Dr. Flores (aka, Dr. Jim) is a fantastic doctor and one of the most naturally kid friendly pediatricians we have ever met! We were looking for someone who was close to us, thorough and detail oriented, knowledgeable and experienced, and possessing a kind and engaging bedside manner. Dr. Jim is all of those things! He takes plenty of time to listen to and address all of our concerns and then asks us important questions about possibilities we had never even considered. We really appreciate that we are talking to an obvious expert who is actively drawing upon his years of experience to help us. He has a quick memory for detail and patient history like you would not believe, which makes us feel like we are always getting exactly the advice and specific care we need for our little one as an individual. Also, I saw a couple of the other reviewers had trouble with his office several years ago. We have only had the best experiences with the office staff. I recently moved out of state, but Dr. Flores was my son's pediatrician for over a year from birth until we moved. My oldest is 12. We have gone through many doctors and Dr Flores is a GEM in the sea of crap that makes up modern family practitioners today. I have already been to four drs in the new state and cannot find anyone as competent, kind, understanding, compassionate, and good with kids as Dr Flores. I'm planning to come back to LA for my kid's physicals because seriously he's the best there is. You will not find a better pediatric office. I don't know who needs to hear this, but this should be your new pediatrician. This is the only doctor I would trust with my kids. If you're a new mom - do yourself a favor and meet him. We are new to Dr. Flores office, but I am so, so happy we found him for our son. (My daughter also goes to this office but she sees a female doctor). If you are looking for a kind, caring pediatrician he is a wonderful choice. I was so impressed with the time he spent talking to my son about his interest, physical sports activities my son is involved with, his mental and physical wellbeing each time we visit Dr. Flores. He truly genuinely care about my kids; not just going thru the motion....we had experienced doctors office where it feels rushed and you are not heard. We have had to visit Dr. Flores about six times in just over two months and we are always able to: 1) get an appointment as quickly as possible 2) his staff is quick to get back to you...I never have to follow up with calls to their office 3) they are accommodating and efficient. I just love his office and staff. They are there when you need them the most...emergency situations. Case in point: My son had an emergency surgery for a potential life-threatening medical condition. At the initial onset of pain, I didn't know what was wrong so I called Dr. Flores' office. Explain the symptoms and situation and they recommended I immediately go to ER. Their office didn't waste valuable time having us go their office then referring us to ER. I have had other similar experience and it was a lot of wasted time and copay. Long story short, we ended up at E.R. and had spent 7 hours in triage center ER Torrance Memorial and the final conclusion was he needed surgery. While waiting for my son to be prepped for surgery, post surgery and when we got home, I got a total of four calls from Dr. Flores office to follow up and to check up on my son. They schedule my son for a post surgery appt to see Dr. Flores and to make sure he was recovering well. My son ended up having some infection around the incision site so we saw Dr. Flores immediately and he got him on antibiotics which helps my son recovery faster without further complications. I highly recommend Dr. Flores as a healthy practitioner. He's a local to our community so he knows the ends and outs of the school districts and the health environiment i.e., health issue outbreaks, etc. .He's a parent so he understands all about the trials and tribulations of parenting which helps when you are dealing growing kids and their issues. You really can't go wrong with his office. read more

Update: I just had my second kiddo and Dr. Flores has continued to be an outstanding pediatrician for both my daughter and my (now) newborn son. His follow through is exceptional and he truly makes you feel cared for. Happy that he's our fam pediatrician. read more

My girls are getting older and we transitioned to Dr. Katrina Kaemmerer, who is within the office. We had the last consultation of the day, and Dr. Katrina was well prepared to discuss the subject matter. Not only that, we stayed well after office hours, and I never felt any rush, even as the sun began to set. My wife and I greatly appreciate the staff and attention we get every visit. Anyone looking to address pediatric care should look into this office. read more

Smart doctor with good bedside manner. Feels like he cares. Makes effort to make you feel heard. Nurses are competent; could be more personable. May be because they often seem new and green and are nervous? Have had unpleasant and harsh experiences with front staff which made me leave the clinic. But they have gotten a little better with their attitudes which is why I am back. Tried a bunch of other doctors in the Torrance/Lomita/PV area, but still prefer Dr. Flores. Luv luv luv Dr. Flores and Dr. Kaemmerer. Both are amazing. Unfortunately, we may be changing our doctors due to the office staff and back end billing. This past year as been so challenging with everything, making appointments, call backs, billing, wrong insurance. Spending hours on the phone trying to reconcile and very stressful. We love them and know the doctors are the best... but know the staff and billing office is not at the same level of service. read more

Good doctor but be aware when you sign in using the iPad you will be charged ~$75 "portal fee"- the iPad showed up awhile back and they said it's a new system so I put my son's info in. A couple months later I get a letter saying they will start an annual portal charge (and they already have your credit card info). Since my son was a month away from turning 18, I called the office and asked to close the account so we didn't get charged; didn't happen and we were charged though we no longer saw this doctor. Just the other day (1 yr later) we were charged again - called the portal co and got it reversed but I'm stuck for last year. Dr Flores is a great doc but I really disliked them using my credit card for something I didn't authorize. read more

This medical group treated my daughter even though I called to let them know that I did not authorize treatment. I was told they would speak to my ex about the situation if he showed up for the appointment, but they still treated her anyway! What kind of doctor would violate a court order? I am currently waiting for Dr. Flores to call me back to explain what happened and will provide an update after that conversation. UPDATE: I spoke with Dr. Flores, who explained that they only treated my daughter for head trauma (but I don't know if my ex informed them she was already examined by her regular pediatrician the day before because another doctor at the medical group examined her), which they were within legal rights to do, even though I had called. Given the situation, I understand their only concern was for my daughter, but I'm still unhappy with how this was handled. read more

Dr.Flores is an AMAZING doctor. He takes his time, answers any and all questions you have, never pressures you into vaccines that aren't recommended. You never feel rushed, he knows his patients like the back of his hand. We have been coming to Dr.flores for 7 years now and have brought 4 other families to him. He is so passionate about his patients and providing the best care possible. I have never had a bad experience at his office. Dr. Jim is an incredible pediatrician! He is very knowledgeable and is on top of everything. As a first time parent, he has been patient with me and has never made me feel like I am bothering him when I have a question or concern. He responds to emails very quickly which is so helpful when you don't know what to do. He truly does have the patients best interest! All of the doctors have been very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. The front office staff are kind and accommodating as well. Love the doctors. Some of the front office is very rude. There are two of us that are in the waiting room with wrong appointment times and they insist that the patients are wrong and there aren't. No matter the instance. The do not have to be rude and reiterate that the are right. read more

I can't say how much we love Dr.Jim. He's such an incredible doctor. He's been our pediatrician for almost ten years, and he's been kind, patient, compassionate, and helpful to us from the start. All three of my children love him. Most of the staff is friendly. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I hate hate hate the God-awful nurse, Lisa. I hate her with a passion! She made me so angry last week I decided I needed to post a review about her. This lady lacks compassion, she's rude to patients and us parents, she has an awful attitude, she's just a total jerk, period. I cringe when I hear her on the phone. I've had to specifically request not to have her as our nurse because she's so horrible. Good o'Dr. Jim probably still employs her because she needs the job, because otherwise she seriously needs to be fired. She's unfit to b a pediatric nurse, in fact, she's unfit to be a nurse, period. read more

I brought my daughter into this office once bc we just moved to the area and she needed a vaccine before preschool started. When I asked them a week later to transfer her records over to the new pediatricians office that we found (and liked better) they told me to have the previous office do it even though I just had them all transferred over to them. My daughter is young and healthy so there aren't that many records. I even offered to come and pick them up myself and she said I can't because of HIPPA laws and they didn't want to waste paper, which didn't make any sense. Then they told me to bring in a USB to have the charts transferred onto that? Finally, she begrudgingly agreed to fax her small chart over to the new office. When I asked her how long it usually takes she snapped at me and gave me a vague response. I've worked in Drs offices before and transferring charts is just a part of the job. These ladies couldn't be bothered with that. read more

My four sons have been going to Dr. Flores since birth. He is a true gem. He takes my concerns seriously , follows up , is always available for questions , he doesn't hesitate to refer out to a specialist if we have a problem out of his specialty. My kids were patients here for many years and I returned to get a simple immunization form initialed for college registration. "Maria" (she refused to give me her last name) could not have been more rude or unhelpful. At first I was told they could not do this and had no records for him. When she found the records she was so unfamiliar with the process that she thought all I needed was a stamp. When I asked for the initials, she told me I would have to wait until Monday (this happened on a Thursday afternoon). Why it should take this long to get initials astounds me. I am convinced she decided to make things difficult for me because I seemed frustrated. I have honestly never been treated so poorly in a medical office before. Inexcusable and disappointing. We like Dr. Flores, but you are only as good as your staff. I can't imagine what Maria would've said if I had asked her for anything that required more effort. read more
