The temperature was comfortable inside during the services, the aesthetics were great, you could clearly hear the service and the music. The priest did a great job with the baptism immediately following the 1230pm service. I love the fact that their services were timely. They started immediately at 12:30. Parking was wonderful, across the street in the lot. Services started and ended on time which allowed people to get to their cars and on their way. They had crossing guard, which helped with traffic flow. What a great way to start the week.

Let talk about the amazing church and the incredible historical significance of this church. I have passed this place up so many times but once inside I could not get keep my mouth closed it was the most beautiful place I have seen in my lifetime. The service started at 1230 and we had the christening immediately afterwards. This will not be my last time visiting. I also saw other reviews on this church but no one ever mentioned the parking and how it is plenty spot available.

I really love this community…read more I was church shopping a couple years back and never thought to go to my neighborhood church. I chose it because: 1) It's diverse. If you attend 10:30 mass on Sunday, you'll see all sorts of races and ages in the congregation. 2) There's character and history. This parish was founded in 1908 and the chapel was built in the 1920s and is just gorgeous with the stained glass windows of Saints who are popular in the original Polish and German community in the Heights. 3) Everyone is nice. Father Adam - nice. Deacon Gary - nice. Office staff - nice. The inside of the chapel is beautiful. You won't find the usual crucifix hanging above the tabernacle. Instead, there's a mural of the Trinity. The ceiling is midnight blue with stars painted on top of it. Sounds hokey but it's quite nice. This is where the hubby and I tied the knot as well. Marriage prep classes are offered and you qualify to get that marriage license fee waived upon completion.

ROBC.org offers more than bricks and mortar - ROBC offers you a way home. I did not grow up Baptist - and appreciate that this church is not a typical hard-shell Baptist church. I have never heard a judgmental word from the pulpit. Regular programs keep us all interested. And forget the River Oaks name - while full of the well-heeled, ROBC is the place to go to have a personal relationship with Christ, each other and finally ROBC prepares you for the challenges of life. If you have been attending a large corporate church or a TV church you will enjoy ROBC's offerings. God is present here - shouldn't you be too? Blessings Glenn

MY 1,000th YELP REVIEW goes to......... WHEELER AVENUE!!!…read more It feels only fitting that my 1,000 Yelp review honors a place that celebrates generations of leadership, families, and community. I had the privilege of attending Troop 242's Court of Honor at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, where eight outstanding young men earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, bringing the historic troop's total to 229 Eagle Scouts. That is an achievement worth celebrating! I truly appreciated that the Court of Honor was held in the church's original sanctuary, which added a sense of history and tradition to such an important milestone. After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the event space across the parking lot to continue the celebration with family, friends, Scout leaders, and alumni's . It was wonderful catching up with members from my son's Eagle Scout class and seeing the lifelong bonds that Troop 242 continues to create. The ceremony was inspiring, filled with stories of their journeys (mainly not wanting to be a part of, or either didn't know what to expect) and appreciating their parents for giving them something they didn't know they needed, with so many life skills. From perseverance, leadership, and service to others. The reception was just as memorable. The decorative Eagle Scout-themed cookies were absolutely beautiful, almost too pretty to eat. The lunch was delicious, with both the seafood pasta and chicken pasta being the families favorites. Every detail reflected the care and prided that went into honoring these young men and their accomplishments. HISTORY FACT: 1974 is the year Scouting becomes fully racially integrated. Troop 242 is a historic Black Boy Scout troop in Houston with an extraordinary legacy of developing young leaders of character, service, and integrity; since 1967 founded by late great Rev. William A. Lawson (May 2024). Who started this troop so that Black Scouts would have a place in scouting, during an era in America where all other troops were for white scouts only. Congratulations to the newest Eagle Scouts, their families and the dedicated Scoutmasters, volunteers, and mentors who continue to invest in the next generation. Thank you, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, for providing such a beautiful and welcoming setting for this unforgettable celebration. I couldn't think of a more meaningful event to commemorate my 1,000th Yelp review.

Finally found a church in Houston that feels like a home. The minister, Jim Birchfield is great. I…read moreushered at Redeemer Presbyterian in NYC, Tim Keller's church, and it has been hard to find a substitute. Pastor Birchfield does a great job with his sermons. The other pastors aren't quite there though in terms of speaker presence, but they are young and that is alright. This is a very welcoming community and it seems like there are a lot of family oriented activities and groups for all ages. They have a very nice choir. Their Christmas program was also very nice with its candle lit service. Again, very family centered and beautiful church.

Harris County Department of Education alternates between using KBC and the Berry Center in Cypress…read morefor convocation prior to the start of school to amp up employees. In the years that I've worked for HCDE, we've used KBC about 2 or 3 times now. While it is in a far location of Houston, the facility is large and clean. We use the separate room and hallways for the food that's served and to create a large donut wall prop, photo op backdrops, or like this year, arcades to celebrate the 80s. The gym is used to hold the actual gathering and can fit hundreds of people. We have 900+ employees at HCDE. Round tables with chairs or rows of chairs can be placed to fill up the gym, and there's extra seating on the bleachers. There are 2 large TV screens on each side of the stage for you to show videos/presentations or the speaker on stage. The parking lot is also large and broken up into different areas. It's enough to provide everyone with a parking spot. I know we will use this facility for years to come. Thank you, KBC for opening your facility to us!

The staff are welcoming and they even have HPD on the clock making sure that the property is well protected. This building even holds a school for the children! KBC truly does it all and I enjoy the positive vibes every time I'm here.
