Even if it's smaller than other Christmas Tree Stores, and has narrower aisles, it's still a Christmas Tree Store with all the eclectic awesomeness and unexpected bargains we've been used to . Where else can you buy a marked down box of Matzo Ball mix for sixteen cents? Or a big bag of beef jerky for three bucks? Or a booze flask in the shape of roll-on deodorant? We wandered through the store grabbing a little of this and a little of that (some of the K Cup coffees were very good deals). We filled two bags of goodies and the most we paid for anything was $8 for a 24-count of Caramel Apple coffees. Don't you just love a bargain! I'm all about bargains and the Christmas Tree Shops has plenty of CHEAP COLORFUL JUNK to choose from, mostly Made in China. This store from the outside looks like a very festive holiday village and inside, this store has a "little bit of a lot of things" including home decor, housewares, kitchen items, patio furniture, wicker furniture, seasonal items, gourmet food, snacks, books, toys, games, baskets, planters, and many other miscellaneous items. I shopped at this location quite a bit when I lived in Metrowest back in the early 2000s, before the Natick store opened. The Christmas Tree Shops was my destination for discounted holiday decor, ornaments, drink cups, plates, and snack food. Recently, I picked up some very decorative tin trays for $1.29 each, some scrapbooks for $3.99 and a classic wood American flag for my wall for $4.99. There are lots of other impulse items in stock, you never know what you're gonna find, so do choose carefully when shopping here. read more

This Xmas tree shop was actually a bit smaller than I expected it to be, but it was still very well stocked. My friend and I stopped in and were very impressed with the unique snack and coffee sections, I found a s'mores coffee pod pack that is scrumptious and I've never had before. The spices section was also impressive and I bought $50 worth of 4th of July decorations. If you're looking for patriotic string lights, this is def the place to go. The huge rugs they sell here too were so cool looking and now I want to re-do my house with a nautical theme just to buy them. read more

This little store can get really packed! They always have really great seasonal stuff on sale. You can get really cheap yard and pool stuff here in the summer along with sunscreen. During busy times the store can be an absolute disaster. Some things are really hard to find and end up being in really random places. They have everything from lawn ornaments to makeup to pans. This store chain has some very good brands (beware of junk and low-quality items that are intermixed....they break or let u down). go for the good stuff. They have great books, kitchen items, misc. housewares like picture frames, lamps, curtains etc. you know, the "secondary" stuff. I personally would not recommend buying anything like furniture there unless you are looking for Ikea-"quality", or less. I prefer really high quality stuff (even if I have to buy it on craigs...) than laminate or particle-board junk. CTS also has great cards, gift bags and sometimes decent kids' toys. Also, a lot of people I know have ordered more of an item such as a candle holder or something similar, that was in stock and that worked out easily. If you go for an advertised item from their flyer, prepare to be disappointed. I went for the 16 pack of Energizer Max AA batteries that were in their flyer for $7.99 and they were "SOLD OUT". They DID have 4 packs for $2.49. This is NOT an isolated occurrence, but it got you in the door. They probably had a few, but not enough for demand. Christmas Tree Slop Came here at night, the place was quiet. Needed an extra buck, so went digging in the coin-filled fountain. It went well until an employee spotted me, she was crusty and reminded me of a horrid schoolteacher. I tried to hide from her, but she said "I can still see you" in a stiff, toneless voice. I argued with her but she rounded up the manager who was one of those people that made me think, were they ever a kid once? He demanded me to get out of the fountain and did not listen to my words of wisdom when it came to naming the store. I finally got out and made a run for it when he said he was going to call the police. So, a decent store unless you try digging for cash in the fountain. read more

This chain has gone down and is so different than it used to be. Its obvious that its owned by Bed Bath and Beyond . The prices are much higher than they used to be , the merchandise is more expensive , however the quality isn't . I used to enjoy grabbing cheap little things for different holidays, now the little things are priced the same as TJMaxx, who has better quality and selection. I will say its cleaner and better organized but the hunt and the fun finds part of it are gone read more

First time I shopped at a Christmas Tree Shop, my boys were babies and I totally fell in love with the one down in Orleans at the Cape. It was a place to go to get out of the house when it rained and you know what it's like with 2 very active boys, parents in law and a very crazed mom and rain. uggggh So off to CTS we go and the boys went directly to the toys and they knew they would always get something because the prices are amazing. Hubby went directly to the food and I went to everything else. I couldn't get enough and I couldn't look at enough. CTS is in a category all by itself. Yes things are less expensive and yes you don't need half of it but damnit!! you feel sooo good when you leave! Depending on the season you can get just about anything for the yard, house or family. Frames, kitchenware, yard decorations, deck funstuff like lights and shit. Writing all of this makes me want to go there!!!! Thank God there's one right in Shrewsbury for me! read more

My partner and I just got a beautiful antique dining table, but lacked any placemats or tablecloths to protect it. So off to CTS I went. They sell a lot of junk, but if you know what you're looking for, you can find some good items at good prices. I ended up getting some beautiful fabric placemats for $1.50 each. If you have time to poke around, you'll be able to find some gems. I ended up picking up a bunch of vegan cleaning supplies for cheap, plus whole wheat pastry flour, some draft guards, and curtain rods (the fancy decorative kind that are usually $14+ each. I got them for $5.) Sure there is a lot of junk, but even that can be fun. I'll occasionally pick up hokey, kitchy gifts while I'm here- just cheap little things that my friends will get a laugh out of. I remember a while ago I ended up buying some string lights that were shaped like lobsters- they were poorly made and kitchy as hell, but my partner (who thinks lobsters are the coolest animals on the planet) got a kick out of them. We still have them, and plan on using them on our Christmas tree this year, if only for the ridiculousness factor. read more

Manager Diana Garcia has no customer service training. Shopping to day, she told us to "shut up or get out of her store". We went to do a simple exchange, and refuse to take us until she was done with everyone on line. Does she have a problem with color people shopping at this store? all behavior indicate such. I remember when the Christmas Tree Shops not only offered low prices but were beautifully ,well maintained buildings inside and out. Shiny floors and freshly painted walls and trims adorned each store The stores were divided into well defined departments with creative merchandise display. This Shrewsbury Store had a large carpeted lamp department, gift basket department, etc. One felt as if you were shopping in an off price gift shop ( like Pier One or Marshall's minus the apparel) aimed at both tourist and local alike. Visually appealing displays made the products seem as if they were inexpensive treasures. This particular store even had a large welcoming lobby with a fountain etc. which was unique to this chain. Fast forward 20 years, what happen? The place building is worn looking, floors not maintained, items are just crammed on shelves, thrown in endless bins, or left in open card board boxes for customers to peruse. Other items spill over in piles in what was once a well kept and inviting lobby, now minus a water fountain. One poster said the store feels like a flea market. I thought that on my last visit. Others may feel its just about getting a bargain, yet at one time you could both shop in a very nice environment and save money at this store. This review is not a reflection of the the local staff since most, if not all Christmas Tree Shops are turning into this format. The newly opened local Job Lot was in better shape. read more
