Back in October 2014, my boyfriend finished hiking the ENITRE Appalachian Trail, which stretches close to 3,000 miles from Maine to Georgia. (Holy crap, right?) His sister and I planned a trip to surprise him at the end of the trail, so we drove down from Virginia to Georgia the day before. Apparently, I was a LITTLE too pumped and anxious to get there, and ended up getting pulled in Brunswick County, VA for going 86/70. YIKES, PEOPLE. I got pulled over by a state trooper in a Highway Safety Corridor on 95 S (right outside downtown Richmond), and got a ticket for 74/55 back in April 2013, with a court date scheduled for June 2013. I am currently in grad school full-time, I'm employed, and I have an 18 hr internship that I have to go to every week! Needless to say, there was no way that I would afford (both in time and in money) to take off and spend a day in RIC traffic court. I was stressed out to the max and didn't know what to do. Absolutely the best. Had a reckless driving ticket on 64. While driving a 15 year old Jeep, the very elementary on board alert system started beeping like crazy and giving out cryptic messages about the tires. I wanted to discern what was going on and deliberately maintained what I considered a clear, safe zone away from any other cars. I turned the thing off after cutting my eyes back and forth to it and the road, lasting a minute at the most. Of course there had to be a trooper who clocked me going 80. The limit was 65, I thought it was 70 because I was 30 miles from home, and the highway turned to 70 a mile and a half further down the road. He wasn't interested in why I was driving the way I did. Not that I'm perfect and have never deliberately gone fast, I just had no intention at all this occasion. And of course in Virginia anything over 80 is automatically reckless driving which is a misdemeanor, a permanent record, you can lose your license, insurance, goes on every job/insurance / credit application for the rest of my life, etc. I had been to traffic court once for doing a u-turn - when there was no sign displayed so it was thrown out- but I saw then that the judge was pretty much a hanging judge and threw the maximum at every person. So keep that in mind next time you drive through Henrico county. I was shocked at the possible consequences of the ticket. I was very surprised by this attorney telling me that I had a "96% chance " of her getting it dismissed. She delivered, and all I got was traffic school which I'll happily do faced with the alternatives. Her fee is reasonable considering the far-reaching ramifications. I did get an armload of form letters from lawyers but decided to trust actual reviews and I'm glad that I did. read more

Regarding my interaction with Christina Pendleton and Associates I have nothing but positive things to say. I knock off one star because I cannot believe they are innocent in supporting this outrageous revenue enhancement scam in the State of Virginia but since I fell prey to it their assistance was professional, straightforward and resulting in essentially my choice of Defective Equipment if I take a class (no points no insurance impact) or Improper Control/Driving if I don't take the class with points but no Class 1 misdemeanor for Reckless Driving (OUTRAGEOUS!). The outcome is what they said would likely happen and what an internet scan of what other people reported as their outcomes in Wythe County. So praise done outrage must be expressed. My need for their assistance was a result of a trip from Illinois to the Outer Banks. This fine resulted in an immediate loss of tourist revenue during my return home since I refused to use the most efficient route through VA and stuck to NC/TN/KY to get home to Illinois. This cost the businesses in the state at least one hotel stay, two meals and more than one tank of gas. Not only that but having been a regular visitor to VA in the past they will not see me again and I intend to inform everyone I know of this nasty scam. In no way was I behaving recklessly. If they at least informed folks as they entered the state that 11 over the posted limit (where 70mph) could net you a reckless driving charge then perhaps I could offer a mea culpa but they don't even do that. It is a simple rip off where the only folks that benefit, as far as I can see, are attorney's that represent offenders for whom the expense of returning to the court date makes no sense (primarily out of state folks). read more

I was at a loss- on my way home to Tennessee from Southwest Virginia I received a ticket for going 85 mph- which amounts to a class I misdemeanor charge of Reckless Driving. Within days I began receiving letters from attorneys offering to take my case and warning that failure to obtain legal representation could result in the suspension of my license, in a $2,500 fine or even jail time. After a week or two I took the accumulated stack of letters and began going through them. I came upon one brochure from a firm that offered to take my case for a $200 flat fee- based on my circumstances. I called the offices of Christina Pendleton and was immediately talking to a live person who took all of my information and gave me an estimate of the court fees and fines associated with disposing of the case. I sent in all the required documentation and receive consistent correspondence back from Ms. Pendleton's firm regarding my case and assuring me that they would handle things without my having to be in court. My case was continued for a couple of months- in the meantime I received a letter from the firm suggesting that I go ahead and enroll in a driver improvement program so that I could achieve the best possible outcome for my case. I did so and submitted my documentation and hoped for the best. This week I received a disposition letter from my court case stating that my charge had been completely dismissed. I owed some modest court costs and that was all. I could not have been happier with the legal services I received from Ms. Pendleton's offices. Similar to the other horror stories detailed in other reviews, my son was pulled over in Virginia traveling 81 in a 70 MPH zone while returning home from college in North Carolina. Though we had lived in Virginia for 30 years, I never realized that charge would come out as reckless driving and add points, and raise my insurance premium. Initially, we planned to go to court and spend the entire day in Emporia, VA. About three weeks before the court date I received material from Chistina Pendleton and her firm, clearly laying out the legal services they could provide. I was a bit skeptical but my initial contact allayed my fears. The legal assistant I spoke with clearly advised that for a low fee, Pendleton would most likely be able to argue for a lesser charge, known as "defective equipment", keep the fine reasonable and the points at zero. Things could not have been more smooth. After providing copies of my son's driving record, paying the $125 retainer fee and electronically signing an agreement, Pendleton represented us, updated us on the results and advised us on how to pay the fine. It was extremely efficient how everything was accomplished through email. Pendleton and her firm are clearly experts in the Southern VA traffic violation arena. A pleasant surprise was that the fine was reduced so that the total of the fine and court costs equaled the original fine amount. Pendleton saved us a lot of headaches and uncertainty. Yesterday was my court date. I had debated whether to contest the ticket myself or use an attorney to represent me. Had I represented myself, I would have had to drive from Baltimore, Md. to Emporia, Va. for a 9:00 scheduled trial. Since I am the nervous type and the commute time is 3:00 hours, I likely would have rented a hotel room the night before. I chose to select an attorney, since representing myself was a gamble and because it was costly in and of itself. I called Ms. Pendleton's office. In a brief exchange of information - that I had not argued with the police officer, that I had a clean record, etc. - I was told that the fee would be $99 and that the attorney would negotiate to reduce my original charge of "Reckless Driving" to "Defective Speedometer." (I was charged with driving 83 mph in a 70 mph zone. In Virginia, anything over 80 is deemed "reckless driving" and is a 3rd class felony!) The coordinator promised that I would be notified of the outcome within 3 days of the trial. I was actually notified the very next day, and, as hoped, my defective speedometer was cited. As a consequence, I have not been assessed points and I am not a felon. The fine is still high but less than I had feared. I am most grateful to the skills of the attorneys of Ms. Pendleton's practice. If you find yourself in the same predicament, I would encourage you to use Christina Pendleton and Associates. I would also encourage you to set your speedometer lower than 78, the speed at which I thought I had set mine, whenever you are in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Received a Reckless Driving and chose to use this company to represent me. Was told that the business operates entirely by email so that to keep a good record (which is true) but waited almost a day for an email response prior to my court date and never received one. They are easily contacted by phone and my stress was relieved when I finally called before end of business (one day prior to court) to confirm they had been receiving my information needed. Unfortunately, I was told that my charges would be reduced to an improper equipment leaving no points on my record. When I question how that would even be possible since the car I was ticketed in was almost new (and certainly did not have any improper equipment), I was given a short and un-fufilling answer that "the lawyers have a relationship and thats just how it works".... this was NOT the case. My 82 in a 70 was reduced to a speeding (which i could have easily done myself with a good record and only 12 over). Now I understand I signed paperwork saying they make no guarantees but, I am EXTREMELY disappointed that i was given such lackluster response when I brought up my concern about how this would actually be reduced to improper equipment. My paralegal Anna, was not rushed, but certainly did not take the extra time to make sure all of my questions were answered before explaining all information be emailed to me. I chose this company based off the fact that they had the most informative and well made mailed marketing strategy. I will not use this company again. My name is Mohammed Donzo and I received my first speeding ticket since arrival in the United States in 2004 on February 3, 2013 in the state of Virginia. During my recent family vacation driving from NY to FL for our Disney vacation. I was pulled over in "The Lovers State" Virginia for Speeding, officer claimed I was going 73/55 mph work zone. September 8, 2015-- I was returning to Western NY where I currently resided, and while getting through southern Virginia (20 minutes north of the NC/VA border) I was stopped by the VA highway-men...err I mean...highway patrol. I was charged with speeding in excess of 80mph. At home I received a dozen or so attorney advertisement letters for which I was grateful. I read through each one. At the beginning of July in. 2014 whilst traveling to Florida, I was stopped by a sheriff who informed me that my speed was 86miles an hour at a 70mile an hour limit. I received a summons for driving recklessly which carries a maximum fine of 2,500 usd, and/or 12months imprisonment. Christina Pendleton & Associates along with several other legal practices contacted me and after review, I decided to go with this firm and spoke to them about my situation. I paid the small fee amounting to 200 dollars and they explained to me what I should do. I carried out their instructions to the letter and then waited for my case, to appear before the judge. To my absolute amazement, after the case(on the 12th of September) I contacted the lawyer dealing with my case, Jason, and he informed me that my charge had been reduced to defective equipment, and I had been fined 100 dollars with 61 dollars cost.
