Unfortunately, the Insurance department here was very rude and would not listen to me when I was trying to give them information on who to call at the VA for how they should bill the appointment. She was rude, condescending, and did not want to listen to anything I was trying to explain in regards to billing the VA. Unfortunately, it was the worst clinic experience I have ever had. The front desk staff left us feeling unwelcome and not cared for. Dr. FollMar was very caring, thorough and helpful with all our questions and just really great to deal with. It's unfortunate that the front desk staff and insurance billing department ruined that experience for us. Healthcare is about helping and teamwork. With a front-desk staff, a vital part of that TEAM, refusing to listen to the patient is unacceptable. For a first time mom, veteran, and nurse myself- I was utterly disgusted at the way the front desk staff treated a new patient coming into this clinic. We really appreciate that we are talking to an obvious expert who is actively drawing upon his years of experience to help us. He has a quick memory for detail and patient history like you would not believe, which makes us feel like we are always getting exactly the advice and specific care we need for our little one as an individual. Also, I saw a couple of the other reviewers had trouble with his office several years ago. We have only had the best experiences with the office staff. She wants to have a healthy, trusting relationship with the parents and their children. She will not work with everyone, but I find that to be a good thing. She wants to be comfortable with the relationship between doctor and patient, and she wants you to feel the same! After deciding on her on as our pediatrician, Dr. Becker came to the hospital the day after our daughter was born (again, one of the only peds who do this!). To make a sad and long story short, our daughter ended up passing away two weeks after birth. Dr. Becker and her staff sent a card and flowers. It was very touching. When my son was close to being born a year later, we again decided to go with Dr. Becker for our peds. When I called her office, I was shocked and a bit emotional when they remembered me! And my daughter. Anyone who can relate to this type of loss understands what a big deal this is. Dr. Becker again came to the hospital the day after my son was born--this is her common practice, not special treatment! She helped me so much that first year of being a "new mom"--answering questions in person or by phone, always in a very timely manner. I have gotten a same-day response from their office every time. My son had a severe milk and soy allergy, and Dr. Becker helped us team up with an amazing pediatric gastroenterologist. Together they helped us tremendously. I now have my third child, and I confidently went through the process yet again with Dr. Becker. With Covid and everything else going on, I can't tell you enough how important it is to have a pediatrician you trust. With Dr. Becker I have peace of mind. She has been a trusted part of our family's journey through childhood, adolescence, and all the milestones in between. It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for the care she has given our family over all these years. The staff was very nice about the fact we drove from Oxnard. The doctor was kind & professional. He told us exactly what he could do & was confident he could clear up my Dad's blockages. As the appointment ended he told us they would schedule my Dad's surgery right away, so it was scheduled for Friday, May 31st. There was some scheduling confusion & they sent a letter in error about rescheduling his follow up appointment for after the surgery, & we assumed it was the surgery. The wording said, "We regret to inform you that we need to reschedule your hospital visit..." So if you happen to get a letter like that, call the office right away. My Dad's surgery was rescheduled for July 12th at 8am & we were requested to check him in to the hospital 6am. Although it was a long, hard day of waiting, my Dad's surgery has been a success! 1 blockage was cleared, 1 got a stent & the other they couldn't do anything to for the time being. The staff was so nice & professional. They show concern for their patients & their families. I love the fact that the patients get a tracking number & on the various screens you can check the status of your loved ones on the screen without violating HIPPA. Each time I come by, I'm warmly greeted by his staff plus they are so helpful. In a previous visit, I accidentally left something behind and the staff took the time to help me find it. Dr. Dean Chiang is warm and caring. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and provides a plan of action. I had a severe allergic reaction and he helped resolve it right away and even followed up to make sure I was getting better. Dr. Dean Chiang and his staff are responsive and always so kind. Even when the entire building was shut down by the owner and city, Dr. Chiang and his staff responded to my email and phone message right away. The building being shut down was no fault of Dr. Chiang and his staff, the shutdown affected all the providers in that building. Once your baby is born, you have 30 days to get the baby their own insurance. And the first 30 days from birth, they use your insurance. When the new year came, my private insurance was canceled and I couldn't use the previous pediatrician I was with as they do not accept Medi-Cal. That's when I found this location that did accept Medi-Cal and they were able to do a same day appointment. I came in for a wellness check up for my baby who was almost two months at this point. His new pediatrician Dr. Zhou is really sweet and made my hubby and I very comfortable. My baby was able to get all his vaccines to be up to date and it was a pleasant visit. One thing I want to mention is this office offers free produce on certain days to their community. When I came in, they gave me a welcome bag that had information about their office along with some canned goods. They also have a small first aid kit available for free as well. It's like bandaids and stuff, but perfect to just slip into your purse. Glad I found this office easily and made the experience seamless.
