I visited the Taxidermy Hall of Fame. Admission is free but they have a donation box near the end. Outside of the store is a bear with a sign for the museum. The Taxidermy Hall of Fame is on three levels. It starts to your left, near the entrance and you go down the stairs. Besides the taxidermy, there are antique tools from saws to knives to can openers to hammers to barbed wire and one case even had cds. Another had golf balls. I think there were some beer cans and Beanie Babies too. It is an eclectic variety of items inside. The random items are mixed in with the taxidermy. There are religious messages throughout too that go against evolution. It is a very strange and odd collection of items. read more

Fudge! There's a free fudge tasting of many types they sell. Very good fudge, I bought several. Store has nice selection of puzzles and of course books. Im Catholic but I thought it was interesting about their exhibits (creationist theory). Friendly staff of course. read more

Now, I may have not been in a lot of Christian Bookstores in my time, but I am absolutely sure that this one tops them all! And by not a lot of Christian Bookstores, I mean I'm completely not religious in any way. That said, I'd really like to congratulate and applause the Christians that created this store and evolved it to it's current state, BUT since they don't really believe in evolution, I guess I can't. Seriously people, if you have ever desired to eat awesome homemade fudge, see crazy dead animals in weird positions, be preached at for being a non God fearing individual and relish in viewing homemade shrines to George Bush Senior, George W & Ronald Regan, than this is the place for you!! It's unbelievable. There's one part of the underground museum, where you can look up and see about 100 rusty antique tools hovering on the ceiling, peering down at you. At that moment is when I usually think to myself, "Hmmm.... Maybe this is a trap for us Atheists and they're about to close us into a cage and drop these creepy tools on us and then bury our bones with their weird Crystal Oozy." (If you go into their museum, you'll see their weird analogy about a crystal oozy in a desert, referring to believers & non-believers.) But the horror and terror of this awesome museum is what keeps me coming back for more! If you happen to be in Southern Pines, NC, you've got to go down to Broad Street and check this place out! If you're into roadside weirdness, the NC Museum of Creation, Taxidermy Hall of Fame of North Carolina, and Antique Tool Museum housed within this Christian bookstore in downtown Southern Pines is definitely worth a trip. I can't speak for the fudge (which looked delicious) and I can't speak for the supposedly preachy employees (they didn't seem to care that we were there) but I can talk to the taxidermy. I don't care about Creationism. I'm clueless about antique tools. I do, however, love bad taxidermy. The thing about the NC Museum of Creation, Taxidermy Hall of Fame of North Carolina, and Antique Tool Museum is that not all the taxidermy is bad. Some of the bears, wolves, and foxes are well done. The bobcats and roadkill beaver, though, are a different story. See attached. Next time you're looking for something fun to do in Southern Pines, give this place a shot. I have been going into this store for many YEARS and have never been "Preached" at, unless i asked a question that involved scripture. Some of these other yelp reviews here just aren't truthful. They have allot of Great Christian Books and a fabulous collection of WREN Design Cards (England) and the Wren Mugs & Glassware. They have a walls full of colorful & well made Puzzles with beautiful landscapes, seascapes, Animals and Americana themes. And their FUDGE is The best I have ever had. They usually have 10-15 flavors available, which I buy & give as gifts. The clerks are polite and are helpful when asked, but they do not follow you around or get in your face...which, to me, is a perfect balance. I buy all my greeting cards & Christmas cards here because they have traditional American scenes. After all it IS A CHRISTIAN Bookstore. As far as the downstairs "Creation Museum" goes, I have only visited it twice and its was pretty cool when you consider that every day working people collected/donated to it and there was no hi-dollar philanthropists contributing/helping it along. And again, as far as an overabundance of NRA, Gun info, George Bush memorials/ paraphernalia..I honestly never noticed it. But Yanno, you don't have to take my word for it, go visit and taste a wonderful piece of FREE fudge..and browse the museum. read more

Hey I just figured that someone who is normal should give a review as well. I've been to this store many times and taken family and friends to check it out. First of all I don't recall any shrines to any of the Bush family or Ronald Reagan when I was there. It's unfortunate that people from New York have to come down to the South to get away from their crazy cities to get a glimpse of reality! I suggest next time to lay off the "sauce" before you take a tour of something this inspirational and moving. I applaud the efforts of the store owners to present truth in such an interesting and novel way. There are plenty of museums around that like to present a distorted view of our origins on this planet and it is a breath of relief to finally see someone give the accurate account instead. read more
