I have hired CBR for 2 leaks and just got an estimate for a 3rd problem due to wind damage on the roof of my deck. One leak was a repair all the way down to the wood. They were professional and did a good job, but over that winter, something happened and the leak started back up again the following spring. They came out and did more sealing around the furnace exhaust pipe and that fixed it. There was no extra charge for coming back. The second leak in my mobile home roof they were able to repair easily in a few minutes. We have had no other leaking in either spot. Ryan has been great to work with in figuring out the problems and what needed to be done. He has been honest and helpful and has explained the what's and why's to fix the problem areas. In the work they have done for me, Ryan shows he cares about doing jobs right, not just put a bandaid on the problem, especially when the problem was created by the things not put down right in the first place by someone else. read more

This past spring, our roof required replacing due to hail damage , just like many of our neighbors. We researched roofing companies, and after accepting bids from several, chose Christian Brothers based on their promises of superior work crews, quality materials and workmanship and efficient service. Also of importance to us, was the fact that they are a faith based company. I would really like to post a positive review, but I can only review what our experience was. The materials arrived as scheduled on a Monday and work was to begin the next day. We received a call that it would have to be rescheduled and work would begin on Wednesday. Since most of the neighbors' jobs had already been completed by this point, we knew that it would likely be a 2 to 3 day job. The first crew showed up and worked a partial day on Thursday, no one came on Friday due to a possible threat of rain( which did not happen). Another crew came on Saturday and worked a full day and then came on Sunday and worked an abbreviated day. There was another partial workday on Monday and again Tuesday. On Wednesday the manager came and did a walk-through where it was discovered that there were several major areas of siding damage and two large window screens that were slashed as well as a portion of the roof over the back door that was done so poorly that it needed to be adjusted. To their credit, Christian Brothers agreed to fix the damage. It has now been over two months and the final repairs were finally completed yesterday. We are still finding nails and pieces of shingles throughout the yard and discovered that four of the outdoor landscape lights were also destroyed. I do believe that the materials used were of high-quality, but overall this has been a very disappointing experience, and I can only hope that we are the exception and not the norm read more

2 years ago Christian Brothers inspected my roof. It didn't need replacing but they replaced some vents damaged by squirrels. Positive experience. After recent storms I asked them to come back. It was a different salesman this time. Again, the roof was in good shape except a few shingles were raised because of wind. There is a $450 minimum glue them down. They said they would do the repair and check for any other damage while on the roof. When they came about 3 weeks later, the worker was on the roof less than 20 minutes. It didn't look to me that any repair had been done. My contact called me back 2 days later and said the worker didn't think there was any wind damage, but did a little caulking and nailed a few nails down to make it worth the minimum charge. I didn't think that was a lot of work for $450. He said he could lower the bill to $350. I said that still seemed high for less than 20 minutes work. He got a little huffy with me and said it was dangerous work and there was driving time involved. I suggested the worker should have called him and maybe do nothing. Then he insisted I tell him how much I thought the job was worth. I wasn't interested in playing that game. He finally asked if I thought it was worth $300? By that time I was done with him and the company. I mailed my check and addressed the envelope to the owner of the company, hoping I might get some further explanation about what happened. I don't usually do negative reviews, but when my check cleared 3 days later and I never heard from the owner, I decided I would let other people know. A new roof install. Bid wasn't the lowest and not the highest. I reviewed the negative reviews on Yelp and noted they were quite old. I can't comment on those observations, but I think Christian Brothers learned some lessons. I didn't get any up sale. I got what would work for my home and a solid install. I don't hesitate to call out businesses that are out to take your money and cut corners. I have nothing bad to say about any part of the process. I experienced honesty and integrity. We paid $23,000.00 for a roof just 3 months ago and now we have leaks. The bad part is where it is leaking we just had the ceiling repaired and painted from previous damage to the cost of $3,000.00 more dollars!!!!!! They also did the gutters on the entire house - some company called Goodman that we never heard of. Same Damon issue - already have had them out 4 times to repair leaks. This is my second experience with Christian Brothers Roofing. When I got my roof redone about 5 years ago I wish I would have used them! But they have been willing to come out and check spots that were leaking. Last year my roof was leaking due to the lack of caulking which caused rain to come in my kitchen. Daniel came in and added caulking and the leak was fixed! Today he came and checked out a spot that could have been leaking into a bathroom. He took pictures and showed me that my roof was in excellent condition. He did add some caulking to an area to could be leaking into my bathroom. Christian Brothers Roofing (CBR), at $16,238, came in $3000 to $6000 higher than the next two bids, but I decided to give them a chance to tell me why their estimate was so high and what I would get for the very substantial excess costs. As you will see in her own words, it seems as though Melody, the CBR estimator, continuously apologized for the delays in getting back to me, making me feel undervalued as a customer, particularly one spending tens of thousands of dollars on a new roof. I contacted them on August 28, 2014, asking to meet the following Tuesday to discuss their bid. After hearing nothing for two days, I asked for a status. Four (4) days after my request to meet the following week, I finally received a response (with more apologies for being delayed) ... "I received your voicemail and your email. I have been out of town and apologize for the delayed response. Unfortunately, my schedule is very full for tomorrow...I might have some time around noon, but know that I would have more availability after 5pm. As for the references, at this point I would encourage you to look on Angies List. .... Again, I apologize for the delayed response ... " I guess customers are supposed to be more flexible than businesses when it comes to spending $16K, but I know that is not the case and told Melody my schedule could not meet her unreasonable demands. After all, I had given her 5 days to work me into her schedule, but she ignored me for four of the five. She arrived unannounced at the house the following Tuesday while I was meeting with other contractors, putting me in an uncomfortable position. However, after the other contractor left, I gave her the opportunity to discuss her bid, but it seemed all she could do was talk badly about the other bids (which she never saw) rather than trying to deflate her bid (full of unnecessary upsell/upgrade charges) to meet our rather hefty budget. Melody insisted that she could get my insurance company to pay for most, "if not all", of the roof replacement, so I sent her the contingency contract back immediately, telling her that our tenants had reported more leaks and interior damage after large storms that very morning and that it was urgent that we get to roof replaced ASAP if not take temporary precautions to avoid unneeded damage to the interior of our house: "We need to move quickly on this before more damage to our home is incurred as a result leaks in the roof. Is there something we can do to minimize damage until the claim is settled and work can be performed?" But I received no response indicating that Melody had received my message much less any indication that she had started working with our insurance company. In most states there are provisions for a three (3) day cooling off period after signing a service contract to cancel, so with $16,000+ on the line and an unresponsive contactor, I had to make a decision to protect myself and our home. I sent her the following message: "After 24 hours without a reply, unless I see some rapid progress, I'm going to have to go a different route. For $16K+, I need someone who is responsive and action oriented, particularly because WE HAVE A LEAKING ROOF CAUSING DAMAGE TO OUR HOUSE. I have until midnight Monday to cancel the contract under Missouri Law, but will be making a decision NLT 2pm tomorrow in order to get someone to secure our roof and prevent further damage." I guess I should not be surprised because customer service is a thing of the past and CBR apparently has more customers and money than they need (not surprising considering the cost of their inflated bids), but this is the unprofessional response I received: "I did take action after receiving your agreement yesterday afternoon and apologize that I have not been able to make rapid progress. From your previous email, I understand that you are unhappy with the lack of action takin by your insurance company. Unfortunately, I am not able to control your insurance company. Subsequently, I do not wish to work with someone who will begin making threats and quoting Missouri cancellation laws to me within 24 hours of sending in an email asking for CBR to help re-open an insurance claim and help collect on unpaid damages. From this point forward, I will consider our contract void" I remember the days when businesses believed that "the customer is always right" and we were treated with dignity and respect, but these days it is THE NORM, NOT THE EXCEPTION that businesses seem to care less about customer service. In many more cases, including this one, businesses apparently believe that they can do whatever they like, treating paying customers like we OWE IT TO THEM to dole out our hard earned money while being treated with indignity and disrespect. Had used previously for repair, all good. Unfortunately second time was not a charm. We had received quote from them for another repair but hadn't gotten firmly on their schedule. This literally was crossing of wires between 2 of their employees and my husband & I. Whatever. No harm no foul. Jen from their billing department called, left msg that she needed to hear from me to settle up outstanding bill, to avoid going to collections. Mind you no work had been done. Called her back to clear up any confusion. Figured she'd say oh whoops sorry, no big deal, we'd go on with our respective days. Instead she was super adversarial, said she'd look into that, but did I want to get on calendar or not, she needed to clean up her books. I asked repeatedly for her to confirm that there was indeed no outstanding invoice and nothing was going to collections since no work had been done. She refused. Since we'd done business with them before, had good experience, I reached out to my previous point of contact via email. He did respond apologetically quite promptly, said he'd look into. If I could give them 0 stars I would. First of all, their customer service is horrible!! A week after I signed the contract I had to call them to find out what was going on. I was told that they were "too busy" and forgot to call me. That should've been my sign to cancel the contract immediately. On top of that, I was called on the same day the work were to be done. How inconsiderate is that?! Thankfully, I just so happened to be off that day. Secondly, Kevin rushed my estimate and was not clear on what repairs would be done. For a professional job of siding, I would definitely recommend Christian Brothers Roofing. Scott Horstmann gave clear explanations of the product (James Hardie lap siding) and the application. My husband and I were able to view homes the company had done, as well as visit a site under construction. What sets Christian Brothers apart is the attention to detail. They were meticulous in adhering to the Hardie installation standards. While making excellent suggestions on trim and other options, they really listened to the particular things we wanted. Therefore, the final look of the house is as lovely as we envisioned it would be. Oh, and when a minor issue cropped up a year after the job was done, Scott was there to take care of us. I was gullible and let them have a copy of my insurance claim. Wow, it was to the penny the same amount for my roof. My roof cost about $3000 more than my neighbors did a year ago. (We all have the exact same roof with the same material required) Shane tried to blame it on the Hurricanes but I pointed out that the two he mentioned had not occurred before my paperwork. Shane then told me that my niegbor may have gotten a discount. I want the 1/2 price roof discount too. My advice is don't sign any contract and never let them see your insurance documents. This is a big scam to work it that way. They never actually gave me a quote until they had my insurance documents. Ihope to helps the next person to avoid my mistakes. Years ago, we had them come check after a hail storm and they said we did NOT need a new roof or even a patch job. (Others would've made a point to charge us $). We had initially signed up with another roofing company, but after a litany of delays (3months worth), and the other roofing company's chronic non responses, we terminated our contract and hired Christian Brothers Roofing. Within 3 hours of contacting them, Christian Brothers had assessed the job, offered a contract, and scheduled my job to begin the following week. The work they did was excellent on a large house with a very steep roof. Their crew was respectful of our property, cleaned up nicely, and their communication has been fantastic. Christian Brothers Roofing followed up with me throughout the reproofing project, and has even followed up on several occasions since the project was completed to make sure that I didn't have any concerns or issues after the fact. They definitely stand by their work, honor their warranty, and conduct themselves with integrity, honesty, and strong focus on customer service. They did our roof and I can not be more disappointed! They were cleaning up and hadn't done our bay window roof area so they grabbed my ladder I had lying underneath the window and leaned it on the guttering which damaged the gutter by the time they were done, and they did not vacuum and use a magnet (like my Ryan's roofing did for my daughter) they used a blower and blew them all off to the side, so needless to say we have found DOZENS upon DOZENS of nails and large staples in our driveway and yard. My granddaughter almost stepped on one and my daughters dog tried eating one and then almost stepped on it, not to mention I'm worried anytime my family leaves my driveway that they will end up with a flat tire. I wish I could share the picture of all the nails we found and are still finding. After speaking with them they had the nerve to tell me I could still be finding them for some time NOT ACCEPTABLE read more
