I had a terrible at experience at this place. I called to make an appointment. The receptionist was really not pleasant from the beginning of the conversation. She asked for my insurance and I said it was the same as it was last year. She told me to watch my tone! Lol. When I went to my appointment I expected an apology from Dr. Sheno. Office experience was ridiculously and unnecessarily lengthy due to the bureaucracy, a total of 3 hours as a first time patient, and only a total of 10 minutes with Dr. Sable. And even though I chose to be seen as a patient in the Woodbury office, I was told that once I scheduled cataract surgery,my post surgical follow up appts. would have to take place at the Oceanside office. Dr. Scheno has fit me into Hybrid lenses and restored my severely distorted vision to 25/20! I suffered from keratitis in 2017 which left my left cornea scarred. Thanks to Dr. Scheno and staff I have had the best year in over 30 years concerning my eyes. I have Keratoconus and have suffered because of it for many years. Last year Dr. Scheno fit me with scleral lenses and it has literally been a whole new world for me when it comes to my eyes and vision. Having Keratoconus affected my quality of life. My condition is advanced, more severely in my right eye, I couldn't work. Everyone told me to go on SSI and some of the eye specialists that I saw told me that the only way to correct my vision was through surgery, Then I found Dr. Scheno who told me that not only would I be able to see but that I wouldn't be needing surgery at the moment. He's very kind and thorough and explains everything to you. The lenses that he fit me with have restored my vision. I'm able to enjoy life again. The office staff are also very kind and friendly. After finding out from my ophthalmologist on a routine visit that I may possibly have an eye disease called Keratoconus. I was referred to a few specialist and after visiting one of them I was not satisfied. I began my own research on finding a specialist who truly knew about this disease and cared to explain and not just rush me into thinking I need surgery. Luckily during my research I came across Dr. Christopher Scheno's videos on youtube where he discusses Keratoconus. Immediately I called for an appointment and left a message. I received a call back within minutes from Dr. Scheno himself. I made an appointment right away. During my visit, he explained everything to me in details. He even drew a picture for me to understand my condition better. He spent ample time with me and finally fitting me for scleral contact lenses. With his help, I now have lenses that have improved my vision in ways I didn't think possible with Keratoconus.  He is personable, knowledgeable and truly showed an unparalleled level of care in prescribing the correct lenses for my condition. I can't thank him enough for his dedication. Also special mention for his wife who assist him in this practice. She is wonderful and very accommodating in providing appointments. Satisfied is an UNDERSTATEMENT after how I felt leaving Dr. Schenos office. I was recommended by my sister who absolutely loves coming to him. I was diagnosed with an eye condition called keratoconus. But before seeing Dr. Scheno, I was told that my only option was to have cross link surgery that insurance does not cover so I would have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. So I held off. As time went on, my sister told me about this eye doctor who has helped her with her keratoconus. I was excited to get a second opinion. So I made an appointment as first time patient and come to find out, surgery was not needed in my case and I was fitted for contact lens that same day. Dr. Schenos is very warm and welcoming. He answered all my questions and concerns. The women at the front desk was also very sweet. We spoke a little bit and she also understood the struggle of not see clearly. He makes a good first impression but he is just as cocky, clueless and unprofessional as every other keratoconus doctor I have dealt with, and there are many. He doesn't listen to the needs of the patients, he assumes that his way is the right way, and the results are horrible. He is also extremely unprofessional, unshaven and disheveled looking, all while gossiping about friends and gatherings with his secretary (wife?) while patients are waiting in the lobby. The office is a little hole cut out of his house, smart business move, but rather uncomfortable to the patients. His tools are antiquated to say the least, and it's probably the reason he cannot measure the right power of your eyes. Beware of the fact that he will try to make you take the wrong contacts at home with you, claiming your eyes need to adjust to them. It's an insurance waiting game, after a couple of months (depending on your insurance) you cannot return the lenses, and you'll be stuck with costs out of pocket, or you'll have to wait for a new year cycle from your insurance. In other words, you'll be screwed for an entire year! Good luck with this charlatan, magic potion seller! read more

He explains his exam thoroughly, and has suggested some things that no one else had before and I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 8 years old. Dr Scheno is an eye doctor. I love that his office is in his home - he makes himself available to his patients. He did a thorough eye exam, had looked at my chart before I showed up and was knowledgeable about my last exam that had been done 2 years prior. His personality is very nice, welcoming and he's always been very flexible about scheduling. He doesn't push anything - like lasik or any other surgery without discussing what you want, what the risks are, and what your expectations are.
