When our house was inspected, the inspector told us nearly everything looked fine-- except when he looked into the bathrooms. He peered his head into the downstairs bathroom, turned to us with a distressing grin, and just asked, "You're gutting these, right? To the studs?" The bathrooms had been basically destroyed by water damage and general neglect, so we hired D.S. Brody to gut the bathrooms to the studs, and rebuilt from scratch. Long story short, they did a superb job, came in at just about the price we were quoted despite some "surprises," and were flexible and professional. A year in, I still couldn't be happier with how the work turned out. Specifics: on top of being entirely gutted, the downstairs bathroom needed the toilet and the vanity switched, the upstairs bathroom needed to be extended into a hall closet, and both bathrooms required somewhat finicky tile work to be completed. Furthermore, we discovered that the pipes going from the basement into both bathrooms and the kitchen were not up to date and needed to be replaced in their entirety. We also had Dominique and her crew replace our back door and put in some small shelves in the kitchen. The icing on the cake was that we were out of state for more than three weeks of the work; due to some poor scheduling, first we were in Japan during demolition and early rebuilding, and then we were in Florida during much of the tiling process. Dominique kept in touch regularly and dealt beautifully with our absence, including through the discovery of the bad pipes, a (briefly horrifying) realization that the upstairs of our house was not actually built on a perfect 90 degree angle, and a multi-week delay of our tile shipment. The finished work looks and functions wonderfully, and we've had no problems whatsoever during this past year. I want to commend not only Dominique but also her crew, particularly foreman Obel, who continuously went above and beyond to get things looking and working just right for us. We would absolutely hire D.S. Brody for any further construction we might need, and strongly recommend them to anyone else in the area.

Although the representative of the first roofing service company was very professional and his…read moreproposal very detailed, the estimate from D S Brody & Associate was a little more than half the other price. (Two other companies never responded to my e-mail with needs.) Despite language about my responsibility for additional charges to resolve potential discovery of wood rot, the manager of D S Brody did not charge extra for carpentry in three damaged areas. The team did a great job. Based on a recommendation from a heating service that recently cleaned our heating chimney, I was prepared to have Brody install a metal chimney cap until: that team re-assessed, informed me with a picture of the crumbling top, then the manager recommended two flue pipes embedded with cement as the optimal long term solution. In response to my request, Brody gave a reasonable fixed-price and completed that task within two weeks of the first.

His brother, Michael, has taken care of and fixed my air conditioning for years. Due to this past winter storms, my house had some significant damage. Peter communicates frequently and the jobs were done on time and on budget. His workers do relatively quality work, but they cut corners due to Peter's instruction. I had them do a walk-in shower and the floor had to be redone by a professional tiler. The water was not draining (at the correct pitch) and puddling. After Peter's team re-did it the professional tiler took over because the puddling was not corrected. He ripped up what they had done and discovered they had just tiled over the first tile! He ripped it all up and started from scratch. Peter walked off the job and then sent me threatening texts, saying he was going to put a lien on my house, and sue me for slander. I had to hire an attorney. I had a very negative experience with this contractor and would highly recommend you run, not walk away!

I paid Jason for gutters windows to renovated my deck and to redo my front brick/granite steps…read more It's been a year and I can report that the gutters leak more than the old ones did, the deck was so hacked together that I've gotten recommendations to take it down and start over from scratch. He had two teams of guys one team did the front steps, they did an amazing job and during the job they found an issue... They fixed the issue and told me about it afterwards... No issues since then they are so nice they make the rest of my walkway look bad. But then he requested that I tell the rest of his laborers that.... I did the stairs with my father.....So that "his guy" didn't know he had someone else do that work. "His guy" did my front door. It was wrong and took 3 tries to get it right. He did my deck and it took 3-4 times to get that.... At least to the point it was safe enough. Posts not close to being straight. Pounds of wood filler in old rotted beams instead of replacing them like we talked about. Brand new decking sticking up an inch in the doorway. Everytime I opened my mouth the only response was "well.... Your house is old". Jesus.... This is why I hired a company called Renovate. I had it out with Jason, he told me not to worry, this guy was done and someone else would be doing the rest of the work. Great... So I left town for business and the day the new guy was supposed to show up my wife texted me to tell me the old guy was here and that Jason told her that he had already talked to me and we were all good to go.... Which wasn't true. By the time I got back to town the windows were half done and I had it out with Jason.... Jason defended his guy by saying he's a "master tiler with XX years of experience". I then reminded him that we weren't doing any tiles. So now it's a year later. One of the windows that was installed is now leaking under the sill into the house and creating water damage. So 10s of thousands of dollars later I have a jacked up deck. Water damage, and gutters that can't catch water and that rattle like crazy anytime the wind blows. All because his master tiler needed the work. I've reached out to Jason today about the water damage because I'm too busy fixing the deck. Hope to hear back from him. I personally think Jason is a nice enough guy but apparently got in over his head at my job. I even told him he needs to charge more and hire better people and stick to only have "his guy" doing tiles. Personally I'd stay away.

They cut corners all the time. They do new/old water taps to the water main and don't back fill with sand or stone (Not to state code) I know I worked for them before I was done with them stealing from me. Don't get screwed by them. Stay away. We did hundreds of water taps with no state code compaction and no state code for fill. Along with other things we were told to do not to code.

He came over and told me that this was a different leak. After I saved up enough money, I was referred to an expert in basement leaks/foundations. He came over and completed the work. Our project was not a major renovation, but we were never treated like the job was "too small." We had some flooring re-done in our basement, some custom shelving and a closet installed, and some minor touch up repairs done on the exterior of our house. From the day Eric was scheduled to come out for the estimate, we knew these guys were different. Not only did Eric show up on time for the estimate (when does THAT happen?), but he called about 5 minutes beforehand concerned that he might be late. We felt that after the meeting, the quote and pricing he offered were fair and put down a deposit. We never felt pressured to proceed, and we were provided all information we requested: evidence of proper licensing, insurance, a fully complete legal contract, etc. When the job began, the workers were as punctual as Eric was on day one, and were courteous. We also found the crew to be careful and detailed to do the job right. We never felt uncomfortable with them working in our home, and they were flexible on timing and agreed to some minor tweaks and changes to the project as the need arose. Thanks for doing a nice job!
