, walk for 1.5 hours straight at a fast pace every day, even do some short jogs-not pushing myself yet as a precaution-all without surgery. On the up side, office is run efficiently and when i asked for physiotherapy they didn't say no. read more

I would never recommend Dr. Chris Miller with Tarpon Orthopedics. My 80+ year old mother had a foot injury. During our new patient appointment he barely spoke to us. He had no bedside manner whatsoever. We felt like he was very dismissive and uninterested in her condition. I had to ask him to remove her foot brace because he was ready to leave the room before he had even seen her foot, which was bruised and swollen. At the 3 week follow-up he was even worse answering our questions regarding her care. Prior to seeing Dr. Miller my mother did see another type of doctor in the practice for a related problem, and he was very pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, Dr. Miller did not provide the same experience and needs to rethink his people skills. In the future we will look for another orthopedic doctor for any additional care. read more

Dr. Chris Miller is amazing. For over a year, I was in constant pain due to a torn rotator cuff and a significant amount of bone spurs in my shoulder. Dr. Miller was able to quickly diagnose the exact source of my pain, and recommended fixing the root cause of the problem with surgery. I agreed, and I am so glad I did. The care he provided me was outstanding. The repair was done via laparoscopy, and I only missed a day and a half of work. I took pain pills at night for only a couple of evenings, and that was it. Remarkable. His staff is also fantastic. I rarely had to wait for my appointments, and was always greeted by a friendly team member. Special shout out to both Luis and Garrett! My only regret is not having Dr. Miller perform the surgery sooner. I'm in physical therapy now, doing incredibly well, and I am 100% pain free. I would highly recommend Dr. Miller to anyone for any orthopedic procedure. If you're in pain, there is no reason to live with it as long as Dr. Miller is around. You owe it to yourself to have him review your symptoms and provide a recommendation for treatment. I've found my orthopedic surgeon for life! read more

The most professionally run doctor's office I've ever been too. Everyone is kind, nice and professional and goes out of there way to help you. I was referred to Dr. Miller by my chiropractor after a serious car accident. I met Dr. Miller who immediately got me in for a MRI. The office scheduled it, called over to MRI office, and went above and beyond to get me worked in immediately. Every visit to the office ran on time and Dr. Miller took time to talk to me. I ended up needing shoulder surgery for multiple tears. On surgery day Dr. Miller came in and made sure I was ok as he knew IV's cause me sever anxiety. His anesthesiologist was AMAZING too! Surgery was a success! The follow up care and physical therapy was great too! I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Miller and his entire staff. He is the epitome of what a great doctor/surgeon should be. My surgery was April 5th and it's now November 13 and I cannot believe that I'm feeling so great and able to do things I love again. Amazing and caring staff. They have been super helpful through my recovery and very understanding. Most places I have to wait an hour in the waiting room (after my scheduled time) and at least a half hour in my room. I am usually called into a room and seen within a 20 minute total time span at Tarpon Orthopedics. I love that they have an X-Ray machine in house and an MRI and CT Machine next door. Dr. Miller ruined my life. He operated on my shoulder, supposedly reattaching my bisep tendon. Less than 2 weeks after the surgery, I picked up a tiny TV remote & it snapped. The second surgery he performed to repair the tendon AGAIN caused irreversible nerve damage that produced extreme pain 24/7 with no relief. I had 2 additional surgeries by other doctors to try & repair his mistake, but nothing worked. I can't work, can't feel anything except fire & pain in my arm due to the numbness the nerve damaged caused. I wish I had never let this 'doctor' touch me. It may be the biggest regret in my life. Seriously, this visit was beyond excellent, and coming from me, a caregiver for a woman with Muscular Dystrophy(with no ambulatory mobility) ,Dr. Miller and his whole staff allowed time and assistance with the whole visit. Dr Miller was professional, thorough, extremely informative, and completely hands on when evaluating his patient. We discussed options and the beginning to the end of a potential surgical procedure ahead. It is ONLY because of Dr. Miller's knowledge, compassion, and commitment to the patient with a positive mindset that we are even proceeding with this surgery. With decades of many Doctor visits, including Specialist, that I can truly write this high of a recommendation of Dr. Miller. Top Notch Surgeon.... from front office through to his staff and P.As all round Chris Miller is a shining star. Trust me - I should know I had three opinions on my colles fracture... Which is also known as a displaced radial fracture. It was bad. There are a few reasons that made me comfortable with Dr. Miller - but I'd have to say the number one reason that sold me on this surgeon is his bedside manner. May sound weak to some of you - but Dr. Miller exudes a certain type of empathy and familiarity that is rare and so comforting that all and any fear that you may have been experiencing dissipates. He doesn't use scare tactics like one of the other places I visited did. Can I put that place on blast? Let's just say it was an Orthopedic place in Plano -two major words there that are also in the title of their clinic. That place left me conflicted - scared, unsure, and worried and also like I just left a processing plant where they wanted to just push people through and into surgery - I call it scare tactics. No one needs that nonsense in their life. Tarpon Orthopedics- especially Dr. Chris (handsome) Miller - is professional yet so warm and welcoming. You don't feel like a number- or like he's been practicing for so many years he's a jaded surgeon with a holier than thou attitude. Nope -you're made to feel number one. Like you were his first ever patient. He's attentive- and listens- calms your fears, answers your questions and spends the time with you to make you feel just comfortable and at ease. As for this work and surgery skills. He's unbelievable. My scar is impressive and beautiful. Although He did also say I was an exemplary patient- I couldn't more thrilled on my results. One month from the date of my surgery and BOOM no more cast. After the three opinions- I can't tell you how glad I am I went with Dr. "Well Dressed" Miller. Yay I still have more characters to type. He not only cares about his patients but his staff is obviously loved by him and vice Versa. You can tell they love their boss- there is no hierarchical "I'm a Doctor and you're merely my workers attitude". When my accident happened I asked around as to who I should see -based on people I worked with who had been in similar situations. Well I should have just stuck with the service program that is offered to me at work known as "compass". They do the ground work and find doctors in your area that have been recognized as outstanding in more than one area. This is where Dr. Miller was. He's up with the times. Relatable, professional, reassuring and warm. And his skills are unparalleled -I could go on but I may run out of characters. I'm so very happy I chose Dr.Miller-you know he's the type of Dr you could call up and talk to and he would answer the phone and you can hear the smile in his voice and the care in his conversation. Unfortunately, my experience was not as pleasant as other reviews that I read. The staff was wonderful, helpful, courteous and professional. When I went in to see Dr Miller, he sent me in to get x-rays of my shoulder and my knees. He confirmed what I already knew and that was that both knees have no cartiledge left in them and the bones are rubbing against other bones and it is excruciating pain. His office got authorization that both knees were covered at 100% with my insurance company for knee injections so I scheduled an appt.Speaking to Dr Miller's assistant Amanda, I told her that I didn't like his bedside manner. When he got the x-rays back, he didn't show me anything and when I asked him a question about what knee replacement surgery would involve, he said: "When you're ready to have surgery, we'll discuss it". He got up and started walking out of the room like he was giving me the bums rush!! I explained all this to Amanda, and he had another assistant call me and tell me that he didn't think he could continue seeing me, because of what I said to his assistant. I guess the man doesn't know how to take corrective criticism! Because he wouldn't see me, I have been suffering for over a month, hardly able to walk because of the pain in my knees because I had to wait for another Doctor to get authorization for the injections. I came to see Dr. Miller after years of pain from a sports injury. It turned out that I had been previously misdiagnosed by another surgeon. Dr. Miller took a lot of Time explaining the nature of my injury and prescribed an additional MRI to confirm his assessment. On my second visit, Dr. Miller thoroughly revived the MRI film with me and answered all of my questions. On both occasions, I was admitted to an exam room immediately. I did not wait more than 2 minutes in the room before Dr. Miller came in to see me. I really appreciated his calm and patient demeanor. I never felt as if he was in a rush to move on to the next patient. I'm not excited about my surgery, but I at least feel that I am in good hands with Dr Miller. After arriving to Tarpon, we did not have to wait in the lobby before getting placed in an exam room. We were then visited by his nurse who was friendly and competent. Dr. Miller arrived shortly after and was polite and friendly. He did a thorough physical exam and interpreted his own x-rays (although he already knew what the injury was based on his exam). He then gave us multiple choices of care paths we could pursue and advocated for least invasive which we appreciated. We chose a treatment and are feeling better. I cannot praise Dr. Miller enough! He is an incredible surgeon, and a fantastic human being! His team is fantastic!!!! I suffered for over 5 years with pain in my hip. Although it started as simply an annoying strain, over time it got worse and worse, but as often happens, because the degradation was gradual, I adjusted to the increased pain and reduced mobility. Then I became a consultant, and income was tied directly to my ability to travel nearly every week, so taking time out for surgery and recovery was just not an option. Finally, the pain forced me onto crutches. My husband had recently consulted with Dr. Miller about his knees, and really liked him. So I went to see Dr. Miller. The practice was efficient, helpful, polite, informative, and made me feel that I was important to each of them. X-rays were done within minutes of the start of my appointment, and the acuteness of my situation was taken very seriously by the staff. Within a week I was undergoing a full hip replacement. I was immediately confident in Dr. Miller's ability - his empathetic but direct diagnosis and treatment recommendation were comforting. He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. His staff was phenomenal at getting my surgery scheduled and all the pre-operative requirements completed in only three business days. The surgery was done on an out-patient basis - I went into the operating room at 7:00 a.m., and walked out of the hospital (with a walker) at 11:30 a.m. Within a week I was off the walker and on crutches, and by the end of the 2nd week I was using only a cane for balance, and was going to work in the office. By the end of the third week I ditched the cane. Dr. Miller gave me my life back. I have had an absolutely incredible recovery - week 5 and I flew for the first time since the surgery - it was incredible to walk through the airport and up the ramp at the arrival gate without pain or limitation in my mobility! I'm a bit of a klutz and hurt my knee while working around the yard. It wasn't getting better so I looked up orthopedic doctors on my insurance's webpage and found Dr. Chris Miller. He able to see me the next morning. He was on time and professional, but after an MRI found I had a torn meniscus. He told me that the procedure would be quick, with minimal pain, Sure I thought. The day of the procedure I was more than a little concern, but the truth is that it was exactly as he described. The orthoscopic procedure lasted 20 minutes I didn't need any after surgery pain relief. The following day I walked 4 block, pain free and have only felt discomfort when I kneel. Needed to find an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose my knee injury. I've never been seriously injured physically before. Dr. Miller accommodated my appointment, reviewed my MRI, assessed my injury and immediately knew that I tore my meniscus. He was extremely understanding and patient with me.
