My family and I after looking at their website decided to go look for a Christmas tree at Houde's. We had never been there before, it was close and seemed like a nice place. When we first pulled in it looked busy not much parking. When we got closer it was more like a junk yard than a tree farm. It was riddled with old tires, snowblowers and tractor parts. When I asked where they cut your own trees where I was blankly told "Anywhere we got like 30 acres" the trees were scarce and scattered among the property not much of a selection. The grounds were not well maintained and filled with thick vines,brush and pricker bushes. My mother in-law actually took quite the fall due to the amount of over growth! We walked around for a bit to find quite literally nothing! Then we made our way up front to see their selection of pre-cut trees only to find they get them from Canada, and charge double the price of the trees on their farm. Needless to say we will not be returning to Houde's anytime soon. We ended up leaving and going to Frommer's in Lancaster they had a beautiful selection of reasonably priced Christmas trees! read more

Meh, it was ok. A smaller selection of cut your own trees. Not a place to spend time at all, just pick up your tree and go. Not cheap either. Missing our days cutting down a tree for $25 or under. read more

Would not recommend. Not a good selection of trees and most of them had super prickly branches, not the variety we like. Plus side: Friendly staff and they wrap trees for you. No hot chocolate offered like other places and I got poison ivy on my arm from lying down under the tree to cut it ! Mowed poison ivy everywhere between the trees. We just didn't realize it until it was too late. We will not be returning to this tree farm. read more

I think this is where I'm going for the Christmas tree, from now on. There's cut your own, and buy precut. I cut my own, with Jen helping me out. They hand you a saw, and a little sled, and send you out to explore the HUGE property for a good tree. It took me maybe 5 minutes to find a great one, cut it down, and haul it back (which sort of surprised the help, but I knew what I was looking for) . There's plenty of good trees to pick from. Since it's on a sunny spot, you get really bushy growth on all sides of the tree, if you want it. They trim the trees up well, as they are growing, so they look pretty wonderful. Then they measure you, and you go inside to pay. They do wrap the tree in webbing, if you want it. I'm going to skip that in the future, as it catches on everything. Prices were reasonable, and my tree is one bushy mammerjammer. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience! It was a wee bit more expensive than buying the precut, but it should be a happy tree that doesn't shed all it's needles on me, which = awesome. When you pay $8.00 per foot, you should expect a premium Christmas tree. That is not even close to the case at Houde's The trees were ill shaped, many not even close to what one would consider a Charlie Beown Christmas Tree. The customer service was a joke. Before you go to find a fresh cut your own tree, do some thinking. At $8.00 a foot, and the average Christmas tree being 6 feet tall, you are going to spend $48.00. For that kind of money, how should your tree look? I saw many people at the farm. Many looked happy. Truly, it is a lot of fun going out to pick your tree. I also saw many people, generous enough to offer their coupon to me, because, they too did not find a tree worth cutting down. They did not find a tree with using a coupon for. Many people, that hopefully will back me up on my scathing review. I left HOUDE'S today without a tree. I drove 10 minutes down the road, spent less money, and found a great looking healthy tree, that looks great in my living room. I'm not sure if I would suggest going to the big box store instead of HOUDE'S, but there are some worth while charities with road side tree stands that I would go to before going to HOUDE'S. read more

Great place to cut your own tree. One of the few places that's open late in the season to do that. They have a little store where they sell accessories for the tree and there usually giving away hot cider and tiny candy canes. We come from Boston to cut our trees here. read more

Love that all staff are wearing masks. It was our first time at Houde's. For hearing that christmas trees were coming scarce they had plenty for us to choose between to make a selection from for those to cut down on your own. It was our first time that we would have to cut it down but Alex offered to cut if for us. He was so kind and very thankful for his help. I may of still been there not sure my daughter and I could of done it. They wrapped it up and Alex even put in inside the SUV for us (about a 6 footer). Then Mike was AWESOME. I was asking the lady at the window where you pay how to make sure the tree stand keeps the small trunked tree steady as I tend to always have an issue. Mike told me of taking blocks of wood. Asked if I had access to a 2x4 and I mentioned I did not. He went and cut four pieces for me and showed me how to put them on the trunk. Mike did not have to do that at all and his generosity of the offer was so kind. We tipped Alex for his cutting the tree down for us and loading to car. I was very very happy with the selection and process and will definitely be back next year. My son is also autistic and he through mask was asking each of them their name. Mike was so nice and friendly as he was the last one to get asked my sons question. Great staff and during the craziness of 2020 it is great to leave with a good feeling and meeting briefly good people. read more

If you like overgrown thorn bushes and half full trees for a decent price then you'll find just what you're looking for at this place. Would not recommend. read more

First time here this year, and we bought a very nice looking pre-cut tree. Price was reasonable, I think it was around $40. We walked around the plantation and couldn't find the "right" one out there, but it was fun searching! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they offer hot chocolate and candy canes. They also sell cord wood for a reasonable price, and have a coupon on their website, so go check them out!! read more
