I am a perfectionist myself and hard to impress, but Bob was amazing. We found Bob simply from taking his business card at a tile store in Norwood (Buddy's Discount Tile). The first time I called him on a Sunday morning, he answered right away and scheduled to come by the next night. He showed up right on time, gave a thorough explanation of what we could/couldn't do on our floor, and provided a written estimate on the spot. The price was reasonable and Bob said we could save some money if we pulled up most of the floor and handled uninstallation/re-installation of our appliances (stove & dishwasher). I was happy to do the labor there and it saved us several hundred dollars. Bob scheduled to come and start the work at the end of the week on Friday, and said it would be a 2-day job. My wife and I ripped up the old pine floor over the next few days with some tools Bob was kind enough to lend us! (Professional crow bar really makes a difference!) Bob said he'd arrive at 9 AM Friday morning to start, and boy did he literally arrive on time, like 9:00 on the absolute dot. He got right to work finishing up the floor removal we couldn't do, then prepping the floor to install a subfloor. He arrived right on time Saturday morning--actually a little too early as he was blocking my wife's car in the driveway!--and finished up the work by early afternoon. He is extremely detail oriented and was very particular about ensuring the tiles were laid down perfectly. He also suggested we tile the bottom of our cabinets (i.e. over the existing white pine) which we weren't too sure about, but it looked awseome when done... like they're just floating above the floor. In addition, we needed a couple of stairs to our basement replaced--they were seriously cracked--so he offered to fix them. His assistant picked up some new pine (I paid them back, of course) and he installed them in a jiffy. Plus our basement door was not closing properly and he offered to fix that as well. He did both these fixes unrelated to the floor project free of charge. The floor came out great and looks amazing. All in all it was an absolute pleasure to work with Bob; I would absolutely recommend him; and absolutely hire him again in the future. Bob is much more than a "tile guy" -- he is a very experienced and skilled general contractor and all around great guy.

Two weeks ago, to my utter despair, the little bugger shocked me; intervention was required. Enter Appleton Antique Lighting. It's a bit small, and Route 9 is a bit crazy, so keep your eyes peeled. The gent going through bills off to the side was a bit brusque, but the lady at the register was very sweet. They quoted an *extremely* reasonable price for the fix. They said it might take two weeks, but they got it done in one. And my lamp is back to its healthy, non-shocking ways. Go there. And bring your poor, your tired, your huddled lamps, yearning to be fixed.

Finally it dawned on me that there's people out there who fix these things - I took it to Appleton, and the rest is history. They are incredibly nice there, and while they said it would take a few days to fix, it turned out they were able to sneak it in between larger projects and the lamp got repaired by the next day. Not bad! Basically, I would say that they were very knowledgeable, extremely welcoming and affable people with excellent customer service, and as far as I can tell, they charged a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again as they certainly have earned a repeat customer (just hoping that I won't have any more broken lamps, haha).

As usual, fantastic service! I've hired Steve and his crew a couple of times now. I was having…read moreissues with hard wired smoke detectors and Hassett Electrical had only tied one new one into the house. I reached out to Steve at Hassett, who immediately offered to drive out and take a look. Rather than have them drive 45 minutes for something so small, I tried to see if it could be fixed remotely. Steve offered his suggestions and responded promptly to my text messages. When it was determined that the situation needed professional eyes, Steve did not hesitate to schedule a Saturday service call. Hassett showed up on time, with notice when they were 30 minutes away. Naturally, none of the detectors were malfunctioning and randomly beeping like they did all week. Hassett checked everything out, replaced the new smoke/carbon monoxide detector, fixed two other small electrical concerns, and even stayed an extra 1/2 hour to make sure the detectors were okay before driving another 45 minutes home. Steve also reassured me that a weird double outlet wouldn't be a building code issue that could jeopardize the sale of the house. I was only charged for a service call. Hassett stands by their work and if there are any questions, will take the time to patiently investigate. Rates are comparable, the guys are friendly, and as Master Electricians they really know their stuff. Even if they were to go insane and hike their rates up, I would still hire them. I don't trust anyone else with the electrical safety of my home and you shouldn't either. I was lucky to find them as a Home Depot Pro, not through Yelp, Google, or other review sites. When originally receiving work estimates, review site electricians fell short. Home run for Home Depot lining up a great pro!
