On the some weekends there are people giving birthday parties or barbecuing at the Barbecue Grills. There is a Fishing Pier, Parking lot area, Pavilions (Small), Picnic Tables, a Playground where my kids play and swing, a Sand Volleyball Court, Trails for Hiking / Biking. Lots of fish, turtles, birds and bugs around and in it. I've seen tons of sunfish and bass within it. It should have some larger bass by now. With the fountain spraying, I bet the fish do enjoy it! It is a great thing to hike around with the kids during the fair or when the fair is not in process. There are some artwork obstacles that used to be open to walk on but seems like now they are fenced off. During the fair, there are Swan Paddle boats to ride around parts of the lagoon.

The sculpture--made to resemble a fern--is so inviting to walk on and invoked me to interact with playfully & reverent curiosity. The views of the lagoon are great from every side with ample seating options, nearby public restrooms, and plenty of wildlife to observe. I would love to come back to simply reflect, go for a walk, or introduce guests to this wonderful marvel! Dallas has so much to offer! After the gate is closed if you need to be let out, you have to call the police. But there's so much to do here! Not just the swimming area! There's a hiking trail, playground and walking trails. Beautiful views and plenty of space to social distance yourself. The trails are available for no fee as far as I could tell, but the swimming area near WhoaZone is $5. They do not take cash, only debit/credit card. The swimming area has a playground and picnic areas. I think there's a spot to cast your kayaks off over there too, but I stayed near the beach and didn't explore anything else. I saw vehicles with kayaks going over on the other side. If you have water shoes, I'd say bring them and a beach umbrella as there's no shade. The sand isn't too uncomfortable to lie in, there's just cigarette butts here and there. But I definitely recommend visiting for the day or even camping if you're into it!

The gazebo gives a great view of the lake and being able to walk the shore and skip rocks is always a very relaxing thing to do. There's actually a secret spot tucked off away from the lake that people don't know about. Good fishing in that part, but not so much in the lake itself from the human interaction on the edge of the water. Families come out and hang out and windsurf so it's pretty family friendly. Also a nice place to go on a date and star gaze. Lots of traffic here on the holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Juneteenth, and New Years. People from all over come out and celebrate and it can get a little hectic but there's plenty of space to do what you want. I'll always love this place

They gave us clear instructions of what to do, gave us life jackets and helped us in and out of the water. Whenever we got back- I told Libby how my shorts were wet from getting in the kayak (there was left over water in the kayak) and she ran and got me a towel and allowed me to take it home ! The sweetest !! They have a little parking lot on both sides of the rental area so it's easy in and out (free parking). In terms of renting the kayaks- they offer 10% off for all students, teachers and military. For the hour it was only $20. I felt like it was a fun nature activity. I also love that a small portion of their funds go back to support local Dallas communities and parks. Can't wait to go back and do it again!

The parking is public and we didn't have any issues for our three cars. The location was very easy to find; right next to the boat ramp. The staff was inviting and helpful. We signed our waivers, hopped in, and James shoved us off to leave us up to our own adventure. Will definitely do it again! Please note it is credit card only. Dogs are allowed but must have a life jacket. Also, if it is too windy they have to shut down operations--about 25 mph, so it may be best to check conditions or call in advance.
