I was sad to see Porta potties there vs the bathrooms being open... But I guess that's how it goes these days? The bad Porta pottie was in bad shape Porta potties don't have sanitizer in them ... Definitely had serious bugs in them.... Unfortunate Will try to get out here again sometime. If only the parks department sent someone out weekly this could be a nice area! The walk around the park is nice and flat and there are even distance markers so you know how far you've gone. There are several ares with many picnic tables. There are two playground areas for kids and several wide open fields. These fields would be great for getting together with friends and playing ultimate, kickball, or soccer if they were not full of stickers that will cover your socks and shoes if you walk through them. Overall, if you need a good afternoon walk or a shaded playground for the kids, I would recommend this park.

Sometimes trees are nice, but I like that this park has many open expanses for kids to run and play in a very safe space. Softball, basketball and soccer areas are here also - though I don't know much about reserving them or anything. There are a few different playground areas, and admittedly, these could use some updating, but I think there are lots of places with splash pads and new playground equipment - what Eldon Lyon provides is room, and lots of it. In a time when parents feel they can't just let their kids roam free in the neighborhoods and the creek beds of our youth, this park helps address that need. I love the two mile trail that loops around and sometimes through the entire park, the nice picnic areas, and people watching.

There were several unlabeled smaller trails that bring you to the waters edge and to some cute tree abodes. Not a lot of wildlife this time of year but I am excited to see it in a different season of life. There are benches in the parking lot positioned perfectly to witness an Oklahoma sunset. That being said, I am taking off a star because I'm pretty sure we witness a human being pooping just off of the main path on our way back to the car...

It hasn't rained for a week, so there was nothing flooded to the point of being sloppy or impassable. - Good shade canopy for most of the trail. Some of it hangs down low, which is mildly annoying. There is also some tall grass and plant life growing along the trail that you will have to dodge. - Nice shaded bench area which is perfect for a post-run cool down.
