The most expensive place to buy your tree, but their trees are the best, obviously well tended to throughout the year. We've tried other places but keep coming back to Ellsworth. Although they provide saws if you want to cut your own, their helpful staff will cheerfully cut the tree for you, shake and bail it, and tie it to the roof of your car. If you put the tree in water as soon as you get home, a tree you buy the day after Thanksgiving will still be going well by New Years. They only accept cash, so bring plenty of it. read more

We have been going here for trees for years, and while their trees tended to be pricier than other places, the trees were nice and the staff friendly and helpful. This year was a shock, though. $180-$200 for a 7-foot Fraser Fir? and an additional #2 to shake and wrap? That is a bit much but since we were there we went ahead. Next year, though, we will need to find a different place. read more

This was our first year coming here right after Thanksgiving for a tree and we were thrilled with the experience! It was great for kids (daughters are 4 and 5) with the cozy barn with apple cider and seats for them to write a letter to Santa and the short walk to cut the tree made it easy and fun! read more

Came here on Saturday, 11/24/2012, the day after Black Friday. Place was busy, but not so much that we couldn't find parking quickly. Inside the barn, they have free hot and cold apple cider, along with animal crackers. This was a nice touch. They sold homemade wreaths and ornaments as well. Things were quite expensive. A plastic tree stand was being sold for about $22-$25. I got one at Home Depot for $13. The farm had Concolor Fir trees which were around $50 but had flimsy branches. The Fraser Fir trees seem to have stronger branches, but were about $90 to $100. A high price for a 6 or 7 foot tree. The staff was friendly. We eventually went to another cut-your-own farm that was selling trees of similar quality as the Fraser Fir trees, and all were $50. My advise to Ellsworth would be to lower their prices of some trees as it is very high in comparison with nearby farms. Merry Christmas! read more

Way, way, way too expensive. This place is relatively small, but has great looking trees (Mostly Fraser Firs which are our favorite). I get that they have 1-2 weeks to make money all year with relatively small inventory, but the prices are ridiculous. We were looking at a 6'-7' Fraser Fir and couldn't find a good looking tree to cut down ourselves for less than $130!! This price includes practically nothing. You find it, cut it, drag it to the shaker all yourself. They shake it for free, charge you an extra $1 to bail it (really?!) Then they trailer it down to the parking lot, which is at least free. Then you go into the beautiful barn to pay $3 to use their ATM, because they don't accept anything but cash, then they charge you tax at the register. So a $130 tree +$1 bailing + $3 ATM fee + tax= $142.19. Don't forget to get extra cash from the ATM to tip the guys in the parking lot to toss the tree on your roof and tie it up too. This is just insane that people actually pay this much, if not more. Most trees were in the $150-200+ range... You can get great trees with just as good of an experience at several other places nearby for 1/3rd of cost. Definitely pricey! By that I mean we got a 6 foot tall tree for about 100 for a Fraser Fir. Compared to most cheap lots where you pick a pre-cut tree that are around $30-$45 if you're on a budget check out one of those, or head to another farm for choose-and-cut/cut your own. The service was excellent from being routed into a parking spot, to getting our tree tagged and baled (costs a $1, most places offer this for free), to getting the tree loaded onto our car. Also they do provide free hacksaws to use, and if you ask for help they'll definitely help you trim the tree as well. We were looking at some trees in the back and one of staff came over and gave us some tips without us even asking him to come over, he was very observant which we definitely appreciated. Great atmosphere and experience for our first time cutting our own tree. We'll probably check out some other farms in the future for cheaper pricing however. read more

Very nice place, cleanly kept, man in the fields was very nice, The trees are ok nice full shape. The money they want for a tree in just way out my pocketbook. They started at $100.00 Dollars then went up from there. Seen 6 foot trees there for $200.00 Dollars. Then they charge you for the plastic mesh to pull the tree tight together. Maybe in another life I can afford to buy my tree there. Back to the Ashland Lions Club for me. There the money gets donated out to other charities. read more

Every year our family loves going to Ellsworth Tree Farm to pick out our Christmas tree and design our wreathes. My favorite part is that the tree is so fresh and they shake it out before bundling it and placing it on your car that it hardly leaves any needles behind in your home. Plus my daughter loves that she gets to pick all the ribbons and decorations on our wreathes (which cost about the same as buying them somewhere already made). Everyone is friendly and patient and they have Santa, cookies, and hot apple cider. read more

I would call this an upscale Christmas tree farm. Fantastic service - lots of guys asking if they can help you cut down/ pick out/ carry your tree - very friendly and helpful. Not very crowded when we went. Really nice barn/ gift shop where Santa was holding court and taking requests. Free hot cider. The pre-cut trees were very fresh. The other reason I call it upscale is because it is expensive. A 9 ft pre-cut tree was $90, and a 5 ft cut-your-own concolor fir was $70. As always, you get what you pay for. It was a fun and laid back experience for the family. We'll definitely be back. read more

Just tried buying 2 trees, and before we could even park the man working outside was just very rude to my father. My father simply said he didn't want to park in a small spot because he has a new larger vehicle... The man walked away and proceeded to call him a "Jackass" and that he could leave...
