This branch carries a good stock of Manfrotto tripods - I bought a 190CXPRO4 & three way head for a good price. If you shop here regularly & are recognised, it's worth asking for a discount. They sell the usual brands & will clean DSLR sensors if you don't want to or dare do it yourself! Worth a visit.

I left feeling that I had bought my Granddaughter exactly the correct Cannon DSLR, stabilised lens and kit for her 6th form course at a very reasonable price. Why had I even bothered to go to the headless chickens of Curreys/PC World earlier........probably more expensive with no interest or expertise.

Staff pride themselves on the advice that they can give and they really do seem to know their stuff. They're happy for you to handle cameras and will not try to push you into a purchase that you're not happy with. They're happy for you to go away. A wide range of makes are stocked. New and secondhand models are available. The shop carries a huge range of accessories for photographers from bags to lenses, metres to tripods, albums to frames. Prices are competative. There's a photo processing service which offers excellent results although it will cost you more than the main chains. The shop itself is old, cluttered and dark. It feels like it should though! I'd recommend Harpers and their service without hesitation.

The staff in this store really know their stuff, which is the chief reason you would come here over…read moresome generic (but cheaper) chain store like Currys Digital or whatever. I admit that I know bugger all about photography, but when I was looking for an SLR camera for my girlfriend's birthday, this store was no end of help and I ended up buying one of their second hand models, which came fully guaranteed and resulted in a great present according to my girlfriend. I often pop back every now and then to have a browse, which the staff don't mind at all - a rarity these days, I'm sure you'll agree.

Small but…read moreextremely well stocked shop, with very experienced and knowledgeable staff who are also very helpful and a pleasure to visit. I had to take my camera in to be repaired and they were very quick, and honest about what needed doing and what it would cost. They also do photo printing but it has to be sent away they are very good for black and white film which is something to bear in mind. If they can't help you then they will always recommend alternatives or if they don't have what you need will order it in, always happy to go the extra mile.
