This guy is the Super Locksmith to call! Chris is an angel! After stupidly locking myself out on a Saturday, I called a half a dozen "24/7" locksmiths and just answering machines and guys who said they don't work weekends. Thank goodness for Chris, he answered immediately and was actually on his way to my apartment while we were still on the phone. He said text me your address and like a super hero, he was at my doorway in under 30 minutes. Then he put his super lockpicking skills to real work and some how managed to pick my door lock without any damage to the lock itself! Chris really saved me on a Friday night at around 5pm. I was locked out of all three of the highly secured doors at the house in Novato. Needing access for the evening and the events we had planned for the weekend, all locksmiths were busy in Marin County but Chris came to the rescue. Chris Richards was awesome! My copied keys stopped working in my two outside locks, although the original still worked. Mr. Richards came to my home, tried spraying some lubricant into both, and they got freed up immediately! Apparently this occurs with change of season and is quite common. It took him five minutes, and he left without charging me for a house call! He is also very personable and nice to deal with. Chris saved the day for us - it was 5pm on a Wednesday and the commercial lock to the office of our retail business in Downtown Novato failed. We ran all over town trying to find a replacement lock that would work but were running out of time and options to get the place locked for the night. Chris was awesome to work with! He responded to email almost immediately (prefers text). I sent him email with photo of lock fix needs and he sent over a quote. Within a day, scheduled to come by. He was very knowledgeable in his craft and gave me options (as in no need to change lock, if he can fix via lubrication). He fixed a total of 4 deadbolts for me and was in and out within an hour or so! He accepts all types of payments: credit card & check (I paid via AMEX). Chris just saved the day!! My boyfriend and I stopped to get gas. My boyfriend drives an older car that requires the gas to be unlocked using the same key for the doors and the ignition. As we were trying to unlock the gas to fill up, the key broke inside the lock. We didn't have a spare and are up visiting from San Diego, so didn't have anyone that we could call to help us. We called roadside assistance to have a locksmith sent out. After being quoted $160 for a new key to be made, we were told that the lock smith would be there within 40 mins. We waited in the car at the pump for over an hour, then called the locksmith that was suppose to come out. He didn't answer, then a minute later sent a text saying "just wait." We waited about 15 mins more and then called roadside assistance back to let them know how long we had been waiting. They told us that the locksmith lost the code for the key and that they would cancel the request with him and put in a new request with a new provider. After being put on hold for 8 minutes, they came back on the line saying that they could have someone else come out in about 50 minutes and would charge $269 to make a new key!!! Needless to say, we were pretty freaking frustrated at that point. Flash forward about 5 minutes, we are on the phone trying to get quotes from other locksmiths and happen to notice Chris in his van stopped at at a red light on the street near us. My boyfriend called to him and asked if he could help us. He circled around the block and without skipping a beat hopped out of his van, grabbed some tools and started straight away working on getting the broken piece of key out of the gas lock. He told us as he was working on that that he had stopped locksmiths get for auto years ago, which made it even more impressive that he didn't hesitate for a second in helping. Within about 5 minutes he had the broken piece out. We followed him over to his van. He wasn't sure if he had the correct key to make a duplicate, but got in there and started digging around looking just in case he did. Surprisingly he found the right one and made a duplicate for us right there! All in all it took him about 15 minutes to fix our nightmare, was such a nice gentleman in the process, and never once made us feel like he was put out for going out of his way on his busy day to help us out. He gave us an amazing deal (I'm sure he could tell how frustrated we were with the other people we tried to work with), shook our hands and was in his way. What a nice guy!! CHRIS RICHARDS is the BEST!! He is personable, responsible, trustworthy, does excellent work, and will never overcharge. I have used him several times to re-key our home and our family members' homes. He takes the time to research the best lock for the best price on his own time before he comes out to make sure his work is done well. If it's an emergency, he has an extensive inventory to work from. Upon returning from an out of town trip, my husband realized he had lost both his house and car keys, as they were on the same chain. We were stuck at SFO airport during the dinner hour. While my husband tried to reach his auto repair garage to get into his car, I had a had time getting phone reception, didn't know a locksmith to call and called an online company from the airport who I later found was just a brokerage company working with unknown locksmiths. We took Uber home to Marin that took about an hour. My husband stayed in the Uber car so he could attend an urgent client meeting. I stood in our driveway for another hour until a shifty barely English speaking "locksmith" arrived and doubled the ballpark price quoted by the "company" that didn't even know him. He gave me an obvious overpriced quote, without even getting out of his car. I apologized for his drive, but had to refuse his services. I kept calling around and was glad to find a locksmith who didn't gouge or even charge extra for an evening lockout. Chris responded quickly, quoted me a reasonable ballpark price and told me what determined his cost, assured me he would be there as soon as his prior job was complete, would stay as long as it takes and came out soon afterwards. He arrived, never stopping for dinner because he sympathized with me, knowing I was frustrated and waiting a long time alone outside my home. He then stayed late after dark trying to repair the front door lock, walked around outside the house which was built on a deep slope, trying to get me into the home through either the side or back doors which also had faulty ancient locks and stayed until the job was done. He replaced the front door lock, adjusted a side door lock then later replaced the back door lock-never complaining about the weird old locks or the time he spent, and never overcharged us. His final cost was less than the quote I received from the shifty locksmith sent by the online company, who never walked to our front door. That locksmith undoubtedly would have jacked up the price even higher once he discovered how uneven the door was on the weird front door lock. Chris is our locksmith.
