We had stayed the night in the room above, and were thrilled to stay at a very nice Airbnb with a coffee shop just below. The owner is nice, and gave us a slight discount for staying guests. I appreciated her hospitality, but as I give reviews on here about ambiance, service and food, I can't lie. While staying here, I learned that she will be remodeling the place, and hopefully when she does she considers a bit more comfortable seating rather than just the stools up against the wall, with no outlets to plug into either. There wasn't many tables available either, so this will need to be addressed. The food, besides the coffee, there was only breakfast sandwiches (already made), how nice and convenient, right? But with an exception, they were on lightly toasted Texas toast, with slightly scrambled wet eggs, and double sausage with American cheese. All of this sandwich wrapped in an aluminum foil, and placed in a warmer for the guest to grab it and eat it. As you can imagine it was one warm and gooey mess. I didn't take a picture of the sandwich, but I can tell you that as I chewed it the bread stuck to the roof of my mouth. I did order a berry turnover of sorts, but it seemed that it was just slightly baked with very little golden brown. Ultimately, this was a place of mere convenience for us, but I wouldn't have wanted to have driven from I-70 all the way into Blackwater for this breakfast.

I heard more about the drinking and dating habits of the people in the town of Booneville than I cared to during my visit. The room was rather stuffy and crowded with too much going on and the counter was crowded with things so much so that it was unclear where to stand to place your order. When you did step up to the baristas station to order then you were in the way of the restroom traffic and that of the staff delivering food and constantly being ushered to move. The biscuits and gravy were fine, but not great. The raspberry latte was okay. Personally, when I'm sitting in a cafe to dine in, I really appreciate a mug rather than a disposable to go cup. Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile by Maggie, their barista for the day. She was very patient and attentive as I made small talk with her, stalling as I decided what to order. I asked what the specials were, as their is a chalkboard on the counter that reads "Barista Favorites", a list of specialty custom drinks made by each individual barista. Hers was the "cinnamon toast crunch latte" consisting of their espresso beans from Colombia, brown sugar syrup, and another secret ingredient I'll have to inquire for the next time I come. It was perfectly foamed and delicious to the last drop. She even popped over to ask how I liked it, hence the 'charm of a hole-in-the-wall'. I see why this place is so loved, and definitely plan to come back again. The food is popular here as well, but I haven't tried it. They have a selection of breakfast sandwiches that are made with a panini machine. Be sure to come before 1pm, because they shut it down for closing around then.
