It is a funny thing about Paddington. I'd only ever thought to cross the bridge for it during the day because mostly everything that I've frequented is noticeably partial to that time frame. And that, by way of deduction, clearly explains the point of the neighbourhood restaurant. The neighbourhood restaurant - a category of which this family-style pizzeria joint falls into - isn't for everyone to know about. It is for the classy types, the crooks, the kids, the young and old couples, the cry-babies and cozy nuclear families from around the area to get together as one entity and eat at their local dining establishment. That is why you won't get a look-in at this place if you're one of those ones who only commutes to Five Ways Paddington during the day. There's nothing to look at. It's dark and it's out of business. Until night-time. And then, if you're clever enough to notice and decide to go anyway, you'll see why everyone around the area comes here.
The staff are incredibly accommodating and allow you to choose where you want to sit as long as you arrive at a reasonably early time (doors open at 6pm). You can also, and this is such a rarity these days, make a booking. Once inside, you'll feel warm all over and this will have nothing to do with the heat coming out from those pizza ovens but from the staff attending to your beck and call and from the parents tenderly feeding their little kids or the laughter emanating from the other seating area (attached to the one you're sitting in). My partner and I went a little crazy and ordered garlic bread, two pizzas (beef and onion and the other, Moroccan lamb ((not as good as the beef and onion)) with fettuccine pasta to finish. Yep. Just the two of us. My advice? Don't do that. You will barely walk out of there in a straight line and your bill might be a little nasty - or at least more than you expected.
Overall, a great neighbourhood restaurant. read more
