(my brutally honest opinion.)

I went here only two years, but those two years actually left lasting scars on my mental health…read morethat I can only now say that I've recovered from five years later. It is not a nurturing environment, it doesn't even try to be one. The only Alumni leaving 4-5 star reviews would be those in the A-class, the 'smart class' who were the only ones the teachers actually put effort into. Seriously. I remember doing the same math problem for an entire year in C-class while A-class children were learning Latin. That was the overall experience. If you're labeled a smart kid, they prepare you for highschool. If not, you will likely spend a good chunk of highschool paying for it. That's only on the value of the school's education. Ethically, this place was questionable as other reviews can attest to. As a child, a legal minor, I was told that I would be condemned to hell if I got an abortion, transitioned to a different gender, or voted Democrat. And that's just what I can recall five years later. That seems awfully religiously (and politically) motivated for a school that isn't officially affiliated with any religion. And this might seem like typical Catholic rhetoric, but we weren't actually taught anything you would actually learn in a religion class, I didn't see a Bible ONCE. We just had moral superiority and religious flavored threats shoved down our throats. After leaving this school I have been told that the incentive behind its founding in the 1963 was desegregation in Louisiana schools. Of course, the school would never admit to that and I'm not old enough to confirm it, but I would believe it after witnessing how many of my non-white or even non-Christian peers were treated. Socially? I witnessed on multiple occasions bullying and verbal altercations turn physically violent, and teachers never did anything to deescalate the situation or break the kids up. I don't personally know anyone who didn't have some form of social anxiety or awkwardness after leaving this school. The social environment is the human equivalent of broiler chickens pecking each other's feathers out due to stress. Don't send your children here. There are many better and more nurturing options out there. The public school districts around genuinely aren't bad enough for this to be an option. If an administrator is reading this, please treat these children better. They are kids, blank slates, and you aren't teaching or even encouraging them to be good people.

Concerned, we realized we had not looked into this schools security measures. We contacted administration. After going over the response we realized our public school system was doing more, SRO's, electronic locks, etc. We decided we were going drop our toddler from their program less then 2 weeks from our application 3 months before the following school year began. This is where the administration went dark. We had already handed over our FULL years tuition with our application. After two weeks of no info on our refund status after countless emails and calls. I met with the principal. I realized he was adamant about keeping a HUGE portion of our families funds even though our toddler has never used the facilities and we were dropping 3 months before. As reasonable people we expected to lose a deposit. This was not the case. PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR POLICIES before even beginning enrollment. They will hold as steadfast to these as tightly as they will your families funds. No matter the circumstance as Mr. Humphries made this very clear during our meeting. I cannot speak on the learning environment or educational staff as we only had the most unfortunate situation of dealing with the principal and admissions staff. If you enroll your child here and have any concerns regarding safety my hope is that your concerns will not be handled as callously as our families. Goodluck.

In response to Isabelle G's review:…read more At what point in history did our society reach such a low where one person could slander and accuse another person's character without any repercussions, all in the name of righteousness? In a Court of Law one repeating what others have said or seen is called Heresy. Yet you so easily throw this lady under the bus without a shred of hard evidence. Please provide the links to the two 2015 Articles in NOLA.COM so I can read for myself. Your righteous indignation is so lofty, did you at ANY TIME go to this lady yourself and inquire if these accusations were true? Are you aware of Matthew 18:15, which states very plainly, "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault IN PRIVATE; if he listens to you, you have won your brother." I can find nowhere in scripture where it says, "If your brother sins, go and POST ON THE INTERNET FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE FOREVER AND EVER." You should be ashamed of yourself for putting something like this on the Internet. If God forbid the accusations were true, I would hope that her family and her Christian Family at Church and School could help and assist her, NOT humiliate her by posting on the Internet her short comings. I'm so happy to know that you are so Perfect and Sinless. Maybe I can be lucky enough to be able to stand behind you on the Day of Reckoning before our Lord and Maker. That way I'll have a front row seat when you are struck with a lightening bolt for your thoughtless and self-absorbed "act of kindness" for all to see on Yelp! If I were this teacher, I would take legal action against this Isabelle G and the other parents for invasion of privacy and defamation of character.

Many of OLL (not LOL) faculty and staff are homeowners in Old Mandeville, which helps form a stable and secure environment for the little ones. Speaking of faculty and staff I am extremely blessed to live on the same street as this sweet, loving, VERY dedicated, mother, wife, and religion teacher. Did you know that she even has a statue is her front garden to honor our blessed mother? What more could a school ask for in a religion teacher? It's an all out crab war!

I was hesitant to leave a review at first because everything just felt too good to be true…read more We had an extremely different experience (and a lot of frustration and tears) at a very big well known school out here. It's not too good to be true. We've been there nearly five months now, two classes, one mid-switch in to their summer program, and it just keeps getting better. Every morning when you walk in the wonderful smells of fresh baked goods hit you in the face. Every day you smell blueberry muffins, French toast, banana bread, and cinnamon rolls. I'm not sure what's more welcoming, the smells or all of the happy and loving teachers working together on the playground every morning. It's the best way for a baby/toddler/pre-schooler to start their day, getting all of their early morning excitement out in a fun (and loving) environment. Every day, when you walk in, your child is greeted by not just their teacher for their classroom, but every teacher there. The director, Ashley, is extremely responsive and fast and always kind and showing a nurturing, but very professional environment. We have never had any issues with other students, and the parents are all very friendly walking in and out every day and not snooty at all. It is the best feeling to have your child dropped off and then be so excited to go somewhere and then watch them receive a bunch of hugs walking in and then give hugs and friendly waves on the way out. The cost is more than worth it and we have yet to have any weird health issues that usually happen in daycare. I know it happens, but in five months we haven't had one illness! In our past experiences, this and unexpected pick ups were a very frequent matter. I love that it gives me the impression that their environments are kept very clean (you always see the two carts every day, one with freshly made foods and one with cleaning supplies for each room!). They make fun plans for the babies, without asking for a world of donations every month. This post is not long enough for me to recommend all of the things they have to offer, but just know that as a parent, our three year old has truly thrived and come out of her shell and wakes up happy and ready to go every morning to be here! Thank you PKA, our only regret is not being a part of the family sooner
