small annual festival. bbq cookoff, mixed drink competitions, biker rally, dance.... and then…read morethere's the wild hog catchin'. the little kids just "touch the hog": a buncha cute little ones scurry around the arena trying to touch a wild piglet let loose, running scared....and then there's the catchin': teams of 2 are tasked to catch a wild hog, get it in a burlap sack, and drag it across a line. it's definitely worth the $7 adult admission to watch seasoned teams take down a crazed hog...and even more entertaining to watch first timers who hadn't thought the whole thing through. feral hogs terrify me. i cried with laughter when 2 girls bolted into the arena, ready for action...then turned tail and ran squealing, climbing the fence when they got a look at their opponent up close. the winners get belt buckles and bragging rights and Bandera county library cleans up. the bbq plates for sale are ok (not great). the beer's $3 per ice-cold can. the vendors and "rides" are meager, but it's a good excuse to take a drive out of town on a nice spring day. and the t-shirts are kinda hilarious. (what t-shirt wearer doesn't wanna sport "Wild Hog Explosion"??)

Then as you walk deeper into the property there is a barn that has some museum-esque signs and explanations of the items inside. There was a tractor parade, of some kind, when we were there so it was loud, and a lot of tractors for the kids to watch driving around. All in all, it took 20 minutes to see most of it. There's a large parking lot so parking wasn't too bad.

We did have to take note that there were a few hornet's nests among the hidden areas of the old equipment too.

It's pretty much a straight drive. It quite a ways down the road but just keep going you'll get there. The owners were so friendly. It's really refreshing when the owners come over to your table and really talk to you. They asked us how we heard out their restaurant, where were we from, gave us food recommendations, and were so sweet. Everything served is 100% made from scratch including their famous sourdough bread. The eggs are from their own chickens and the bacon & sausage comes from their own pigs and it was a just fabulous!!! You have to order the bacon...to die for!! I never really order anything to drink besides OJ at breakfast but for some reason I decided to try their grapefruit juice. OMG!!! I've never in my life had anything like that juice!! It was some special type of grapefruit but I can't remember the name of them. It was fresh squeezed & unbelievable. I could've just had a few more glasses of that and been happy lol. It was a deep yellowy-orange, almost the color of OJ. My hubby & I ordered almost the same thing, french toast (made from their homemade sourdough bread), topped with fresh fruit, 2 eggs (mine scrambled, his over easy), I had bacon, he had the sausage crumbles. Holy Moly!!! Just deliciousness all around!!! We bought a round loaf of jalapeño cheddar sourdough to take home and not only was it delicious but it was enormous! If I could make just one suggestion it would be: I did not like the restroom situation. There is only 1 restroom, which is perfectly fine, but there are 2 stalls inside. While I was in 1 stall a man came in and was using the stall next to me. I felt very uncomfortable. Maybe put a lock on the main door so that nobody else can come inside while you're in there??? But other than that we had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend going there if you love great food. Next time we'd like to try lunch or dinner. Directions on the web appear to be accurate. When looking it up online, make sure you use the current address, 715 Main Street. Otherwise, you may get the old address, 702 TX-16. Simply take Route 16N to Bandera. When 16N meets Main St. in Bandera, turn right and go about five blocks. The venue isn't marked so you'll have to look for it by address, which is 715 Main St. That will be on the left side of the road. It's actually in the Best Western Motel. Load-In: We love this venue and the crowd is excellent. However, load-in ranks among the more difficult clubs. There are no tandem parking spots, so if you have a truck and trailer, you'll have to park horizontally across multiple parking spaces. If you're lucky, there will be sufficient empty spaces to allow you to park directly in front of the entrance. If not, you'll have to park along one of the side streets like Oak Street. You'll want to have some sort of cart to move your gear because there's a long switch-back ramp leading from the street to the entrance. If you are fortunate enough to get to park directly in front of the club, you will have to move your vehicle before you start the gig. We parked at the end of Oak Street on the left side. Note that there is parking behind the motel, but none of it is tandem. Stage: The stage is about six inches high and is about 8 feet deep and perhaps 12 feet wide. For some unfathomable reason, about a third of the stage on stage left has been sacrificed for a ramp leading from the floor to the stage level. Why you would need a ramp for a six-inch high stage escapes me. I'd much rather have the additional stage real estate than a useless ramp. But in spite of the tiny stage we managed to get the drums, the PA racks, the bassist and the guitar player on the stage. The PA stacks and monitors we set on the floor in front of the stage. I imagine any band with more than three pieces would have some difficulty fitting on the stage. Lighting: The venue does have a few stage lights. These will probably give you enough illumination at night to see what you're doing, but I suspect you'll want to use your own lights since you have no control over the venue's lights and they're not very atmospheric. Sound System: The club does have two small speakers suspended from the ceiling above the stage. Not sure if these are plugged into some sort of PA system, but we used our own PA since the ceiling speakers are much too small for a classic rock band. They would be fine for a single or duo acoustic act. Acoustics are about average. We noticed no serious echo or feedback issues. There were no problematic resonances. Layout: This is a very small venue and the band faces directly toward the bar, which is placed against the opposite wall, so you will want to watch your volume. The room is essentially a rectangle. Volume: We were able to bring our volume up to what we considered a comfortable level for a classic rock band with no issues. Comfort: The room has good air conditioning but the venue likes to leave the two front doors open to the outside so that people lounging in front of the club can hear the music. This reduces the effectiveness of the A/C as well as raising the humidity in the club to somewhat uncomfortable levels. Don't know if they continue this practice into the winter months. Miscellaneous: We broadcasted this gig via Facebook Live and had no trouble maintaining an Internet connection during the broadcast. Parking: As long as you're not trying to park a tandem unit, parking isn't much of a problem. However, as we mentioned above, tandem parking is non-existent. Venue Management: Pleasant and easy to work with. They're good people and we look forward to our next gig here. Overall: We had a very good gig. The crowd was enthusiastic and responsive. We are excited about the prospect of returning for another engagement.

First off, let me state the positive things about this play. There were some humorous and colorful…read morescenes and overall it was a pleasant atmosphere. Also, there was a positive, recurring theme of encouraging people to dream. However, I absolutely cannot recommend this play for the following reasons. 1) While I fully appreciate artistic license, there were several inconsistencies between the play and the real story. One of these had to with Joseph and Potiphar's wife. It was concerning to me that they showed Potiphar's wife up on Joseph's lap straddling him face to face in a chair in a very compromising position. Then again on the top of the stage, they showed Potiphar's wife mounting Joseph in a sexual position, while he laid there "helplessly." In fact, several times throughout the play they emphasized sexuality way more than they needed to. I don't need to see women, especially elderly women, in skimpy outfits in the story Joseph. In the real story, Joseph flees the situation and Potiphar's wife grabs his coat. Then, Potiphar comes home and his wife tells him what happened. In the play, Potiphar "walks in on them" while they are in a compromising position. I use the word compromising quite liberally. It was embarrassing to be sitting in the audience with my twelve and six year-old kids. I never would have brought them to the play if I knew they would be showing what they did. 2) While there were plenty of men and women in the play, I do not understand why women have to be dressed up as men and men dressed up as women. In fact one man had very heavy makeup on, was in high heels and some sort of swimsuit/leotard outfit, and had what appeared to be fake breasts. Overall, I left feeling unimpressed. The acting was decent, the singing subpar, and the overt sexuality over-the-top.

The bar stations are spread out around the venue, so the lines never seemed too bad. They also let you come and go with a wristband, which is convenient.
