It's our first time buying a tree and we had no idea what to look for, and the team here was helpful in explaining the differences in types of tree, the sizes, and upkeep. We were able to buy the tree and get the stand set up, and they wrapped it and helped us take it to our car. So far, it seems to be doing okay. There's some needle loss but I can mostly tell only by looking at our floor and the needle collection - the tree still looks healthy and robust. Good first time experience!

We didn't act right away, but kept the business card. A month or so later, we headed out to the nursery in Rutland. It was in the country & set back off the road, so at first we thought we might be in the wrong place. We found the parking lot & then bumped into Joe. We showed him pictures of our house and let him know what we wanted done. He gave us a tour of the nursery, and was at our home within a week to give us recommendations & a design plan. I know not a thing about plants, I often kill them just by looking at them. We had to put our trust in his knowledge & insight. The old trees & shrubs were pulled out using caution not to destroy our stone wall or foundation. The workers were polite, efficient, and respectful of our property. The new plantings went in at least 7 days earlier than promised. The result? Couldn't be happier. It's been about 2 months now, and I haven't killed the plants yet. When it bloomed in the spring of 2020 it was half dead. They told us it would correct itself in 5 years (which is incidentally outside their guarantee). But we wanted it replaced under their guarantee. We went back and forth for 6 months and now it is time to plant. I offered to pay half the cost of a new tree and they said they would give me a proposal. No proposal given and now they are unresponsive. I would avoid them for anything other than Christmas tree which they seem to be good at

You pay by the foot and it is cash or check only. They also sold wreaths, jams, and other things to get your household ready for the holidays. A friend stumbled across the website for this tree farm and let us in on his secret find. The farm apparently has been around for 20 years though it is new to us. The sign and entrance are not all that visible from the main street and Waze has the location off slightly, but after traveling down the winding drive you're treated to an expansive view of Christmas trees dotting a bucolic farm that abuts stabled horses and broad open fields. The owners are extremely accommodating and quite proud of the variety of trees they grow. Compared to the average tree farm, it does appear that Riverwind has a much broader variety including an interesting Turkish fir tree that is very full and composed of rich, deep green colored needles. My family and I had a lot of fun walking along the various fields including crossing a small river to reach the most remote areas of the farm. The trees are not on top of each other like at other farms and there are a variety of sizes available from as short as 5 feet to his tall is 15 feet. Only tagged trees are available for purchase and the prices weren't cheap but were by and large on par with other tree farms. The sales hut has handmade and manufactured Christmas ornaments. Homemade wreaths and greens are available as well. In addition there was free hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies for the kids. The staff have all-terrain vehicles available that I think could be used to help haul your tree if you are unable to use the hand wagons they provide. Saws are also supplied if you don't bring your own. The staff provide complementary tree trimming, shaking and netting and will bring your tree to your car. I'm not certain they'll actually secure it to your car though since I had brought my own straps and did it myself. The owners pay close attention to details with the netting being green and red in color as opposed to the standard orange. I almost regret writing this post as I figure the masses will learn of this great farm and we'll be on the hunt again next year for a new Christmas tree source. Finally, there were some ready cut trees available for those who can't find their ideal tree or don't wish to cut their own.

Although they provide saws if you want to cut your own, their helpful staff will cheerfully cut the tree for you, shake and bail it, and tie it to the roof of your car. If you put the tree in water as soon as you get home, a tree you buy the day after Thanksgiving will still be going well by New Years. They only accept cash, so bring plenty of it.
