Driving down I-10 it's hard to miss the massive empty cross. Recommend stopping at the gift shop before heading up. They provide a map and you can buy a sharpie for the rocks. Awesome statues with meaningful stories, verses all along the walkway, and a memorial to those lost in the flood last year. They have areas with rocks you can decorate but you'll have to bring your own markers unless you stop at the gift shop first. read more

Such peace in this place! I love this scripture/sculpture garden with rows of prayer rocks and beautiful walkways and so many quiet corners. You can feel all the love from the prayers and well wishes of people who have left a rock here. I especially loved the "Don't give up" and "Love conquers all" rocks. The white horse placed perfectly under the giant cross was just breath taking! It made me think of the scripture of the King returning on a white horse called "Faithful and True." On one of the pathways, I could hear two guys praying and one was crying tears of joy. I walked a bit further and saw many of the beautiful names of God including one of my favorite El Shaddai (also a beautiful song). On another wall were lists of events and volunteer opportunities. On another path I found a shaded spot with something called "the Hope statue". It was Jesus sitting and listening to a lady which may have been the lady by the well who felt alone and ostracized until Jesus showed her how He really sees her and taught her about the living water.In these stressful ,busy times it feels good to sit still in a beautiful place like this and really be present. I will definitely check into donating to this spot and getting out this way more often. read more

This sculpture garden is a must-see for people of faith and those who aren't. The park is situated off the path along a stretch of highway in Kerrville, which isn't known for much other than its military retirement community. Beautifully landscaped area with beautiful sculptures that share the message of the gospel. My friend and I were fortunate to meet a chaplain shared interesting facts about the sculpture garden, including a CD with additional info. What an awesome place to check out. read more

Wonderful place to not only be blessed but also learn about who our true loving God is. As you look up at the cross you will see that scripture is engraved in the stone by your feet in Spanish, English and german. As you walk in the shape of the cross, the scripture will take you on a journey. Use this time to remove yourself from our world and connect with your maker. Beautiful even if you don't consider yourself very spiritual. It's on a hill with a view of the whole town from the top. Drive on up (be careful to watch signs for the one ways) and park. I would says is moderately strenuous walk from car to the sculptures but it's a short walk so anyone who might have difficulties just go slow but you can do it. There is handicapped parking also that helps. There is several sections of items to view with nice paved stones around the whole area. Looks like they are adding to it also so it's evolving over time to be bigger (more items). Unique thing for the Kerrville town for sure! read more

Hallelujah! This Christian rock and sculpture garden is a nice place to check out some holy views! This free garden sits atop one of the highest hills in all of Kerr County. Driving up the hill takes some considerable effort, but once atop the hill, you can see for miles and miles! On the peak of the hill, you'll find a gigantic empty cross made out of steel planted in the rock. The area around the cross is also laid out like a cross, with sculptures at each end of the cross. The other sculptures are made of bronze and look quite sharp against the backdrop of the cross and the Texas Hill Country! It's kind of amazing that every rock on the property has been sponsored like Nascar cars. The donors' names are etched into the side of the large limestone bricks that surround the walking paths. On smaller rocks, people have brought stones that they have marked on with their prayers or thoughts. I guess this place was picked because it's on a high point overlooking a city, and it's equidistant between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and on the same latitude as Israel. Why not? Parking is easy once you get to the top, and there's lots of great landscaping and native plants to check out. They've really done a great job of making sure that the place is picked up and landscaped attractively. It's a peaceful place to take in the sights or have a rest from driving on I-10. read more

A Christian cross made of steel - it sits on a hilltop overlooking I-10 and Kerrville. The spot is no coincidence as this particular place was marked as the halfway point between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and is at the same latitiude as Isreal. It weighs 70 tons and is exactly 70'7" tall. Mind you, I've heard of stories that the neighbors within the vicinity of the cross weren't too happy though. Something about the power lines and what have you. The area has a great view and when I came here late last year, they (The Coming King Foundation) were still in the middle of situating the garden that is to be placed in the area with the cross. When (and if) you come to the cross, there is a wall that seperates the the cross from the rest of the property around it - at the time I went, my partner in crime and I managed to go around it (the wall). I believe they may set up certain times and days that acess to the cross will be available; however, I'm not sure as to when that information will be announced. There is no exact address - just Benson Drive. If you get confused, just keep driving to the top. :) read more

I struggle with my faith, but oh the emotional conviction when I hear music, sermons, and prayers or see things like this. Not sure if I categorize myself as religious but I love this prayer garden. Made me wish my grandmother was here to see it with me, but at least I was with my dad and he seemed to love it as much as she would have. (I think if I wasn't afraid to have to answer to a higher power upon my death, I would most definitely be a horrid person) If you visit as a pilgrimage may it be annual, weekly, occasionally or just once, you won't be disappointed. People were deep in prayer and left beautiful heartfelt prayers written on rocks around the garden near the cross. Don't write on the tables or anywhere else, just use the rocks. They provide markers near the empty cross on tables with reading material you are welcome to take if you'd like. Even if you are not a person of faith, anyone for the desire to see art, experience new things, or be knowledgeable and well-rounded will appreciate this beautiful and peaceful garden. The views of Kerrville are gorgeous; you can see for miles at the top of the hill, I mean if you stop to take it all in. When the weather is nice and you are fit you can park at the bottom and hike up, it was the plan but I got lazy so we cruised to the top and they have designated and are plentiful in parking areas. It's easy to get to; right off the highway and you can see if from a ways. The entrance at the bottom of the hill has the bust of "The Coming King". Don't drive straight to the cross at the top there's more to see here. "It Is Finished" are three nails or spikes, the middle one points to the cross, also "Mary, Mother of Jesus", reflecting on the crucifixion and holding the crown of thorns. Don't miss the "Twelve Stones", they are tucked away in a corner. Now drive or walk to the top, for the last seven works of art done by the artist, Max Greiner Jr. Best things in life are Free. read more

I'm not religious person, but I have to say this park is beautifully done. It is set on top of the hills overseeing the hill country and I-10. The park is pretty big, parking is plenty, the view is amazing and you can write your prayer on the rocks. I would suggest to get some BBQ from Calbob down the street or Mary's Taco in Kerrville downtown,and enjoy the food and view from top of the hill (just make sure you clean up after yourself) read more

This is a free place and it's awesome if you ask me. I mean why should you give less than five stars to a place that is free to visit and that is just beautiful? I was there a couple of times and ones took a drone video. In case you want to see it you just have to ask me and I will post it here. If you don't want to see that place from the air just don't worry about it. But you really should check it out when you have the time. And the people that complain about no place to sit, they have stone walls you can sit on and also have plenty of sitting off the beaten path. read more

The Empty Cross would have been a nice place had we not gone on a day of dedication and completion of one of the statues. There were tons of people, food, and music. I don't mind the number of people, the food smelled good even though we had already eaten, but the music... Oh my. As a person who appreciates good Christian music, the music was terrible. The musicians were off key and it took away from the ambiance because I kept cringing when they hit an off note. Along with the chaotic music, the guy on the loudspeaker feeding the crowd bullcrap about angel dust, orbs at night around the cross and some mist that appears, was a bit over the top. I still give it a four star because the idea is a great one of reverence and was wonderfully planned and thought out. They have planted a lot of shade trees and are making it look really nice. I say it still looks unfinished. There are concrete bases where it looks like someday they will add more statues. I would like to go back when there isn't a dedication going on and can show my reverence for the empty cross and what it means to me and my faith. read more

Beautiful park! We have driven by the cross many times and finally stopped in. We have been twice now. Once during daylight and once at night. The daytime visit was as serene as I would have liked. There were children running around, throwing rocks, and sword fighting. The nighttime visit was much more serene and relaxing. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the advertising. I understand that it is there based on donations but businesses that want to contribute should be placed on a sign as you are entering and not on "memorial markers" lining the way to the cross. As someone that has lost both parents I thought it would be nice to donate money for a marker in their memory but the advertising that is allowed ruins that. read more

There is a rock prayer garden that you can write your prayer on a rock and leave it in the garden, amazing idea. They have a covered area which provides, free if you need one, bibles. Guests who go to this attraction are able to witness the many prayers that guests before them have laid out on the prayer stones and have the option to write their own prayer down to leave behind.
