Checked out a Junior Ranger backpack and hiked one of the hiking trails (couldn't do much more because it had been raining). We will be back for sure! It was spring so not too bad with bugs. There was a huge thunderstorm the first night so the ground was really soggy the next day. Our tent did not leak but the next day when the sun was out we unpegged it and turned it over for the bottom and the ground beneath to dry out. We had our dog and she and I did several walks on trails. The park restrooms were fine, they do a great job of keeping them clean. About the only negative thing was the erosion next to where we parked our truck, almost a 10 inch drop off but I see this a lot at Texas state parks. I wish the Texas state government would put more into maintenance.

We love fishing together so we booked a morning with BigCrappie. We had a great trip with Dakota! Not always easy to find the fish in the middle of the summer but he got us on white bass and crappie. From potting plants to goat yoga and even a train ride, there was plenty to do. The fest was geared more towards kids so if you're planning for a day of fun in the area, put it on your calendar. It's also dog friendly so if you want to bring a furry friend you're able to. We had a lot of fun although you can do just about everything in around 30 minutes. There's a few food trucks as well if you're looking for a bite to eat and there were free gift bags on the way out with snacks, which were nice. They helped him pull off the perfect proposal and even stayed open later to help him out when he hit traffic coming from Frisco and got there much later than he had planned. Everyone he talked to was so sweet and genuinely excited for him. The boat and the lake were so lovely and we got the most stunning photos with the sunset. We really appreciate everything Lone Star Marina did to make sure everything went smoothly and their customer service was amazing. The boat looked clean and so nice in every photo and we couldn't be happier with our experience with them and with their boat!
